I'm completely blown away by this new Shark BreatheClear MAX by NeverChange Air Purifier. It's remarkable in its simple operation, but its perhaps the most intelligently capable air purifier I've ever seen or used. It comes nicely packaged as you'd expect from Shark. The first thing you do when you unbox it, is unscrew the bottom of the purifier to remove the HEPA Filer, and remove the protective plastic wrap it's in, then reinsert it and tighten the bottom lid back in place. There's a QR Code you can scan, which takes you to the user guide and included in the box is a one page sheet which describes the settings and controls. To be honest it's pretty self-explanatory in setting it up. When this purifier turns on, it goes through a calibration process, which takes about 6 minutes to complete. Once it's done calibrating on the top of the purifier is a row of touch sensitive controls, which includes: Power - Settings - My Air IQ (which when tapped provides information about the air in your home) - Breath Clear (a setting which automatically adjusts fan speed based on the air quality in the room) - Up Button (to go up the menu options presented) - Check Button (to confirm the setting you've selected) - Down Button (to go down the menu options presented). It's simple and intuitive to set up. You then have the option to set up the day and time, Sleep Mode (which dims the lights and sounds at a predetermined start and stop time). You can change the level of brightness of the screen or even turn it off if you don't want the screen to display any data. But I wouldn't do this personally, as the information provided is quite helpful. For example, I grilled steaks tonight and the purifier immediately sensed the smells of cooking and took immediate action to go to work cleaning the air. The screen also displays the clean air level in the room, plus changes color from Dark Blue (95% - 100% Clean Air), Light Blue (85% - 94% Clean Air), Yellow (60% - 84% Clean Air), Orange (30% to 59% Clean Air) and Red (0% to 29% Clean Air). After cooking the steaks, the purifier changed to Red and the fan speed increased automatically to purify the air and it did so quietly and efficiently. It took about an hour for the scent of cooking to be completely gone! Shark says this is a Never Change Filter Air Purifier. It's not quite never as they suggest the filter is good for 6 years. But it will need to be vacuumed or wiped with a cloth towel to remove debris on an average of every 8 weeks. It intelligently will let you know when it's time to clean the filter, which is good. The display is a high resolution LCD and it's super crisp and easy to read. This is a rather large device, as it was designed to purify the air in a room up to 1650 Square Feet, but again, it's so quiet, you won't really hear it doing its thing. The purifier continuously filters smoke and pollutants (including pet dander) VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds, found in car exhaust, cleaning products, grooming products, etc.). And with advanced scanning, this puppy scans the air 3600x per hour. It also senses motion and boosts purification power when motion has been detected to proactively remove dust and other particles in the air. Shark is a company I trust to enhance my life. Every Shark product I've ever owned has never broken and some products I've used for several years now. They just build things which are well designed and engineered to last for years to come. This BreatheClear MAX Purifier is simply an amazing purifier and after only a few days in our home, it's making a tangibly positive impact on the quality of the air we breath. It doesn't get better than this. I HIGHLY recommend this purifier if you want better air quality in your home. And honestly, you SHOULD want better air quality in your home.

The Shark BreatheClear Max arrived extremely well packed, with enough protection that I wasn’t worried about damage during shipping. It is larger than I expected, but the size makes sense once you see the airflow design and filtration system. Setup is simple and well explained. The instructions are clear, though you do have to flip the unit over to remove the plastic from the filter before powering it on. After that, it’s essentially plug‑and‑go. The display screen is bright, easy to read, and gives you real‑time air quality feedback, which makes the technology feel both transparent and reassuring. What impressed me most is the filtration system. Shark’s “NeverChange” filter branding is a little confusing at first. The box says “zero filter changes” but also mentions saving up to $350 on replacements. It finally clicked that the savings refer to how long the filter lasts—not that it never needs replacing. After checking online, I learned the main filter is designed to last up to six years, which is far longer than typical HEPA units. You do still clean the prefilters every eight weeks with a vacuum or damp cloth, but that’s quick and easy. Performance-wise, the improvement was noticeable. My air quality reading started at 72%, and within just a few hours it climbed to 97%. The unit runs very quietly, even on higher settings, which makes it easy to forget it’s running at all. Between the quiet operation, the efficient filtration, and the real‑time air quality tracking, it gives a genuine sense of peace of mind. I’m especially excited to see whether it helps reduce dust levels throughout the house over time. Based on the early results, I’m optimistic.

