  Really good sound cancellation but still can hear sound faintly. Which I like just in case. The Dolby app is pretty cool and I use it for a lot of things like tv at night listen to music a the most important one the reason for buying while I game. Loud but not painful

  Great lightweight gaming headphones for PC/X/PS/S+

  Quick Overview ================================= There are a LOT of choices if you're shopping for gaming headsets. In this price bracket, I'd say the RIG 600 Pro HX is a great choice! It's lightweight, supports 2.4 Ghz and BT 5.1, sounds good with a customizable EQ, decent battery life, and includes Dolby Atmos for Headphones. Overall build ================================= Opening the box, you'll think your headphones were broken in shipping if you haven't used these before. They actually ship with the earcups separate from the headband (of course the wire is still connected) so you can snap them into the proper hole for your head size. It may seem a bit limiting to only be able to choose S, M, L instead of a variable headband, but I've used these types (Since they were Plantronics) before without any fit issues. The bonus is that this plastic "skeletal" frame makes them super lightweight and pretty durable. I also like that the earcup padding is fabric instead of fake leather which will ultimately deteriorate and flake off. In the box, you'll also get the 2.4 Ghz USB-C dongle, a USB-A to USB-C adapter, and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable. The quickstart guide and Dolby Atmos insert are the only other noteworthy inclusions. The USB-C dongle has a small indicator light and a switch for Console or USB (it says PC in the quickstart) depending on what you're connecting to. There are no controls on the right earcup, so everything is on the right including the flip-out boom mic. Starting at the bottom near the charging port, there's a red power button, the volume knob, the call control (music play/pause) button, and near the top is the BT button. The mic sits fully flush when it's not in use, so you'll push the bottom/underside of it until the tip is revealed so you can flip it out. Initial setup ================================= After peeling the plastic wrap off of the headphone parts, I snapped in the earcups in the M setting only to find out that I have a bigger head than I thought? I had to step up to the L size to have the headband comfortably sit on the top of my head with the earcups covering my ears fully. Mind you, I'm 5'6" and under 150 lbs, so I worry that larger heads may not work for this design. I wanted to make sure they were fully charged, so I connected it to a USB-C charging cable and waited. After plugging in the dongle (switch set to USB) to my Asus G18, I powered on the headphones and heard the voice prompts regarding battery life and connectivity status (dual mode, USB and BT). I'll test first without Dolby Atmos for Headphones and without EQ in the mobile app. After that, I'll rerun the tests. Performance ================================= The mic is fine. The flip-to-mute is nice, but I think a nice mute button and indicator would have been nice in addition to the flip up mechanism. Imagine if you were in a situation where you needed to constantly mute/unmute often. That would be a bit annoying with this because it's not as simple as a push-to-mute experience. Quality-wise, the mic is good enough for gaming and communications, but I would not record audio for videos nor stream with it. I use a dedicate Rode mic by comparison and it's night and day in terms of quality (as it should be). Also, I have a fan/filter running in my room almost all the time and the mic quality sounds better with the fan/filter off so perhaps some background noise suppression is part of why the mic sounds good, but not great. Without EQ/Dolby Atmos for Headphones ------------------------------------- Spotify was good with some rolling midbass, but not particularly deep. Female vocals and electronic music sounded just fine but I could use a bit more bass for some musical enjoyment. I also noticed that I needed the volume quite high - past 60-70% or more depending on the song. Ascent's synth-heavy, dark soundtrack sounded great while going through the subterranean world. I could hear small details and gunfire sounded nice and impactful. Yakuza Kiwami also sounded great with the Kamurocho district sounding fully alive with the ambient hustle and bustle of a busy downtown area. Kiryu's commanding voice sounded great as well. Overall, these are already a nice sounding, lightweight headset for gaming. Let's try it with the Dolby Atmos for Headphones. Enabling features like these used to be codes you'd have to enter, but now the card just directs you to download the Dolby Access app from the Microsoft Store. Once you download/run it, it'll see your RIG 600 Pro HX headphones and you'll be able to configure them for music, game and other modes. With Dolby Atmos for Headphones --------------------------------- I didn't notice much difference in Spotify unless I customized some EQ settings of my own, but I was glad to have an option to do so without needing to use the app on my phone! For customization you have a 10-band EQ and can turn off the "Surround Virtualizer" and "Volume leveler". Firing up The Ascent and Yakuza Kiwami again, I toggled between the "Game" and "Custom 1" setting in the Dolby Atmos app. Note, there's also an option for "Dynamic" to let the app select a mode for you. As I switched into "Game" mode, it seems like some higher frequencies were cut and bass was deeper. This was more obvious in The Ascent where there were some high-pitched instruments and a choir-like singing in the background. Both games sounded good like this, but since the mode was supposed to be better for positional audio, I fired up Sniper Elite 4. OK I remember Sniper Elite 4 being a dramatic game, but these headphones really make it sound great! The music is bombastic and dramatic, fitting an epic WWII movie. Sniper Karl Fairburne's gravely voice sounds great and the entire world sounds alive as old machinery, gravel falling from the mountains, wildlife, etc. are all there for you to hear. Since it's a stealth and sniper game, sound really is key as you're sneaking through tunnels or barracks trying to get the drop on the enemies. Hearing their footsteps get louder as they approach, especially from a direction you weren't expecting, was really helpful. I usually game with music headphones which sound great, but they're wired and honestly should be powered by an amp since they're quite high-impedance headphones. The Android app - RIG 600 Pro Navigator --------------------------------------- Oddly enough, there was no mention of the actual app's name on the box or in the quickstart guides. On their website for the 600 Pro HX, there's one small graphic about searching for "Rig 600 Navigator". Actually doing that will result in two apps showing up, choose the "RIG 600 Pro Navigator". I think a mobile app controlling parameters makes sense if this device is going to be used primarily on a mobile device, but since this is aimed at PC/console gamers, I think this is a bit of an oversight. I guess the plus side, I didn't have to install yet another manufacturer's software to control a new peripheral on my PC. After pairing your phone via BT, the app will let you test your headphone's controls and set things like mic gain, sound profiles, auto power off, etc. Eventually, there will be firmware updates here as well. As you can imagine, it's nice to have access to phone calls when needed even if you're playing a game so you don't miss an important call. Conclusion ================================= I think these are great, lightweight gaming headphones! Whether you're on Xbox, PS, PC, Switch, or mobile, these will work - regardless of the Xbox branding! They should fit most and the lightweight + fabric earcups make them comfortable for a long time. Charging these every few days is not a chore and I do like that there are configuration options available to customize the sound via the Dolby Atmos for Headphones app in Windows. I just wish the mobile app wasn't required for other customization.

  Lightweight Headset

  The best thing about this headset is how lightweight it is. Most people who use headsets do so for hours each day. You can fatigue when the headset is heavier. That was the first thing I noticed with these. More comfort because of the lightweight. A simple and settled design. The setup was snapping in the ear cup pieces to my size. I do wish there was more adjustment for individuals with larger heads. No cup swivel so you can't lay them on your shoulders. But do you need that? These offer good-quality audio while playing shooting games. Even while listening to a podcast and other forms of entertainment. The app is very basic. I mean basic you get functions like Microphone gain levels and Microphone monitoring. Which is a neat add-on if you need those things. Volume level protection and an Equalizer. Bass Boost was my preferred option. I don't usually use the microphone on headsets but you will be heard clearly. No problems. The microphone retracts into the headset itself. Which is another nice feature. The biggest negative is the tight fit. I wish there was one more size adjustment. I didn't have a problem after 2 hours of use. I have yet to have a problem. But this is a great lightweight headset that will get the job done.
