About this product
Melbourne-via-Tasmanian four-piece Quivers first released their 2018 debut We'll Go Riding On The Hearses as hand-made cassettes. The album dealt with singer Sam Nicholson's loss of his brother in a freediving accident, and Inchtrying to not think about that, and often coming back to ghosts, benders, water, and pissing in the snow.Inch When demand for the album grew, it received a vinyl and led Quivers to tour the US, film a KEXP session, and be selected by NPR Music for both the Austin 100 SXSW preview and as a InchSlingshotInch artist to watch. Their life-damaged but hopeful jangle pop has only sharpened since then, and while 2021 follow-up Golden Doubt conjures up REM or The Clean, there is a lyrical directness that sets this record apart as always it's own. Golden Doubt is carried by shimmering guitars and the harmonizing vocals of members Holly Thomas and Bella Quinlan. Elevated by the production of Matthew Redlich (Holy Holy, Husky, Ainslie Wills), the record explores what comes after grief, and how one throws oneself back into love. As Nicholson explains, the album tries to bottle Inchthe rush of feelings and fears when you give in to falling for someone. It's also an album in love with other albums, and the other bands around us.Inch Before each take at Woodstock and The Aviary studios in Melbourne, Australia, the band would imagine a scene together (a waterhole for InchLaughing WatersInch, an overgrown carpark for InchVideostoresInch) and then dive in to capture live group takes. Quivers need to get words on the page and sounds out to keep moving on. Both Nicholson and Thomas lost their brothers in the same year, and through that shared vulnerability they all have together that runs deep. Golden Doubt is also a love letter to playing music as a band and processing it all together rather than just carrying it as a weight. The cancellation of a 21-date US tou

Drag City Records releases in 2008 Jim O'Rourke related project, Mimidokodesuka, a reissue of a Japanese-released album by the trio Osorezan comprised of Jim O'Rourke, Darin Gray and Chris Corsano. Osorezan came about when Jim was given the opportunity to bring some players to Japan to basically do whatever he wanted, but after considering his options, what he chose to do was a deep roots project, a return to the kind of music he played before anything else. The very nature of free jazz/improvisation means that you are always joining up with other people and over the years, Jim had participated in plenty of sessions such as these, but had never initiated one of his own. Jim on electric guitar, Darin on contrabass bonded with Chris Corsano who's blown the free world with his unbridled power, intensely collaborative nature and smooth stickwork behind the kit. (Chris is Bjork's drummer!) Mimidokodesuka was recorded live at the Pit Inn in Tokyo during a 2005 residency that included sets with alto sax legend Akira Sakata (recordings of which have been released separately and elsewhere). The music appears here pretty much as played, all from the first set. The agreement between players is kinetic and immediate, with everybody playing alternately for each other and to the skies. There's lots of color and dynamic tension and lots of good awesomeness too! Album Tracks 1. Form of a Collapse If a Collapse Should Occur 2. All We Know So Far 3. In Addition

2009 . Legion of Two is a new project from Alan O'Boyle and David Lacey. It pits electronics against live drums and percussion for a dark, dense, and noisy dirge. Huge basslines, slow, pounding rhythms, and feedback dominate. Industrial, dub, and metal influences are shredded through old guitar pedals and cheap reverbs and reassembled into a driving and melodic force. Album Tracks 1. (Intro) Starbound 2. And Now We Wait 3. Palace (Dub) 4. Legion of Two 5. Turning Point 6. (Interlude) ABC 7. Handling Noise 8. It Really Does Take Time 9. Cast Out Your Demons

Ivan Pavlov aka COH characterizes his latest solo work, 'Radiant Faults', as Inchthe recording of a dialogue,Inch rather than a set of compositions. Crafted using a rare new synthesizer, the Silhouette Eins, Pavlov's first encounter with the instrument across a long, late night session resulted in a continuous set of textures, patterns, and subliminal melodies. At some point during the process, he realized he was not alone InchIt was as if something was speaking to me through the gear - the feeling was very intense. No matter how determined and specific I attempted to be, the results were something else. They felt like 'responses.' This instantly reminded me of ELpH.InchELpH is the name coined by Coil for a Inchcelestial entityInch that emanates from electronic equipment at mysterious moments, altering the creative process in unforeseen ways. They devised the term during studio sessions back in 1994, during which sustained software accidents ultimately seemed possessed of supernatural intelligence, spawning it's own mythos. As a longtime member of Coil's inner circle, Pavlov is steeped in ELpH's ideology and influence - and highly qualified to identify an encounter of his own. 'Radiant Faults' offers a compelling addition to the ELpH canon, at the threshold of music and manifestation, embracing the Inchdivine quality of error.InchThe Silhouette Eins is a unique instrument combining the 1920's concept of an Inchoptical soundtrackInch with a hardware synth interface to Pure Data a visual programming language for producing interactive music, using real- time video signal in it's synthesis of sound. Pavlov's attempted manipulations were answered by indecipherable transmissions from some distant, unknowable place. Stark waveforms drone and bend against skeletal metronomes; murmured pulses flicker down empty corridors; high fluorescent tones gleam and glitch in zero gravi