I have the smaller version of this type of shark air purifier in a bedroom and I really love not changing the filters all the time so I had to try the big boy for the main living space and, oh my, did they update some stuff with this one. A full animation screen, more sensors, and sleep mode as well as other minor changes make this newest shark model worth getting. So right off the bat, this thing is big, not in a way that takes up a lot of space, but compared to all my single room purifiers we have (we have a lot, 5 total now), this is much larger. It's about the size of a kitchen garbage can. In such a large room though, this doesn't look big or out of place. It sits neatly in our living room next to some furniture. Once I got it out of the box and set up, including removing the filter from the bag that a LOT of reminders will thankfully tell you, the screen walked me through the setup process. I'm trying to remember exactly what it did but it was mostly things like setting up the clock and preferences. One of the preferences you can set is a sleep mode. I love this addition. It allows me to set a time to automatically turn on “sleep mode" which turns the screen off, motion sense off and sets the fan to low until the time I choose. Even though it's called "sleep” mode, this does not need to be set for when you sleep. I actually have it turn on in the evening when I'm usually watching TV on low volume while others are in bed but I have the mode stop in the middle of the night. This allows me to keep the tv volume low because the fan on the purifier isn't firing up and down. That said, the unit is pretty quiet until it gets to the top two speeds. And in the week I've had it so far, it hasn't stayed on high for long. The unit seems to clean the air quickly. The other 2 modes are static fan speeds (set the fan speed and it holds until you change it), and what shark calls “breath clear" mode which is basically auto mode. It uses air sensors to adjust the fan speed based on the purification level of the air. In this mode, if motion is detected, it will kick the fan up a notch for a bit. Shark says this is in anticipation of the air getting stirred and becoming worse with motion. Now, the motion detector setting can be turned off BUT it turns back on every time the mode changes. So the aforementioned sleep timer, yep, every time it turns on sleep then goes back to breathe clear, motion detect is back on. I'm not gonna lie, this really upset me. I do not like that Shark advertises the motion sensing as being something you can turn off when in fact, it turns ON automatically anytime the mode changes. So yes, you can turn it off in settings, but you have to go 5 steps into the menu to turn it off, and it will just come back on the next mode change. This upset me because I do not like the motion sensor making the fan burst up every time the dog goes by or someone moves in the living room. When watching tv, it's annoying to hear the fan going up and down a bunch. Usually I just switch it to low fan speed and have it go back to auto before I go to bed when it starts to annoy me. So after a week of use, I've figured out how to work with it, and thankfully the motion based speed boost doesn't last very long, but I really don't understand why the breathe clear mode can't remember the last choice and keep the motion sensor off. Also I can't see the motion sensor location, it's somewhere behind the screen, so there's no putting tape over it or something. Ok, but if the only complaint is a motion sensor setting that turns itself back on, it's a pretty darn good item. I have a few shark air purifiers and they all continue to work great, one as long as 6 years now. So I trust the brand, and I trust it to clean the air well. My thermostat has an air sensor in it as well and on average over a week, the air quality has been better for longer periods of the day since we installed this air purifier. So it's definitely doing a good job. With allergy sensitive people in the house and pet dander in the air, having clean air is a big deal. I feel like I finally got a beast that can keep up with our open concept living space. Even when someone starts cooking in the kitchen, the shark purifier sensors pick it up and the fan kicks in and starts cleaning the air. OVERALL I'm really happy with this shark air purifier. The light weight and narrow body fits just about anywhere and isn't an eye sore in the room. It can handle a large living space and the best part of all, I don't have to change a filter every month or so. There are 2 prefilters that are magnetically attached to the side and need to be vacuumed or dusted off every few months I think it was. But see, I don't need to remember because the machine does and it will tell me when it's time to clean them. So yeah, it's just a fantastic unit and I'm really happy to have it going in my house. The screen is modern and easy to read, the settings are easy to navigate and the set up was quick and easy. 10 minutes after opening the box, you can have it setup and walk away from it. Even with the annoying motion sensor you can't permanently turn off, I still would recommend this unit and am happy with it.

