If you already have Ring devices and a Ring subscription this Wide-Angle Retinal 2K video Floodlight Cam may be for you. I needed coverage on my walkout basement door. There was an existing switched light but no camera coverage in an area with limited visibility. This Floodlight Cam was just what I was looking for. What’s in the box: Ring Floodlight Cam Assortment of mounting screws Wire nuts Screwdriver Mounting bracket Protected by Ring sticker The floodlight cam came with all the necessary mounting hardware and an assortment of screws to ensure it would work with most existing junction boxes. Installation is pretty straightforward. First and foremost, turn off the power to the existing light. Double check to make sure it’s off. Then remove the old light, wire up and mount the Floodlight Cam and test. If you have a standard junction box, standard wiring and a flat vertical mounting surface you are good to go. I didn’t have a standard junction box and my siding isn’t exactly vertical. But I made it work without much difficulty. After you turn the power back on, go into the Ring app on your phone and go through the “add device” process, (or just point your phone camera at the small QR code printed on the device) then you should be good to go. Do note that this device needs ac power. It’s not a battery cam. If you are replacing an existing switched light, that switch needs to remain in the on position. The device also needs WiFi to send the video and to access the camera. The camera captures my entire patio area in its 140 degree field of view. It would be very difficult to get to my back door without activating the motion sensors. As an added bonus, the LED lights are nice and bright. There is also audio capture and two way talk. This floodlight cam came with a 30 day trial Ring subscription. But I already had a Ring subscription that supports multiple devices. If you don’t have an existing Ring subscription, you will need one to get access to the expected features. I have to say that I am impressed with the video quality. The camera is a long way from my router, yet the connection is solid. The motion detection is good too. In summary, this Ring Floodlight cam works reliably and even though the price feels a bit high, it’s worth it to me for the convenience and peace of mind.

Super easy to setup and use. I pulled off my older flood light and put the base mount up and hung the light on the strap holder. Which is a great feature to not drop the light. Only issue I ran into for installation was that there is a gap with foam and the wall. So I had put a little silicone to fill the gap. If you don't know how to aire this please hire an electrician or a handy person to do this for you or else you will mess this up or get hurt or elctrocuted. Anyway after installing setup was super easy. Because I have a ring account I just followed the prompts and I was in. If you don't have a ring account you will need to set one up. Also for continued ok online access you need to pay. This comes with a trial version but when it ends you will not have access to the detailed features and AI detect that is offered. Field of vision is the great. It spans the length of my driveway with the camera pretty much in the middle. It's about a 40 ft long driveway. Overall easy to use. Easy to get access. Easy to filter events. Bi directional talk and speaker are decent. There still is a slight lag but ok. Overall great camera. Great features for what is needed.

The Ring Floodlight Cam (wired, newest model) is a powerful floodlight & camera for outdoor security. Installation is simple if you already have existing wiring, and the Ring app makes setup fast and user-friendly. Video quality has soo far been sharp and detailed thanks to the Retinal 2K resolution,"The Ring Floodlight Cam (Wired) captures video in Retinal 2K resolution rather than traditional pixel counts. The product page for the Ring Floodlight Cam (Wired) doesn't specify a traditional pixel count. Ring markets this camera as 'Retinal 2K' video, which is their proprietary resolution standard rather than a megapixel measurement. making it easy to identify faces and objects even when zooming in. The floodlights are extremely bright and provide strong night coverage, though I am not quite certain on the lumen levels & motion detection is quick and generally accurate. Integration with my other Ring devices works seamlessly soo far. Minor audio control issues can be slightly frustrating because it seems to be either too quiet or bullhorn loud but we will make it work, putting a piece of white duct tape over the speaker has dulled it down to a good level. Overall I reccommend.

