An almost perfect combo robot vacuum and mop bot. Honestly at this point, most do a pretty good job of cleaning but there’s certain features and capabilities that really set this one apart and I’m not even talking about the UV light feature (which is pretty neat). The main issue I’ve had with every robot vacuum until now is that my main living area has a 1” transition that they all struggle climbing over. This transition leads to the kitchen and dining room which are critical areas to be cleaned and not being able to access those rooms means only half the job gets done. This is the very first cleaning bot I’ve had that does not struggle with that transition and that alone pushes it near the top of the list for me. Can’t clean what it can’t reach, so big props to Shark for that! The second best feature (maybe the best for most people) is that the lidar and obstacle avoidance works great and this allows me to be super lazy about cleaning. Let me be clear, I barely prep the room at all. I have little cat toys everywhere, charging cables, and random assorted things scattered throughout the house. I will lift the charging cables out of the way, but so far, I simply send it on a cleaning mission without picking up anything else and hope that it avoids the obstacles in the way. And it does! This has also been my experience of lidar vs camera based obstacle avoidance systems and I’m 100% team lidar. Works much better for robo vacuums and cars. This bot isn’t perfect, but it’s close to it and most of my complaints are trivial. It’s a bit loud and can sound clunky. Yeah, it’s a vacuum, but I’ve had quieter vacuum bots that cleaned just as well. The app also only allows for a combination vacuum and mopping run to the whole house, but not to a specific room or for a spot clean. For the latter options it’s vacuum or mop only, which is a bit odd and hopefully gets fixed in a software update. That’s about it for negatives though. Long story short, if you’re looking for a robot vacuum and mop combo that’s super easy to use, can climb high floor transitions, and has great obstacle avoidance, you’ll love this Shark UV Reveal 2-in-1 Vac & Mop bot. CLEANING The highlight feature of this model is the UV lamp that helps spot stains on hard floors for more thorough cleaning. It also works like a headlight for the bot, which means I can leave the lights off and it’ll still be able to see around the house (lidar helps too). I honestly don’t know if the UV light is helping it detect stains better, but my floors look clean and it’s gotten the food stains off the kitchen floor which is great. I used to have a dog for that job, but it’s probably better for the bot to do it. Vacuuming is commendable and on par with leading vacuum bots. Again, I want to emphasize how much I appreciate how this vacuum allows me to be lazy. I’m busy, if it’ll save time in my day somewhere, I’m a fan (we are talking about robot vacuums afterall). The obstacle avoidance detection is fantastic and means I don’t need to pick up everything and stage the room to make it “perfect” before sending the vacuum bot to do its job. Nope. Just send it! And for that, I’m grateful. MAINTENANCE It’s only been about a week, so not much to say on this front. The bot empties itself when it goes back to the home base and it’s estimated to last about 60 days between cleaning out the base dirt tank. The mop pad comes attached and supposedly doesn’t need to be replaced, or at least not regularly, so it’ll be interesting to see how that holds up. The base does clean and dry the mop pad after mopping runs so it’ll at least stay clean. APP Takes a while to do the initial setup, but works smoothly after the cleaning bot is added. Pretty clean user interface and easy to use and schedule cleaning and exploration runs. Maps are simple to edit, merge/delete rooms, and create no-go zones. The only issue I have is not being able to do both vacuuming and mopping on a room or spot cleaning run. This feature only works when doing a whole house run for some reason, but hopefully gets fixed with an update. PROS - Vacuums and mops - Excellent cleaning - Can climb 1” transition without issue - Cleaning runs are quick - UV light spots stains on hard floors - Obstacle avoidance works great - Excellent for being super lazy - Easy to use app - Can live track on map where the robot is during cleaning run - Easy to edit map, label rooms, and create boundaries - Cliff/stairs sensor works great - Spot and room cleaning run is easy to setup - Automatically empties into home base after runs CONS - Noisy - Can sound a bit clunky - Cannot do vacuuming and mopping combo in a spot or room run