There are several odor issues we seem to have on our 2nd floor of our 2850 sq. ft. house. My wife seems to smell a mustiness periodically and I keep smelling residual odors from diaper changes yet neither can smell the other. The smell of cooked food always gets trapped up here too, although that is less bothersome. We also have a Siamese cat who sheds a lot and has a lot of dander, for that alone we need the help. Shark is saying the BreatheClear Max is their most powerful air purifier yet so our house should be able to put that to the test. We have a fair share of air purifiers and what really sealed the deal on this is the promise that I won’t have to change the filter for up to 6 (SIX!) years. If I can even get half of that, I’ll be happy. The BreatheClear Max is shorter than I expected but it does have a decent sized footprint due to the round body. It’s actually a very respectable size considering it’s rated for 1,650 sq. ft. When I take a step back, it actually reminds me of a propane tank. But a much prettier one, of course. The textured "dove" color is a little more fun than the usual just black or white you usually see. Plus, the front has a nice, different textured and speckled panel to accent the machine which helps gives the whole thing a more elegant look. First off, it’s extremely quiet. Even when the power kicks up from the motion feature the noise is still very mild. I love the large and bright animated LCD screen. I appreciate it showing the individual levels for the different particle sizes along with the overall cleanliness percentage. One screen also shows that same info but with the addition of current temperature and humidity level which thus far compared to my thermostat seems to be accurate. There are two design features I find really smart, as well. Though I joke about the machine looking like a propane tank with the round body, it serves a great purpose. The body is comprised of two side panels, each covering one of two large pre-filters. The panels have large openings but no grates covering the pre-filters. This allows complete air draw and removes any barriers for particles to get stuck on instead of going into the filters. The panels are held on by strong magnets making taking them out and cleaning them quick and easy. There’s no worrying about any plastic tabs potentially breaking. The other design feature I find really clever is the motion detection that raises the suction momentarily as you get near it. Movement causes the greatest stir of pollutants in the air, especially dust and pet hair and this feature takes advantage of that. The detection range seems pretty significant, as well. If for some reason you don’t want to utilize this, it can be shut off if desired, though. Lastly, I am very grateful for there being a child lock for the device. I have a 1 year old who quickly found the buttons and was having a great time pushing them repeatedly so this feature is invaluable. The only thing I have a problem with the Shark BreatheClear Max is the plug is one of those large adapter bricks. My Shark 3-in-1 Max Air purifier which has a built-in heater and fan even only has a regular standard plug. I’m not quite sure why this particular air purifier required the built-in brick adapter. It’s only a minor nuisance like when using a surge protector or where outlets are very close to furniture. Shark/Ninja continues to be one of my favorite companies. They always add and incorporate smart features and designs that actually make sense. After a couple of days, both my wife and I really did notice a difference in the air quality on our 2nd floor. Besides us not smelling any of those other smells thus far and it quickly taking care of cooking odors, the air in general just feels better. Our Shark air purifier does an amazing job downstairs but up to this point we only had smaller, individual machines in each room upstairs that only do a marginal job. For sure we are now going to be able to unplug at least two of them because the BreatheClear Max gets the job done.

My wife has been suggesting a first floor (kitchen, living, and family room areas) air purifier primarily to reduce, if not completely eliminate, my seafood cooking aromas (my word; her’s is odors), that tend to linger on way past bedtime. Appears our strategically placed air freshers are not cutting it... During the summer season I try to air-fry and grill outdoors, but inclement weather conditions can prevent it. I need a solution or go without my shrimp, fish tacos, salmon burgers, and my famous crab spaghetti sauce dinners. What to do? Well, we just discovered the perfect solution for fresher whole house air that actually eliminates cooking smells in a timely manner. This Shark-Ninja BreatheClear MAX can eliminate odors while it purifies the air. It accomplishes this monumental feat through its advanced electronic sensing abilities and dual side filtering before hitting the very large HEPA filter. After using for the past three days, we both can honestly state “it works”! Size wise, it is not a small table top device, so keep in mind it does take up floor real estate. It is about the footprint of a 30-pound propane tank and sort-of resembles one too. But it is very light weighing in at 15.4 pounds and easily moveable to other living areas. Plus, it is very quiet when running. Setup was quick and painless. Remove from the box, remove tape on side panels, the bottom Hepa filter access panel, and the two side first stage filters. Then remove the Hepa filter from its sealed bag and reinstall. Plug in and follow the display panel setup instructions / options using the top touch-sensitive buttons. You’re done. And thank you Shark for not requiring another mobile device application to configure and use with another online account! The unit will begin its initial monitoring of the surrounding air quality displaying the precent completion status on its circular color display. It actually required about 48 hours for it to reach its initial 100% completion. And I must mention one interesting feature is its ability to sense movement. If you walk in close proximity, or if the surrounding air is disturbed, it will alter you (display only, no beeping noises) and begin testing, monitoring, and cleaning the air at a slightly increased fan speed if required. The previous 2024 model included “Odor Neutralizer Technology” by way of replaceable pod sized cartridges. Initially, I was somewhat disappointed this 2026 version did not include that option. But after reading some of those reviewers stating they just did not use them, I thought it probably was not that useful of a feature. Anyway, I quickly realized that all you need to do is sit any type of air purifier or room freshener on top and voilà, “Odor Neutralizer Technology” restored. This 2026 model also states extended filter life, up to 6-years. In addition to larger 1,650 Sq. Ft. Whole-Home Coverage versus the previous model. And I do believe the “Senses More to React Faster” incorporated advanced sensors are a technological improvement over the previous 2024 model. RATING: After using the Shark - BreatheClear™ MAX by NeverChange Air Purifier, both my wife and I believed it earned itself a 5-Star Rating. Add another Star if you are able to pick up while on sale. .