If you’re in the Ring ecosystem this new floodlight cam is a nice addition to your system. Setup is just like any other floodlight, but Ring includes a nice strap that makes hanging it easier especially when ceiling mounting. The video quality is excellent with the 2k wide angle camera that not only allows you to have better clarity but to see more. With the 6x zoom you’ll also be able to zoom in further with that clarity. The LED lights also provide excellent light that’s very bright and if they’re to bright for you, you can adjust the brightness in the Ring app. You also have a built in siren for an added layer of security, as my past experience, sometimes lights and cameras won’t scare off people intent on stealing. In order to get the best experience with Ring devices, you really need the subscription but after using it, it’s definitely worth the price. I’ve used many cameras and floodlight cams with local storage only and though I prefer that, you do get a more robust experience with the Ring subscription. If you’re looking at upgrading your previous floodlight camera or are new to the Ring system, this is an excellent floodlight camera

I've begun surrounding my home with Ring products after getting the ring doorbell. Have an indoor ring camera as well. Decided to get the floodlight for my backyard area. -------- All I can say is how super impressed I am with the range of the camera and detail it picks up. It's crazy impressive vertical and horizontal depth it can get. Its picking up my neighbors back yards as well and part of their homes. -------- The night vision is very good and the lights themselves are insanely bright. The motion activity to activate the lights is awesome and while my area isn't known to be unsafe, these bright blinding lights added with the camera you would think should be enough to scare people away. The motion sensor has such good range and camera that it notified me when my neighbor was doing yard work in his backyard, closer to his house. Now this can be adjusted but I feel like this amount of range is beneficial overall. ------- I can't speak on the install as I played it safe and had my electrician buddy install, but he said it took him less than 5 minutes to swap out the old backdoor light for it. ------- The flood lights themselves and camera can be angled and pointed at different areas to your liking. You can control the lights via the Ring app itself as well. Just like all Ring products, the functionality and benefits with the app really gives you a lot of flexibility of what you can do with these devices. ------- So far I'm really satisfied with this Ring device. I got it primarily as we are renovating our backyard and planning to put a patio/redo our deck, so it will be nice to keep a better eye on things. My kids also play out back a lot and I like that this can monitor them as well. I definitely recommend this product.

I'm happy with the newest Ring Wired floodlight camera. I already use the doorbell along with several other Ring floodlight cameras around my home, so I like having everything connected and easy to view in one app. The 2k video quality is very clear, and the zoom goes up to 6x, which makes it easy to get a closer look when needed. I have this camera on my back porch overlooking my pool and backyard. It gives a great view of the entire back yard. The floodlights are nice and bright. I especially appreciate that when I let my dogs outside at night becuse it lights up the yard really well. The only downfall I found was the mounting setup was different from the previous version. I was hoping it would be as simple as taking the old one down and putting the new one in its place, but it required a little more work. It was not difficult to install, but not as quick as I was hoping for since I was just replacing a previous Ring floodlight camera. Overall, the improved video quality, enhanced zoom and bright lights make this a great upgrade, especially if you already own Ring products.

I have a rural property and I find that security cameras give me peace of mind, both at home and when we are away. I picked up this floodlight camera to replace a conventional motion detector style floodlight, and this review is based on a week of use. Note that this review is based on Ring Protect plan features, so your mileage may vary.  TL;DR - I like the responsiveness, features, and customization that the Ring camera providers. This is my fourth Ring product and all seem to integrate seamlessly with alerts that will provide which camera has triggered an event. Pros: Easy to install as an upgrade to existing flood light fixture. Great motion zone customization and sensitivity to only get the alerts you want. Low maintenance after initial setup. Cons: The app installation says not to be installed horizontally under an eve due to potential moisture intrusion, but then proceeds to give instructions how to do so, to include caulking around the base of the device. This is information that should be published on the product website / package if there is a risk of it not working horizontally. In the box is the ring camera, install tool, and multiple screw sizes / lengths for mounting. Setup is straightforward for old work, flip breaker, remove old floodlight, mount base to junction box, set mounting bracket (this determines where the camera points) hang camera on base hook while you wire camera, wire, connect housing to base, and restore power. The app will walk you through both install as well as connecting to the app.  I also have a Ring Chime Pro, which acts as both a range extender and can be used to provide audible motion alerts in the house. This is useful if you have kids or other household members who are not logged into the Ring app, and would benefit to know when a motion is detected. You can also link multiple Chime Pro devices to have these audible alerts on each floor of your house.  The app really is where all the magic happens, you can control schedules, times to not receive motion alerts, light schedules, in addition to selecting home, away, or disarmed modes. You can also trigger the camera to alert people if they are being recorded when they trigger a motion event, and if you upgrade to the Ring Protect subscription you can also get AI alerts so I can receive a summary of what triggered the motion alert without having to look at your phone. Additional features include a two way speaker, SOS which is a 2 button process to request policy / fire / medical, and a (somewhat underwhelming) siren. Lastly, and one of my favorite features is that you can set up the zones (3 sections, approximately 270 degrees coverage) where the floodlights shine, which helps such that the floodlight will not shine in one of the bedrooms if a motion event occurs. You can also set the strength of the floodlights if you are in a more residential area and don't want to bother a house nearby with the lights.  Bottom line, I really love the features, which seem to improve monthly through app updates. The camera works nearly seamlessly with the other 3 cameras around the property, and I have full control of when, how, and what level of detail is captured. I recommend this for anyone who needs both a camera and a flood light, or wants to upgrade an existing floodlight to add in video recording. 

