Ring - Floodlight Cam, Wired (newest model) — Wide-Angle Retinal 2K Video, 6x Enhanced Zoom, Ultra-Bright Floodlights - White

This Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Retinal 2K (2nd Gen) has almost the exact same design and construction as the 1st Gen, with only a few noticeable differences. Although it is mostly made of plastic, it feels very durable. My 1st Gen units have been working reliably for over eight years, which gives me confidence in Ring's build quality. One of the most noticeable changes is the camera housing. It maintains the same overall appearance, but the 1st Gen had an outer glass cover protecting both the camera and sensors. On this 2nd Gen model, the camera lens is more exposed, although it is still protected by its own glass. The spotlight arms are also shorter and offer a little less adjustment flexibility than the original. Another small change is that there is no longer a need to tighten the middle section of the arm. The spotlights themselves appear to be identical to those on the previous generation. Installation is extremely simple, even for someone who has never installed one before. The only tool I used was the one included in the box. Removing my old unit, installing the new one, and completing the setup through the Ring app took about 20 minutes. I especially liked the redesigned mounting bracket that attaches to the electrical box. It allows you to temporarily hang the camera while connecting the wiring, making installation much easier. You also have the option of connecting the camera directly to your Wi-Fi network or, if you own a Ring Chime like I do, connecting it through that. Performance has been excellent. Ring cameras have always been reliable for me, and my 1st Gen is still functioning after nearly a decade. Video quality is slightly improved, with a clearer image, better digital zoom, and a wider field of view. While the upgrade does provide some improvement, the difference isn't dramatic. The speaker is another improvement I noticed. It sounds a little louder and clearer than the previous generation. The spotlights provide plenty of brightness, with a warm white color, but I didn't notice any significant improvement over the original model. The siren is noticeable, but it isn't extremely loud and sounds about the same as the 1st Gen. If you're already familiar with Ring products, this camera offers the same user-friendly experience. The app is easy to navigate, with clearly labeled menus and settings. Aside from configuring motion zones and motion alerts, the camera works great right out of the box without requiring much tweaking. Overall, the Ring Floodlight Cam is an excellent security camera at a reasonable price. It offers easy installation, dependable performance, good video quality, durable construction, and a reasonably priced subscription plan. If you're looking for a reliable floodlight security camera, this is a great option. However, if you already own a 1st Gen model that's still working well, I don't think it's worth upgrading. The differences are fairly minor and mostly cosmetic. In the box, you'll find the Ring Floodlight Cam, the installation hardware, and the instruction manual.

Being a part of this program, I have had the opportunity to use A LOT of camera systems. For me, I have two favorites, with a running tie between Ring and Nest. With my current system being these two, they are both great systems and they do different things very. This Ring Floodlight camera fits right in. install was pretty straightforward, especially if you have an existing wired mount. I did not. I had to tie into another exterior light's power and run a few feet through the attic. If you have an existing mount and are just repolacing an old light with this, you should really only need a ladder, a couple screwdriver and three wire nuts. For a replacement, you shoukd be able to di it in 15 to 20 minutes. Once installed, adding it to an existing system is a cinch. Just go into the app, add a new product, and follow the simple instructions. If this is your first foray into Ring, you'll need to download the app first. One note: In order to get cloud storage and AI, you will need a paid subscription plan with Ring. I already have this for unlimited cameras, so it's straight forward for me. The good news, is the yearly fee is pretty reasonable compared to some competitors. You will also need the subscription to get the AI event descriptions. I have found the AI to be pretty accurate, and honestly, sometimes, entertaining. For example, we have a large, grey, fluffy cat that roams the neighborhood. Sometimes the AI will see her and say "A racoon is walking near the pathway". But usually, it's pretty spot-on. As for motion detection, it's honestly maybe TOO good. I had to adjust the motion detection down, and adjust for what it was looking to detect. I don't need to know that bee or a fly came by. But that's not a complaint, that's a compliment. Video quality is excellent. I have the "Pro" version of this in 4K, and to my eye, the video between the two is a difference without a distinction. Again, a compliment. The spotlight is also excellent. Compared to the Pro, again, I can't tell a difference. One thing I do prefer Ring over Google Nest, is the app for Ring is a little more intuitive than the Nest. You have a lot of control and choices for what get's detected, area's to be detected, timing on lights, etcetera. In all, an excellent choice, and yes, I would reccomend to a friend.