This is my review of the Shark BreatheClear MAX by NeverChange Air Purifier upon which I rate at 5 out of 5 stars. Out of the box, the unit comes fully assembled with attached AC power cord along with a quick start guide. The unit is lightweight at slightly over 15 pounds. You will find its handle on the back as it will be used to transport the device (not on wheels) to the room(s) of your home. I do particularly like the off-white grayish color as it blends into most decor. Before its first use, you will need to lay the unit on its top on soft surface to avoid scratching and remove the HEPA filter cover. Then you will need to extract this filter and remove it from its plastic packaging. Once the filter is re-installed, cover replaced, and unit back on its rubber feet, you are ready to turn it on. Upon turning the unit on, the screen will yield a blue "hello." At this point, the unit will go into a calibration mode, so let it do its thing and come back in about 5 minutes. After the calibration, you can use the settings button to walk yourself through all of the settings of date, time, brightness, sleep mode, etc. There are some nice features like the motion sensor (Smart Motion) setting which activates the unit while walking by giving it a boost in speed to pick up any dust particles. The sleep mode is another nice feature where you set your normal beginning and ending sleep times to place the unit is a quieter mode and also turn of the front facing LED indicator screen. I keep my unit in an automatic mode for air purification. It runs silently in the background and if it detects any triggering air quality issues, the fan speed will increase. This is all specified in the unit's BreathClear technology along with a LED screen color code of percentage of air quality. I found this unit very discerning in detecting air pollutants. My unit resides in my master bedroom and when frying some bacon in the kitchen, some 90-feet away, and 30-minutes later, the unit started going into fair air quality triggering higher fan speeds. I let the unit run it its auto mode and some 2+ hours later it was back up to 98+%. The unit has very little maintenance other than making sure the top grill is free of debris and removing its two side panels to check the HEPA pre-filter mesh (Debris Defense Pro) screens. These screens extend the life of your filter by trapping larger dust, debris, and pet hair. They can easily be removed for cleaning on a schedule you see fit or just wait for the unit to trigger an alert notifying you they need to be cleaned. This HEPA filter delivers up to 6-years of air purification all covering up to 1,650-square feet. On a side note, it is worth mentioning that this is a self-sufficient (manual) unit not utilizing, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or remotes. All necessary feature changes need to be made on the unit's top control panel. I hope enjoyed reading my review and it helped in your purchasing decision!

The Shark Breathe Clear Max Air Purifier is very impressive. Unboxing it and getting it up and running is very easy. Shark has a QR code on the product body that you scan and it brings you to setup instructions. Once you are up and running you can set functions to auto and this sleek looking air purifier goes to work. A color screen shows what is happening in the moment. The air purifier is said to trap 99% of particulates as equipped with a lifetime filter, and 2 secondary filters. My one complaint is Shark calling the air filter a lifetime filter. It is NOT. When you drill down into the instructions, the filter has a life expectancy and that is 5 years. Not lifetime. The filter is replaceable for something just under one hundred bucks. The 2 secondary filters are washable and should be washed every couple of months. The filtration system is exceptional, exceeding all the industry standards. With results of 99% you know this filter is top notch. The onboard screen is awesome. The up to the minute monitoring tells you an assortment of information. It analyzes air quality. It senses motion and with it particulate movement. It measures VOCs and provides weekly data for review. The multi speed functionality is top notch and in the auto mode the fan speed adjusts as needed to clean the air. Sensing bad air the fan moves to high and cleans the air before returning to a low speed to maintain air quality. You can override the auto feature and use the eadily accessible top of the unit buttons as you wish. There even is a sleep mode. The unit runs on minamal kw hours which will cost under .08 per day to operate. We have a woodstove and this air purifier proves its worth by sensing the burn and then quickly cleaning the air. Sleek looking and appealing as a look of a piece of furniture I anticipate many years of effective use. Shark has a reputation of making quality innovative products and this air purifier is just that.

The Shark BreatheClear Max comes well packaged. This unit is LARGE! Unpacking and setup is relatively easy. Take it out of the box. Flip the unit over. Remove the bottom cover. Remove the hepa filter. Remove the bag over the HEPA filter and place it in the BreatheClear Max. Screw the cover back on. Remove all the tape on the unit. Plug in the BreatheClear Max and you are ready for setup. The front display will walk you through the set up steps. The final set up is the unit calibration which took about 8 minutes. Now you are cleaning your air. The BreatheClear Max scans the air about 3600 times per hour. The recommendation is to place the BreatheClear Max on the floor. We placed ours on the second floor of a two story home. Our unit started at about 70% clean. The speed increased until the air was 82% clean. Now the speed decreased to a very quiet setting. The lowest measurement I have seen so far is 52%. I have never seen 100% clean air. I usually see between 88% and 98% clean air quality. I did set up the sleep mode so the lights go off at night and the unit is super quiet. There are many nice features I really like with the BreatheClear Max: Scanning the room 3600 times per hour to optimize the air quality. Showing the concentration of different size air particles. Mine usually range from 5-12 ug/m3. Showing your air quality week snapshot. My average is 87%. Filter lasts up to 6 years. If your health and air quality is important to you, as it is to me, you will love this BreatheClear Max! The price is a little on the high side. I imagine you will be able to find it on sale. I recommend this product.