The Ring Floodlight Camera Gen 2 was simple and straightforward to setup. We just had to remove the old floodlight and connect it to the existing wiring. The floodlight's wiring is housed behind a removable mounting plate with a cutout for the wiring to pass through. There’s also a hanging strap that hooks onto the mounting plate’s interior to hold the camera up while you connect the wires. The back of the mounting plate has insulating foam to prevent water, drafts, and bugs from entering the fixture and hole in the wall, though I’d still recommend caulking around the base after installation. I liked that the included screwdriver has a double-ended bit and serves as a hex driver for the cap nuts when the bit is removed. Once the unit is wired up and the power is restored to the circuit, the device powers on immediately. You’ll need the Ring app installed on a mobile device and a registered account to set it up. It takes only a few minutes to add the device to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network and update its firmware. Linking your Ring and Amazon accounts lets you use it with Alexa smart speakers and video screens. The camera comes with a free trial of a Ring Protect plan for 30 days. The plan allows you to access video history up to 180 days, unlocks AI features like text descriptions and familiar faces, SOS emergency services, and activity-based alerts. Since the unit is hardwired, 24/7 continuous recording is available as well. Although the camera can be used without a paid plan, you will be limited to live-view only with 2-way talk without video recordings. This latest generation floodlight has a retinal 2K resolution which captures footage at up to 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution with 140° horizontal and 85° vertical field of view. The resolution and framerate can vary greatly depending on your WiFi signal strength at the time of recording. I saw anywhere from 15 fps to 23 fps, with higher framerate footage providing the clearest and sharpest images while the low end produced very blurry, grainy and even frozen video at times. When the bandwidth is sufficient for max resolution, the image is clear and sharp with good detail and natural looking colors and contrast in both live and recorded views. The 6x digital zoom lets you zoom in but tends to look grainy. There’s also a slight fisheye effect due to the wide angle, so the full-size video will appear curved at the sides and corners. The black and white infrared night vision is clear and illuminates a pretty far distance. Just make sure the spotlights aren’t angled in too close to the lens as the IR light can reflect off them and potentially wash out the image. Motion zones are customizable and can be set on a schedule so you only get alerts during certain times of the day. The speaker for the unit is just under the lens of the camera. It is used for 2-way talk, automatic warnings to visitors being recorded, or to sound a loud 85 dB siren. Note that warnings require you to enable “modes,” like home or away, for use as a security system, and the siren can only be manually triggered in the Ring app and will not trigger automatically on motion events. The speaker and mic audio quality are generally decent and clear, though if your connection is weak, digital compression artifacts or delays may occur. The mic picks up voices decently and captures a bit of ambient noise as well, however, sometimes can be a bit garbled with compression artifacts or clipping noticeable. The two LED spotlights on the unit are adjustable in position, so you can swivel and point them where you want the light coverage. They are very bright with a max brightness of 2000 lumens with a 3000K warm white color temperature. They can be a bit blinding, so thankfully you can dim it in 10% increments in the app. The lights are only motion-activated when it’s sufficiently dark out, with a customizable 30 second to 15 minute timeout, and its motion zones and sensitivity settings are separate from the camera's. Alternatively, you can set a schedule for them to be always on/off regardless of motion. When motion is detected, the app sends you notifications on your phone; you can even specify which types of motion you want to see, like people or vehicles. Alerts can also be played over your smart speakers, if set up in the Alexa app. Overall, the Ring Floodlight Gen 2 Camera is a decent option for outdoor security if you already use other Ring devices. It was easy to install, has clear HD images when WiFi signal is strong, and has a number of useful security features. You’ll get the most out of it with a paid subscription, including access to SOS emergency services, 24/7 recording, and video recording history; plus you'll have the option to add on professional monitoring for additional peace of mind.