If you already have Ring devices and a Ring subscription this Wide-Angle Retinal 2K video Floodlight Cam may be for you. I needed coverage on my walkout basement door. There was an existing switched light but no camera coverage in an area with limited visibility. This Floodlight Cam was just what I was looking for. What’s in the box: Ring Floodlight Cam Assortment of mounting screws Wire nuts Screwdriver Mounting bracket Protected by Ring sticker The floodlight cam came with all the necessary mounting hardware and an assortment of screws to ensure it would work with most existing junction boxes. Installation is pretty straightforward. First and foremost, turn off the power to the existing light. Double check to make sure it’s off. Then remove the old light, wire up and mount the Floodlight Cam and test. If you have a standard junction box, standard wiring and a flat vertical mounting surface you are good to go. I didn’t have a standard junction box and my siding isn’t exactly vertical. But I made it work without much difficulty. After you turn the power back on, go into the Ring app on your phone and go through the “add device” process, (or just point your phone camera at the small QR code printed on the device) then you should be good to go. Do note that this device needs ac power. It’s not a battery cam. If you are replacing an existing switched light, that switch needs to remain in the on position. The device also needs WiFi to send the video and to access the camera. The camera captures my entire patio area in its 140 degree field of view. It would be very difficult to get to my back door without activating the motion sensors. As an added bonus, the LED lights are nice and bright. There is also audio capture and two way talk. This floodlight cam came with a 30 day trial Ring subscription. But I already had a Ring subscription that supports multiple devices. If you don’t have an existing Ring subscription, you will need one to get access to the expected features. I have to say that I am impressed with the video quality. The camera is a long way from my router, yet the connection is solid. The motion detection is good too. In summary, this Ring Floodlight cam works reliably and even though the price feels a bit high, it’s worth it to me for the convenience and peace of mind.

We've had flood light cameras around our house for a long time, and we switched to the Ring cameras when they first came out and this version is absolutely amazing, better in different ways that we like and enjoy. First the light came nicely packaged and it arrived with its hardware, screwdriver with both Phillips and flat head on the other side. When it comes to the installation, is very easy, the Ring application is very helpful, it walked me step by step on how to install it, location, and troubleshooting as well. Once it is installed, the setup is also easy, once connected to our Wi-Fi it is also easy to follow the instructions, setting up the notifications and much more. We can setup the motion detection to go off and notify us when someone is near, the light can turn on or stay off too. The video is very nice and clear, color video day and night is amazing, and it is very clear, we can zoom in to see more details than ever before. When it comes to the light, it is bright and it can be dimmed to our preference. Another thing we like is the siren, it can be activated in different ways, by tapping on the app to turn on or when the Ring alarm is triggered, the siren can also alert the outside. The two-way audio works great, once in front of the camera we can use the app from our phone, tablet, pc to talk to whomever is in front of the camera, we can listen to them too, best of all it is clear. Overall, the camera is great, it captures clear and in color day or night. The siren is a great addition, the two-way talk helps us to easily talk to whoever is in front of the camera, and security has been upgraded with these and many other features.

Super easy to setup and use. I pulled off my older flood light and put the base mount up and hung the light on the strap holder. Which is a great feature to not drop the light. Only issue I ran into for installation was that there is a gap with foam and the wall. So I had put a little silicone to fill the gap. If you don't know how to aire this please hire an electrician or a handy person to do this for you or else you will mess this up or get hurt or elctrocuted. Anyway after installing setup was super easy. Because I have a ring account I just followed the prompts and I was in. If you don't have a ring account you will need to set one up. Also for continued ok online access you need to pay. This comes with a trial version but when it ends you will not have access to the detailed features and AI detect that is offered. Field of vision is the great. It spans the length of my driveway with the camera pretty much in the middle. It's about a 40 ft long driveway. Overall easy to use. Easy to get access. Easy to filter events. Bi directional talk and speaker are decent. There still is a slight lag but ok. Overall great camera. Great features for what is needed.