Often we want our technology purchases to be flashy and noticed. That big screen TV, that awesome sound system, the smart color changing lights on the exterior of your house. The Shark BreatheClear Max is the complete opposite. For me it falls into the category of things that you just want to work, but don’t want people to overly notice it while it’s doing its job cleaning the air. I had an older shark air filter from the pre covid days that worked well, but some of the lights on the buttons stopped working and it was starting to get to be a little more working finding replace filters every 6 months or so. It did its job but with the rectangular shape, the size, and the loudness when it had to clean the air made you very aware of its presence. The BreatheClear Max takes care of those gripes and more. For one, with the never change filter system, replacing the filter is a thing of past. Shark states it could save you several hundred dollars in filter replacements. Since I have only had the Max running for a week, there is no way to judge that other than knowing the cost of the filters, they are not lying. Never change does not mean never maintain though. There are prefilters that do need cleaning monthly or so to keep peak performance, so keep that in mind. Next the BreatheClear Max is pretty quiet. It’s completely silent when its just working its normal magic. It’s equipped with multiple sensors to obviously detect air quality and orders, and also one to detect motion. The thinking behind it is, if something or someone moves around it, the air quality is going to suffer to some extent. So once the machine detects motion, it kicks into another gear to clean the air quicker. It’s pretty neat and probably the only time you really notice that the BreatheClear Max is on, unless you burn food while cooking like I do! From the display on the unit, you can see the current air quality, and you can also scroll thru different screens to get a sense of how your air quality is over the last week or so. This analysis also shows the specific particles that are leading to the varying air quality over time. Finally, on the size and shape of the BreatheClear Max. It is pretty big. It’s shorter than the previous machine I had from shark and more circular. It does fit nicely in a corner so it can do its thing somewhat out of sight. I do notice that the time to clean the air if there are particles/odors to clean is a bit longer than previous, I’m attributing that behavior more to placement in a corner vs middle of room and perhaps the older machine sensors weren’t giving as accurate of a measurement. Also, I’m pretty certain that the BreatheClear Max also clears more square footage, 1,650 sq ft per the specifications. All of this is factoring into the increase in time to clean I’m noticing. All in, I’m happy with this upgrade and is worth checking out if you’re in the market for an air filter system.

I am a self proclaimed fan of Shark products. It certainly seems like they have some of the very smartest and most talented engineers and designers in the helpful home products category. From air purification systems, to vacuum cleaners, to personal blenders, coffee makers, and more, Shark has something in their extensive lineup that would benefit just about anyone. As a user of various Shark products for over 10 years, I can honestly say that their longevity is second to none. When I initially set this air purifier up and ran the calibration in my large office studio, I was already running a purifier by another reputable brand that had its filter replaced only a few weeks before. That purifier was coasting along and the readout on the older unit stated that the air was perfectly clean. Once I changed to the Shark and fired it up, the display immediately gave me the reading and it was in the mid 70's! Over the next hour, I did see the air quality improve, but it was a pretty slow process. Before bed, it got to the mid 80's. By the next morning it was at 100. The only explanation I can come up with is that the Shark is simply more sensitive and thorough at air purification than the other brand. This is excellent news for the simple fact that if you are buying an air purifier, you want it to be as sensitive as possible. With wildfire season almost upon us out in the west, having the Shark on at all times, should be pretty amazing and a welcome escape while we are inside. This is the first air purification system that I have seen with a display like this. It is large, colorful, and super sharp. I also love the fact that it changes colors depending on the air quality, making it really easy to read from a distance. It also has a really cool looking swirling air animation when it senses movement. This happens every time you walk by the front of the unit, as it senses any changes in air quality and adjusts itself accordingly to keep the air at 100. This is a feature you can set to on or off in the settings menu, along with scheduled run times, easily. While the screen isn't a touchscreen, which would make this unit even more expensive, it is very easy to adjust with the top touch sensitive buttons. Once you set up the BreathClear, you can basically set it and forget it. The box was packed well and there was minimal tape to remove from the filter covers, which was easy to peel off. The filter was sealed in plastic, so be sure to remove that before use. Speaking of the filter, the fact that Shark rates this filter to last up to six years is phenomenal and makes the initial purchase price an easy decision. Lastly, I will mention that this is a larger sized air purifier, yet it is still pretty light and easy to relocate in your home or office if needed. I do believe that the extra size is why this air purifier works so well and is so efficient. Ever since my initial setup, the Shark BreathClear Max has kept the air in my studio at 100 at all times, and only dips a little bit if I bring food into the room. After running this 24/7 since I’ve had it, I feel like the air in my office studio is more crisp and refreshing than with the previous model I was using. In conclusion, If you have allergies, or pets, or you simply want to breathe the cleanest air possible, the Shark BreathClear is the way to go. I've owned several air purifiers, from several brands over the years, and the Shark has outperformed them all. ***PROS*** It's a Shark! No filter changes for up to six years?! Amazing at cleaning the air Really cool display Scheduled run times Runs on auto once setup ***CONS*** None