The Ring Floodlight Cam is not my first Ring product. I have installed several previous generation Ring cameras for friends and family with positive feedback. I also have a mix of other Ring cameras at my own home and have used Ring alarm to monitor a rental property. Ring offers a easy to us mobile app, a variety of cameras and sensors, cloud storage at a reasonable cost, Alexa integration, and reliable remote alerts (that get smarter each generation). Unfortunately, I had some serious concerns with the installation requirements for the Floodlight Cam and was not impressed with the performance compared to several generations of Spot Cams I have used. If you have an existing eve mounted floodlight, I would consider getting a Spot Cam Pro (better night performance and mounting options) and direct wiring it in the same area as the existing light (the cost are similar when you factor in the eve adapter for the Floodlight). Installation and setup are fairly easy if you have an existing light box/wiring (with a few major things to be mindful of). The app provides helpful step-by-step install pictures and guides you thru setup (like linking you to the network and basic settings). If you don't already have an existing wall mounted flood light with constant 120VAC power, then the install would require an electrician or some serious DIY. IMPORTANT - Despite conflicting info on the Ring website... this is for WALL MOUNT ONLY... not eves. I had to buy an adapter off of Amazon to make this work with my existing eve mounted floodlight - it works fine, but looks a little silly. Limiting this to only wall mount and not stating it explicitly on the box, technical specs, or in the sales information complicated my install. Lighting performance is mixed. The controls are great. You can set up motion sensitivity for the lights independent of camera motion trigger (which also triggers the lights). Set schedules for periods to keep the lights on or off. You can also manually trigger the light anytime and it will shutoff automatically. I am just not impressed with the 2000 lumen floodlights. They aren't terrible, but don't cover the same area as the standard 75W LED floodlights I had before (which had a similar lumen rating, but a wider pattern). During the day, the image quality is great. Colors are good and lighting is balanced despite not having HDR. The viewing angle is impressive, covering my entire front yard, driveway, and some of the adjacent yard. The 2k resolution is sharp and allows you to zoom in to get a little more detail. Nighttime image quality is mixed. When the floodlight is off the quality is pretty good, the grayscale image is sharp and lighting is balanced with minimal noise (although there is no color). Oddly, when the floodlights come on, they tend to wash out everything in the background and the camera does not balance the darker areas well (my older Spot Cam performs much better - offering good balance with the light on and true color night vision with the light off). There is two-way audio and a warning siren to let you listen in, speak with people through the camera, and warn away unwanted visitors. Audio is loud and clear on both ends, allowing you to have a conversation through the camera. There were no issues with background noise, audio sync issues, or feedback. One important thing to note if you are new to Ring: You need a GREAT internet connection for the best image quality and two-way audio. Even with a modern mesh network (with a node only about 6ft away from my doorbell) and fiber internet, compression causes my recorded videos to be noticeably fuzzier than the example images in Ring's advertisements. I already mentioned the Ring app, but it really is good. It works well on both my Android and Apple phones. It is easy to answer/view your door, view historical events in timeline, change settings, and manage multiple Ring devices. Notification popups with the regular service plan work really well and contain important info like the type of activity and a few seconds of video. You can set up smart notifications (people and cars), schedules, set motion areas, link Chimes, and linked triggers to capture multiple camera views on one triggering event. Video recording, cloud based storage, and smart features can vary by Ring service plan. There are upgraded service plans that add on AI based alerts that can interpret what your Ring cameras are seeing, allowing detailed text summaries of events, summarizing multiple related motion triggers into one event alert, and spotting unusual activity. Ring also offers Alexa integration, allowing you to get alerts and view cameras from an Alexa device (including Fire TV).

