You're thinking - hey control my Christmas lights, or some other outdoor thing that plugs into an outlet - with my fun Ring app. Right? You already own other Ring devices, maybe a doorbell, a security system, some door locks, light switches. Wow outdoor control would be sweet to add that. Think again. You need a $50 box to make this thing work. And that silly box has ultra limited range. And that box can't be extended or used with more than one in the system. And it works on an ancient useless bandwidth your grandpa used for cordless phones, 900MHz. The Ring BRIDGE - that is the device required to make this work. Oh that's different from the base station. You have to buy the BRIDGE even if you have a ton of other devices. The great news, and why I love this outlet, it is super well made. The waterproof specs for it are outstanding. You will need to point the outlets downward if you are using this out in the open. The outlet covers seal up incredibly well. When setting it up, have the outlet near the bridge. You can unplug it after setup. Setup is surprisingly easy - just follow the app instructions. I usually hate that advice, in this case it works just great. In the Ring app the outlets can be named. They can be grouped with other lights. Or they can be turned off or on independently. And the app allows schedules - like dusk to dawn based on your location. The use cases for this spans a pretty big range - control low voltage lights, Christmas lights, outdoor patio lights... anything that can be plugged into a 110V outlet. Ring needs to be far clearer about what is required to make this work. And the horrible limitations of that Bridge device. They built a really great outdoor outlet and then hobbled it with a crummy connection.

If you already are in the Ring ecosystem this is a great add on at a very reasonable price. We use the ring smart plug for outdoor holiday lighting and they are far superior to any other ‘dumb’ timers we’ve used in the past. The plug uses the same ring app and each outlet can be on an independent schedule or turned on/off independently. The outlets also handle a good amount of draw without any issues (not quite Clark Griswold but I do have several splitters running off each outlet). Highly recommended.

I got these to put Christmas display stuff on a timer. It's nice that you can control each side separately. These are really heavy duty, heavy weight wise. Note: to use these you must have the Ring Light Bridge installed in your home. I already had one since I have Ring light bulbs indoors.

Careful. READ BEFORE BUYING. This only works in particular scenarios. I bought this and a new Ring bridge and after hours of failed setup and an hour plus on the phone with tech support I learned that this new plug only works with an old 1st generation bridge, which is not for sale anymore. Sure you can buy a 250 dollar ring alarm pro or an Echo Show, but who wants that. It says on this site and on the ring site that a ring bridge is supported, but doesn't specify 1st gen only. I spoke with ring for an hour plus and they do nothing to support this problem, no discounts on bridges, even though both of my bridge and plug are out of the return window by a week. HORRIBLE service. Unless you have a 1st gen bridge, ring alarm pro... Avoid

I have purchased this right before I moved and forgot I had it. When I found it, I was beyond excited! If it’s in with my ring devices and comes in handy for Christmas decorations. If you’re fortunate enough enough to have decorations all year round and use ring, this is a true gift!

Great product!! I have a full ring alarm system and 6 cameras with 2 doorbells. I have recently added ring bulbs to my outdoor fixtures that turn on and off on a schedule. I have 2 of these units. One I use to put my pool filter on a schedule and to control the string lights in my backyard. The second I just bought to control my Christmas lights. These work great with Alexa as well.

I bought this because I went with a bunch of Ring products and I had another lesser known brand that wasn't compatible. Using this for Xmas lights we use to light up backyard and bug zapper. So far So good. A 3rd or 4th plug in the same wrapper would've been nice vs just 2 but we'll live.

Well, I didn't realize when I bought this that it required a bridge or similar product to work. So, I bought the bridge, set it up and I can't get this device to recognize there is already a bridge set up. I've gone through the process at least 15 times trying all the hints and tricks and I've given up. I am a fairly technical person, but I met my match on this one. Unfortunately, I threw away the boxes already so I can't return everything. Painful lesson learned, but luckily I'm not out an exorbitant amount of money!

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. To connect the device to your Ring system, there are a few troubleshooting steps that may help resolve this issue. First, please try restarting your Ring Bridge by inserting a pin into the pinhole on the side of the device and pressing for one to five seconds. This will restart the Bridge without clearing your data and clear any temporary connection issues. Wait a few minutes for it to fully reconnect before attempting the Smart Plug setup again. If the issue persists, you can also perform a full factory reset on the Bridge by pressing and holding the pin for more than 10 seconds. The Bridge will need to be set up again, and once it is set up, your lights will automatically reconnect. Additionally, performing a factory reset on the Outdoor Smart Plug itself can help. Press and hold the center button on the plug for about 15 seconds until the light pattern changes, then try the setup process again through the Ring app. During setup, placing the Bridge as close to the Smart Plug as possible can also improve the connection.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, we recommend getting in touch with Ring's Customer Support team by calling our 24/7 support line, using our chat now feature, or reaching out to our Ring Community site. The Ring smart plugs are a great addition in the ring family. Allowing you to add items to the outside of your home (string lights,X-mas lights, fans and so on. Leave them plugged in and control from the app or schedule a timer. First one worked so good. I bought a second one

great idea! Love this! Use it as a way to know for sure that the pool pump was shut off in the back yard after young adults used the pool after we hit the hay.

Got 5 of these to use for Christmas lights outside and for our Christmas trees inside. Has 2 outlets on each plug and each outlet can have its own schedule. Super easy to navigate and use in your existing ring app. Must buy the bridge to utilize fully tho, but totally worth it

This plug is great! I only had been using one of the plugs but I wanted two areas of lights on my yard to shut off at different times so I just began using A and B. So convenient! Purchased two more!