The first thing I noticed and appreciated was the fact there was literally no need to set up an app, pair it to WiFi, create an account, and do firmware updates!!!! Whoa! Like are we in 2026 or not? Did I just set up an electronic device without the internet? Did I not have to give up my information or data to use a product? Holy Moly! How refreshing! Jokes aside, it honestly caught me off guard. I was fully prepared to download an app, set it up, and all that, but instead I had it up and running in 5 minutes. Turn on and go! Would an app make things better? Sure, being able to see my air quality when I’m not at home is a nice feature, but that’s kind of a thing I don’t need. I can just look at it. There’s 7 or 8 buttons on top and they’re all capacitive touch, and it’s all pretty responsive. It doesn’t feel cheap at all! The middle button kind of acts like a home button and an “auto” button! I couldn’t figure out how get it back to auto mode after setting it to “high”. Pushing the middle button got it back to the “Breathe Clear” mode. When it gets under 50% or somewhere around there, it gets loud. At the time of this review it’s pretty quiet at 68%. For most of the week, it’s been at 90% or so, so not sure what’s going on with the air quality but maybe I should open some windows haha. But that’s good to know, had I not had this device, I may not have been concerned and left my windows closed and kept breathing crap air. Long story short, I’m very happy with this device, it’s comforting and I think it’s better in our lives than not in it. Highly recommended!

I ordered the new Shark BreatheClear Max air purifier to replace an older Winix model that I’m struggling to find replacement filters for. I’ve been mostly happy with the Winix model, but I was betting the Shark model will go way beyond in terms of performance. There are a ton of features on the new BreatheClear Max model. Here’s my commentary on a few of them that stand out to me: 1. I really look forward to not replacing filters as often. Shark estimates that the HEPA filter in this unit could last up to 6 years. Shoot, I’d be thrilled with even a fraction of that time. My Winix model requires changes every 6 to 8 months. Shark mentions suggested maintenance routines for this model, including vacuuming the filter and the pre-filter every 2 months. But that’s it—no replacements until the filter life is 0. The screen has a place where you can view the life left in your filter to keep an eye on things. 2. Speaking of the screen, I think it’s a nice touch but maybe overboard. It has variable brightness, and you can program it to turn off completely…but I’ve yet to see it turn off completely by itself, even at nighttime. In my opinion, it should automatically turn off during nighttime and when there’s no activity around it, similar to a newer smart thermostat. I may be missing a setting here or something, but I’m really surprised it’s not a factory default. 3. The fan noise is very variable. I’m sitting next to the air purifier right now and it’s very quiet, just operating at a low hum. But when it feels the need to speed up the fan becomes loud enough to force me to turn up the volume on my TV. No other air purifiers that I’ve own have worked at that level of volume. So be aware if you plan on placing the filter in a heavily used area. 4. On that note, I have to tell you about a setting I didn’t like: The motion sensor/booster. Whenever it would detect motion, it automatically boosts the power/output. In theory, it sounds great. But in practice, placing the unit in a heavily trafficked area like a family room or kitchen forced the fan to ramp up constantly…and as I mentioned, the ramped-up fan speed produces a lot of noise. So every time a person, a dog, a cat, or even a dog toy moves by the unit…”whooooosh”. Thankfully, it is defeatable in the settings. 5. My last thought: Consider the size and shape of the device before purchase. It’s a good-sized unit, which is common for high-square footage areas, but not being a square or rectangle shape means it may stand out more appearance-wise than other units. The shape isn’t objectionable to me personally, but so far, three out of three guests to my home have pointed it out and asked about it. If you believe that air purifiers are best left hidden, consider this. I’ve attached a picture for size and shape references in a real home. With all that said, I do want to point out that I think the filter is doing a good job. The sensor seems accurate when comparing it to the sensor in my Winix filter. And over the last five days my air quality percentage has gone up gradually from 72% to 93%. With two big, active dogs and many people coming and going, I don’t expect it will ever be much higher than that. So, a 20% increase is very acceptable for me. It does its job. If you can get over the noise and size/shape issues, this is a great option for large rooms. And not having to replace the filter saves so much time and money that the $450 price seems very reasonable over the long term.