I've been in the Ring echo-sphere for a long time now so I feel I am quite familiar with all it's features and the app. I have a few different types of their cameras and this was an upgrade for me from the older version of the floodlight camera. The lights themselves I have to be honest, I can't tell if it's better. The original was so bright and within the app you can adjust the level of brightness. Mine is set at half and it lights up the whole yard. The camera itself is very clear. Being a 2k camera is a noticeable improvement from the older version 1080p. My camera is about 15 ft from the sidewalk and I can tell which neighbor is walking by and more importantly, which neighbor is not picking up their pet's "droppings" LOL. The night vision and zoom is also a lot better than the older version and that in itself is worth this camera. This is what I like the most. Also, being a wired version, the alert time is so much faster than my other battery operated cameras. The two way talk although also improved has always been not the best. That's the one thing I wish Ring would make better. There can be lag at times but much better with this camera. If you don't know, if response time is important to you, a wired Ring camera is a lot faster than any battery operated ones. Keep that in mind while picking out your cameras. All in all, this is a fantastic camera.

This Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Retinal 2K (2nd Gen) has almost the exact same design and construction as the 1st Gen, with only a few noticeable differences. Although it is mostly made of plastic, it feels very durable. My 1st Gen units have been working reliably for over eight years, which gives me confidence in Ring's build quality. One of the most noticeable changes is the camera housing. It maintains the same overall appearance, but the 1st Gen had an outer glass cover protecting both the camera and sensors. On this 2nd Gen model, the camera lens is more exposed, although it is still protected by its own glass. The spotlight arms are also shorter and offer a little less adjustment flexibility than the original. Another small change is that there is no longer a need to tighten the middle section of the arm. The spotlights themselves appear to be identical to those on the previous generation. Installation is extremely simple, even for someone who has never installed one before. The only tool I used was the one included in the box. Removing my old unit, installing the new one, and completing the setup through the Ring app took about 20 minutes. I especially liked the redesigned mounting bracket that attaches to the electrical box. It allows you to temporarily hang the camera while connecting the wiring, making installation much easier. You also have the option of connecting the camera directly to your Wi-Fi network or, if you own a Ring Chime like I do, connecting it through that. Performance has been excellent. Ring cameras have always been reliable for me, and my 1st Gen is still functioning after nearly a decade. Video quality is slightly improved, with a clearer image, better digital zoom, and a wider field of view. While the upgrade does provide some improvement, the difference isn't dramatic. The speaker is another improvement I noticed. It sounds a little louder and clearer than the previous generation. The spotlights provide plenty of brightness, with a warm white color, but I didn't notice any significant improvement over the original model. The siren is noticeable, but it isn't extremely loud and sounds about the same as the 1st Gen. If you're already familiar with Ring products, this camera offers the same user-friendly experience. The app is easy to navigate, with clearly labeled menus and settings. Aside from configuring motion zones and motion alerts, the camera works great right out of the box without requiring much tweaking. Overall, the Ring Floodlight Cam is an excellent security camera at a reasonable price. It offers easy installation, dependable performance, good video quality, durable construction, and a reasonably priced subscription plan. If you're looking for a reliable floodlight security camera, this is a great option. However, if you already own a 1st Gen model that's still working well, I don't think it's worth upgrading. The differences are fairly minor and mostly cosmetic. In the box, you'll find the Ring Floodlight Cam, the installation hardware, and the instruction manual.

Being a part of this program, I have had the opportunity to use A LOT of camera systems. For me, I have two favorites, with a running tie between Ring and Nest. With my current system being these two, they are both great systems and they do different things very. This Ring Floodlight camera fits right in. install was pretty straightforward, especially if you have an existing wired mount. I did not. I had to tie into another exterior light's power and run a few feet through the attic. If you have an existing mount and are just repolacing an old light with this, you should really only need a ladder, a couple screwdriver and three wire nuts. For a replacement, you shoukd be able to di it in 15 to 20 minutes. Once installed, adding it to an existing system is a cinch. Just go into the app, add a new product, and follow the simple instructions. If this is your first foray into Ring, you'll need to download the app first. One note: In order to get cloud storage and AI, you will need a paid subscription plan with Ring. I already have this for unlimited cameras, so it's straight forward for me. The good news, is the yearly fee is pretty reasonable compared to some competitors. You will also need the subscription to get the AI event descriptions. I have found the AI to be pretty accurate, and honestly, sometimes, entertaining. For example, we have a large, grey, fluffy cat that roams the neighborhood. Sometimes the AI will see her and say "A racoon is walking near the pathway". But usually, it's pretty spot-on. As for motion detection, it's honestly maybe TOO good. I had to adjust the motion detection down, and adjust for what it was looking to detect. I don't need to know that bee or a fly came by. But that's not a complaint, that's a compliment. Video quality is excellent. I have the "Pro" version of this in 4K, and to my eye, the video between the two is a difference without a distinction. Again, a compliment. The spotlight is also excellent. Compared to the Pro, again, I can't tell a difference. One thing I do prefer Ring over Google Nest, is the app for Ring is a little more intuitive than the Nest. You have a lot of control and choices for what get's detected, area's to be detected, timing on lights, etcetera. In all, an excellent choice, and yes, I would reccomend to a friend.

We've had flood light cameras around our house for a long time, and we switched to the Ring cameras when they first came out and this version is absolutely amazing, better in different ways that we like and enjoy. First the light came nicely packaged and it arrived with its hardware, screwdriver with both Phillips and flat head on the other side. When it comes to the installation, is very easy, the Ring application is very helpful, it walked me step by step on how to install it, location, and troubleshooting as well. Once it is installed, the setup is also easy, once connected to our Wi-Fi it is also easy to follow the instructions, setting up the notifications and much more. We can setup the motion detection to go off and notify us when someone is near, the light can turn on or stay off too. The video is very nice and clear, color video day and night is amazing, and it is very clear, we can zoom in to see more details than ever before. When it comes to the light, it is bright and it can be dimmed to our preference. Another thing we like is the siren, it can be activated in different ways, by tapping on the app to turn on or when the Ring alarm is triggered, the siren can also alert the outside. The two-way audio works great, once in front of the camera we can use the app from our phone, tablet, pc to talk to whomever is in front of the camera, we can listen to them too, best of all it is clear. Overall, the camera is great, it captures clear and in color day or night. The siren is a great addition, the two-way talk helps us to easily talk to whoever is in front of the camera, and security has been upgraded with these and many other features.

I needed some more light on the driveway at night and thought I'd try one with a camera. On the core job of showing you what's happening out there, it does its part. The wide-angle lens does a nice job of showing the full area rather than a narrow slice. It's easy to see the full context of anything that might be going on at a glance. The out-of-box experience deserves real credit, too. This is the cleverest packaging I've seen on nearly any product — easy to open, everything laid out so you can find what you need, and it just moves you along toward getting it mounted. It's a small thing that put me in a good mood as I was getting started. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. The installation screws are on the short side, and you feel it most when you're trying to compress the foam seal against the mount — there's not much thread left to grab once that gasket pushes back. It took me ten tries to get the included nuts to grab the thread. After that it took me even more effort to get the nuts screwed down to the point I was confident the flood light would not come off. It's workable, but budget a little patience. Unfortunately you can't even swap out the screws yourself since they are built into the mount. Moving into the operation: The light is bright and has a good color. It helps the surrounding area show up cleanly in the camera. The camera has decent picture quality in night view mode. It is black and white at night. The full color mode operates during daylight hours or when the flood light has turned on. As wide as the view is, the picture isn't sharp. I couldn't make out a license plate on a vehicle parked immediately adjacent to the garage — right in front of the camera, not down the street. So you get the shape of the story but not the fine print. It'll tell you someone's in the driveway; it won't tell you which car. Now the catch that matters most, and it's the same rent-your-own-hardware story: without a subscription, the notifications are close to worthless. No pictures, no thumbnails, no saved video, and no package notification. The AI video review that's front and center in the marketing? Premium subscription only. Standalone, this device just isn't worth paying for. Given what the subscription costs, Amazon should borrow the cell-phone playbook — make the device "free" if you commit to a minimum subscription term. At least then you'd know what you're actually buying: the service, with the camera thrown in. Bottom Line: A wide, capable set of eyes with the best packaging in the business and a couple of thoughtful setup touches — held back by soft detail and, mostly, by a subscription that turns the hardware into half a product until you start paying monthly. If you want broad awareness of your property and you're fine paying the ongoing fee, it'll do the job. If you need to actually read a plate or a face, or you expect a camera you bought to work without renting it, look elsewhere.