The Shark Breathe Clear Max Never Change Air Purifier provides a vivid color display, with air quality percentages, and easy-to-use buttons. While the Breathe Clear Max offers up to 1,650 sq ft of air purification, it does not stand out in the market of air purification based on the lack thereof capabilities. Pros: * Easy to use and set up * Large-room capability * Clear and Concise insights Cons: * Loud fan * Lack of Technology Out of the box, the Shark Breathe Clear Max was easy to unpack, unwind, and ultimately remove all of the tape/bags to begin use. Without directions, there are stickers all over the product that mention removing the filter bag, placing the filter back inside the unit (before use), and then you may turn the unit on (the LCD display says to do this too). Once you turn the unit on, you are guided through the setup process (which takes approximately five minutes, due to the unit "calibration" for the room it is in). I found that the Breathe Clear Max was simple to use with the touch buttons on the unit to set fan speed settings, adjust display brightness, and provide additional settings (such as sleep timers, etc.) Once the unit was turned on, I could see the difference in air quality (via the vivid LCD screen), which I could appreciate (seeing the air quality percentage with vivid background colors to alert you of the quality of air in the room was refreshing). I also found that the Breathe Clear Max’s air quality detection was as accurate as my thermostat (both give the correct range of air quality, as well as "pollutants" ranges inside the home). I also found (due to the size), and because the unit was in my living room (where we have our dogs mainly), the air felt more breathable, and the typical “dog-smell” you get in a home with dogs was gone, thanks to the odor-neutralizing technology. Since my living room is roughly 600 sq ft, I found that the unit was more than capable of handling odors and pollutants in the home (it is rated for rooms up to 1,650 sq ft). More so, the never-replace filter is ideal because you do not (potentially) need to replace the filter, just clean it (using water, or a vacuum to remove dust/debris). Although I have not had to do this yet, the removal of the filter was easy to do, and it should not be an issue in the future. Additionally, the clear, concise insights (once you cycle through the menu on the device, or by pressing the Air IQ button) provide the exact pollutant type in the air and the “level” they are at. There is some technology built into the Breathe Clear Max, which I found (somewhat) beneficial. First, by pressing the Breathe Clear button, you can automatically set the unit to adjust its own fan speeds by scanning (automatically) the environment in the room (that way, you do not need to keep adjusting the fan speeds as you go). I found this useful when I was in the kitchen cooking, and I could literally hear the fan kick on (higher speed) while cooking to “purify” the air quality (this was a breath of fresh air). Lastly, I found the “Sensing Motion” technology to be useful, as the unit proactively scans and finds harmful particles in the air (on the fly) and adjusts the fan speeds accordingly (thus, the mention during my cooking). However, the fan is quite loud (especially if you are turning it up to full power) when you need to quickly remove harmful particles in the air, or when the Breathe Clear (auto) technology steps in to eliminate unwanted air quality. Note that if you are someone who plans on keeping the unit on while you sleep (if you do not set up sleep timers), you may need to adjust the fan speed accordingly. Although the unit does exactly what it’s intended to do, I would have liked to have seen some other features included. For instance, an osculating function. More importantly, the use of Bluetooth technology (for a Mobile App) to change settings from a separate room, etc., would make this unit stand out on the market. The Shark Breathe Clear Max Never Change Air Purifier provides a vivid color-inclusive LCD display that shows air quality percentages. It’s easy to set up, and it contains simple button commands for ease-of-use settings. While the Breathe Clear Max offers up to 1,650 sq ft of air purification, it does not stand out in the market of air purification due to the lack of technology. For future considerations, I would like to see Bluetooth capability (remote from my phone) to change settings from other rooms in my home. Overall, the Breathe Clear Max provides excellent air purification in the home, especially in larger spaces.