The Ring 2K Floodlight plus is the second-generation floodlight from Ring it offers 2K video resolution or Ring brands it “retinal vision 2K” which is essentially their HDR. The floodlight includes two-way talk, motion detection and relies on Ring’s cloud service for video storage as there is no onboard storage with Ring devices, you must have a subscription to see anything other than Live View. The usefulness of the floodlight is greatly reduced without an active subscription, only providing motion alerts and live view, as well as two-way conversation. I am little adverse to devices which require cloud services and without substantial functionality is lost. As with other Ring devices, the image quality is good (2K) if you want 4K video Ring has other models which are capable of that resolution. 2K retinal vision still provides a good image, and it’s advertised 6 times zoom (which is a digital zoom) the detail, however license plates might still be difficult to make out details of. As with most Ring products, two-way audio is pretty good there's not much latency, so you can have a conversation with someone at the door, via your mobile device if needed. Also detection to alert time is quick, with no delay or wait for live view or playback. Having a good Wi-Fi signal to the device also improves time to live view, 2-way talk and video from the cloud. As for installation, DIYers’ install is fairly easy, although not well documented with only an online guide which lacked detail and skipped several steps. If you do not regularly install wired devices or fixtures, professional help may be needed. IMPORTANT NOTE: this floodlight is meant to be installed on a vertical (wall), like above a garage. It is not designed for horizontal use cases (like on the corners of homes on the soffit). The floodlight installed horizontally, but you may find the light housing (sunshade/brim) to be upside down and have limited aiming ability to aim the lights and camera/motion sensor. The ring floodlight plus 2K is a good solution if you are already invested in their ecosystem and currently subscribe to their service for other devices in your home. It carries over functionality and improves in most areas from the previous generation. Several different Ring monthly/annual plans exist with increasing features and functionality, including incorporating AI for event description and object recognition. The Ring Floodlight Cam, Wired (newest model) with Wide-Angle Retinal 2K Video, 6x Enhanced Zoom, Ultra-Bright Floodlights in white is a good candidate for your floodlight surveillance needs. Ring has made it fairly simple to install. Installation of this floodlight would have been one of the easiest I've done, but there are some improvements to be made. It comes with a bunch of packets of screws. Some are for attaching your bracket to the electrical box, and others are for the center of that bracket to attach the plastic base to the box. The problem is you don't know which is which until you open them up, because there are no instructions included. I also had an issue with the center threads in the metal bracket stripped out. I barely tried to tighten it, and it kept spinning. I was able to find a slightly larger screw in my collection and re-tapped the hole, and it worked. There is a how-to for the installation in the app, but I only get to that part trying to connect the camera to my WIFI. This floodlight has a warmer color light compared to other's I've tried out, and at 2000 lumens, it's plenty bright to light up the area around your home. The wide angle camera is the widest I've seen so far. The picture quality is stunning and you can zoom in up to 6x. You can also live view this camera and have a two-way conversation. If you want to capture videos and have playback of events, you will need to pay for a subscription. You do get a 30-day trial, but once the trial is over, you revert to the basic features. A lot of the features are behind a paywall/ subscription. There are three tiers, but basically Those features are video recording, video playback and sharing, advanced notifications like person or package detection with video preview. There are better options the higher the tier. Overall it's a great floodlight camera if you don't mind paying for a subscription service. The cheapest plan adds an extra $49.99 a year, and goes up to $199.99 a year.

I received the 2nd Gen Floodlight Cam and it is another great Ring product! We already had the Floodlight Cam Wired Pro from 2023 and upgraded to this new version. This is a wonderful upgrade! The installation of the 2nd Gen floodlight was super simple to switch out with our older version. The box came with everything you need to install if it was your first Cam. Wonderfully and safely packaged camera and a little box that holds your Ring screwdriver, a bracket and the various hardware you may need to mount it, along with caps! Also included was another ring label you can use to let people know you have a ring installed product. Installation instruction can also be accessed by scanning the QR code and it walks you thru installation. Cut the power, remove old camera, install new camera, adjust settings, connect to Ring app and connect it to your wifi (2.4 Ghz wifi - not 5G). Super simple to get this done. The 2nd gen has a great camera (2k) video quality which offers a much sharper image, 2000 Lumens lights, Retinal 2k, motion detection, and easy options on the app to set it up for your home placement. Our driveway coverage is so clear and covers some of our neighbors yard as well with setting specific zones - so that is helpful for them! If you already have a Ring subscription, then it is just an addition on to the Ring app. We also have the Ring doorbell so the whole front of our house is pretty covered. I do love the security it offers with deliveries, being able to know when they arrive with time stamps on the app. Setting up the sensitivity is simple to do and adjustment after a few tries. I would definitely recommend this product!!