The Shark BreatheClear Max with NeverChange Air Purifier couldn't have arrived at my home at a more opportune time. We are in the middle of spring and grass and pollen is everywhere. My kids and animals are all suffering from seasonal allergies which include runny noses and watery eyes daily. Our primary care physician recommended that we invest in an air purifier to alleviate some of those seasonal allergies. We performed some research, and Shark was high on our list of devices to test. Unboxing BreatheClear Max Unboxing the device was straightforward and simple to setup. Once I removed the air purifier from the box and removed the packaging, it literally took five minutes to install. I had to be sure to remove the bottom door that houses filter. Once I removed the plastic from around the HEPA filter and re-installed the door, the system begin to calibrate. The size of the purifier is impressive, while not overly heavy coming in around 14lbs. The Shark BreatheClear Max is rated to clean 1650 square feet in just one hour. Technology Shark recommends allowing 48-hour sensor calibration at initial setup. We allowed the purifier to run continuously to gauge our air quality. We have carpet in our home, so we try to keep the floors vacuumed weekly to avoid dust and pet dander build-up. The BreatheClear Max has been helpful so far with the family having less sneezing and asthma attacks. The LCD display is really neat. It has the ability to show air quality patterns with Air Insights. It tracks the daily and weekly history of air quality. It also tracks the humidity and temperature of the area as well. The purifier also gives real time data of the pollutants it senses. This is a really neat feature. The color coding gives visual insights on the status of the air quality as well. This is helpful when I'm not close to the device. Overall thoughts There’s only one thing holding the BreatheClear Max back. The lack of an mobile app to control and monitor while not in front of the purifier. Omitting this option plays a huge factor in my recommendation of the device. I still love everything about this purifier, I just would have loved it more with app functionality. I still recommend the BreatheClear but as long as you temper your expectations to control the device remotely.

_____ *Pros: -Excellent for households with many pets to allergy symptoms. -Good odor control. -Coverage up to 1650 sq. ft. -HEPA filter can last up to 6 years. -Removable and easily cleanable pre-filters with easy and fast access. -Automatic air quality detection and fan adjustment work well. -Motion detection is accurate and ramps up fan speed quickly. -Quiet operation. _____ *Neutral: -High initial purchase price. -At its highest fan setting, it gets quite noisy (~60 dBA). _____ *Cons: -None The Shark BreatheClear Max (HP362) is an excellent air purifier. It has replaced my previous big air purifier – the Shark HP302 NeverChange air purifier – inside the living room, and it’s been a meaningful upgrade. Besides the slightly larger coverage area – 1400 sq. ft versus 1650 sq. ft. – the HP362 does a few things better, such as the addition of a motion detection feature that temporarily ramps up the fan speed, faster reaction speed to changes in environmental levels of dust and other allergens, and a clearer and more informative LCD display that details the cleanliness level of the room in a quick-glance fashion. Design-wise, the HP362 looks very similar to the HP302, keeping its overall spaceship-like shape, removable pre-filters on the sides, and the same method of turning the unit upside down to remove the panel and access the big HEPA filter in the center. The HP362 is a bit taller but also a bit slimmer, taking up a similar amount of floor space. We have five indoor animals (one Goldador, one Maltese, two short-hair cats, and one medium-hair length cat), and the BreatheClear Max has been super helpful in alleviating allergy symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, runny nose, and itchy throat. The most sensitive person in our household to allergies is our 11-year-old daughter, and she noticed and experienced the improved air quality most acutely – she has almost entirely stopped sneezing and coughing, and she doesn’t complain about an itchy throat anymore. Shark says the filter can last up to six years, and in order to make that claim true, one has to do some due diligence by periodically pulling out the side pre-filters and cleaning them, either by vacuuming up all the accumulated hair and dust bunnies and/or wiping them clean with a moist towel and letting the filters dry before putting them back in. Fortunately, this task is super easy and simple to do. To access the pre-filters, all you have to do is pull the side panels away from the body – they’re magnetically attached and are easily pulled off and easily snapped back on. Besides being great at capturing fine general dust particles and pet dander and hair, the HP362 is also great at detecting and filtering out pet odor and cooking smell from the kitchen. Our Goldador and Maltese are the stinkers of the house, and the HP362 did a good job controlling the odor. Operating the HP362 has also been a pleasant experience. The capacitive touch buttons are responsive and snappy, and there are many useful options available such as setting up Sleep Mode, adjusting LCD display brightness, checking filter life status (pre-filter and HEPA), and viewing an Air Insights report that shows per-day and per-average week air quality level, humidity level, and temperature of the living space where the air purifier was placed. Again, the Shark BreatheClear HP362 is an excellent air purifier. The initial buy-in price may feel and appear to be “too high” for some people, but considering that the filter can last for so long (up to six years), and the unit is so easy to maintain and operate, it’s a great long-term investment and a good value, especially when compared to air purifiers that have a lower buy-in price but have higher air filter replacement schedules, not unlike the inkjet printers that seemingly appear to be a good value but actually are not due to the high cost and frequent replacement of the inkjet cartridges. The HP362 to me is a sleek-looking and performant air purifier that has made my family’s daily life more pleasant and healthier, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it for everyone, especially homes with many fur babies. It’s a 5 Star Win!

I saw this product at a friends house which got me looking into it. We use to have those old ionizing system that you had to clean weekly. They were to much of a pain. Once I got it running and I saw how easy it was to access the side filters and the Hepa only got changed every few years really was a positive point. It seems to have cleared up the air in my house and my allergies have improved. We are considering buying another purifier for upstairs in out main bedroom . Probable the smaller version of this but still same concept. Extremely happy with it