This 2nd Gen outdoor camera really steps up my outdoor monitoring. The improved 2K clarity, the 2000 lumen spotlights, and 2-way communication are a perfect addition to the Ring system. Starting with the installation, you need to be comfortable with wiring this into a new or existing junction box. In my case this replaced an old floodlight so I didn’t need to perform any additional wiring. It is as simple as removing the existing outdoor light fixture, and mount this to the junction box. It’s no different than replacing any light fixture. The included kit makes installing this very easy. The camera requires a 2.4Ghz wi-fi connection. It doesn’t support the newer wi-fi protocols. This is fine for me since it manages crystal clear videos. The range on the 2.4Ghz signal is better than the faster speeds in most applications. I found the spotlights to be a warmer pleasant white than the glaring white in other led lights. At 2000 lumens, it’s roughly the equivalent to the high beams on your car. Once installed it’s a simple matter of adding to your ring app and enjoying the view. We’ve seen Deer, raccoons, and possums with the lights and camera capabilities. For quality and value, I’ve never been disappointed with any of my Ring products.

I recently added the Ring Floodlight Cam Wire to my existing Ring setup, and it synced seamlessly with my Ring doorbell. Having everything managed in one app makes it easy to monitor my home and receive notifications from all my devices in one place. Installation was straightforward. I followed the included instructions along with the installation video, and the process was easy to complete. The app walked me through setup step by step, and connecting the camera to my existing Ring ecosystem only took a few minutes. Hard part was getting things lined up and straight but that’s on me. The video quality is sharp, and the wide-angle view provides excellent coverage of my driveway and front yard. The floodlights are very bright and light up the area well when motion is detected. Overall, it's a great addition to the Ring ecosystem and works perfectly with my existing devices. If you're already using Ring products, this is an easy upgrade that expands your home's security without adding any complexity. I wish Ring had option for local storage I’m not a fan of the subscription model.

I have always been a fan of the Ring ecosystem. I have various different cameras around my property and I have always found that they work very well. Our floodlight camera was getting old and I figured it was time for an upgrade. Out of the box you can tell this is a well-built product. It feels sturdy and that it will be able to withstand the elements very well. I live in southern Wisconsin so we get a wide gamut of very hot and very cold weather. I have never once had a ring product fail because of the weather. So, I have no doubt this will last as well! Getting it set up is very easy. This is the hard wired version, so if you aren’t comfortable with tampering with electrical devices, definitely hire an electrician or local handyman to get it installed. I installed it myself, and the installation was a breeze. If you have ever installed a floodlight before, you will have no problem with this. Once you get it installed, then you just go into the ring app and select to add a new device and then go through the guided setup process. Once it is installed you will first notice how amazing the video looks. This floodlight camera has great 2K video. Note that if you have a slower internet connection, the streaming video might not look as good, but if you download a recorded video, it will be in the amazing 2K quality. These are a lot like other Ring cameras where you can change the sensitivity, set up detection zones, change what you want it to detect like people, vehicles, animals, or everything. There are tons of customization options to get the cameras working exactly how you want them. We live in a duplex, so I always set up a zone so I only know if someone is coming in our driveway and to send me an alert, but I have it set up so it doesn’t cover my neighbor’s driveway so I don’t get a lot of false alerts for people visiting our neighbors. I found that it worked perfectly. I was getting notifications on my phone very quickly whenever a event happened as well. There is little to no lag from when the event happens and when you get a notification on your phone. This camera also features the live view with 2-way communication. So, lets say someone pulls up in your driveway that you don’t know and you don’t want them there, you can talk to them through the camera and you will be able to hear anything they say as well. This is great for not having to leave your house and still being able to deal with a potential situation before it happens. There is also a siren you can activate as well if you really want to get rid of someone. I found all of the features to work well and I was clearly able to hear people in the driveway, and they were very easily able to hear me as well. As far as the floodlights go, they are very bright and easily light up our 4-car driveway completely. There are settings to change the brightness as well. Overall, I am extremely happy with this upgrade to my Ring security system. If you already have Ring cameras, this is a no-brainer to buy! If you are looking to add some security to your home, you can’t go wrong with Ring products. They are solid and reliable and the company has great technical support if you ever need it.