This is one of the best robot vacuums I have ever used. It includes ever feature you could possibly want in an easy to use package! I have another shark robot vacuum and it does a really good job of vacuuming/dusting. I also have a irobot vacuum that can do both mopping and vacuuming but requires you to change out dust bins for mopping or vacuuming. The irobot also doesn't know how to skip over rugs if the mop part is attached so it's all or nothing. This shark vacuum is advanced that it knows where a rug is at and not to try and mop it. Setup was honestly a breeze. I plugged in the charger base and placed the vacuum on the charging pad. Once charged it required that I create a map of my home. I was not able to use the prior map my other shark vacuum made, so a new one was required. I thought it would take an hour or more to do the map, but it took like 15 minutes. I think this is in part due to the camera and other sensors on the front of the machine. Once the map was created I was able to create different rooms on the map and also send the machine out again to find places that had carpet or rugs. With the map created I let the machine do a vacuuming. It picked up a good number of debris and only took about an hour to fully vacuum. While working the machine is pretty quiet and not an issue to have running while watching TV, talking, or working. This machine also doesn't run around like a toddler running into everything and anything. The sensors on the front are used to stop/slow down the machine before it makes contact with an item. This helped tremendously on noise the machine makes. My prior shark would sometimes startle me with how much it would smack into furniture, but this one is so good at not doing that. After the machine finishes vacuuming it will then go out and do mopping. While mopping it will uses its sensors to find dirt and debris and scrub them clean. I thought it was just a gimmick, but I watched it go over stains a few times to make sure they are fully clean. Once the machine is done mopping it will show in the app on the map the spots it detected. It's usually the same spots, front door area, dog water/food area, etc. The charging base has everything built in for clean and dirty water, and a debris bin. I have checked it a few times and I believe I could probably let this machine do its job three times a week for a month before having to intervene with emptying dirty water or debris bin. On the debris bin there is an air freshener that helps cover up any smells the machine might have. While I do like this option I'm not sure I will replace the air freshener once it dies out. The vacuum is out of sight out of mind and I'm not super worried about any smells you smell if your super close to it, plus it doesn't even smell. My old shark did get stuck in a few places or required attention, whereas this one doesn't get stuck and actually avoids obstacles to the point I forgot it even is working. Overall, I love this vacuum and my house smells and feels cleaner. My wood floors are always nice and clean without any stains or smudges. I feel like I will only need to bust out a mop when they are super dirty which is hardly ever!

We have been using the previous model of the Shark PowerDetect robot vacuum in the downstairs of our house for the past year and, in comparison to other high-end robot vacuums I have used in years past, this brand and model is our favorite. That’s why we decided to invest in one upstairs as well, not only because I believe their technology and features are better than others in the market but, also because of the price point in comparison to other makers. And one of the best things about Shark technology is they continue to strive to improve their technology and, in many ways, are now setting the bar in the high-performance vacuum industry. This holds true with their updated PowerDetect robot vacuum and mop with self-emptying and refilling base station, but they have also made leaps and bounds in detecting problem areas by utilizing UV stain detection technology combined with hypersonic mopping that claims to deliver 7x more scrubbing power. Since we already had last year’s Shark robot vacuum/mop with base station, we were already aware of the size of the area in our upstairs we would need to have dedicated for the new PowerDetect base station; some may consider it bulky but not tall so it’s easy to hide behind other furniture which is what we did. Therefore, I would suggest ensuring you have the space determined prior to deciding on the robot. Out of the box, the set up was simple and explained well using the included, easy to understand, instructions. Once it was assembled and powered on, the rest of the set up was explained and automated through the Shark smartphone application. It will prompt you to map the area you have it stationed in as well as informing it what areas may have carpet or area rugs so it knows when/where to initiate the water and mopping feature. Once that is complete, the PowerDetect robot is ready to start working for you to keep a cleaner floor. While it’s cleaning, the robot uses its top-notch technology to detect different surfaces and will lift or lower the back end of the robot or disengage the mop pad. If it detects more debris after doing an initial run, it will go back over that area to ensure it is cleaned properly. Once the cleaning is completed, the robot returns to the self-emptying base station, empty the dust bin and clean/dry the mopping pad with its new Thermacharged technology in the base station that cleans the mop pad with hot air and heats the clean water solution when the robot is scheduled to clean again. The smartphone application will advise you when the clean water needs to be refilled and the dirty water or vacuum debris container needs to be emptied in the base station. There is even a feature on the base station for a air freshener so the debris sitting in the base station does not start to smell. Obviously being impressed by the previous Shark PowerDetect model influenced the decision to invest in the newer model. We have recommended this brand and model to friends and family who were in the market as, in my opinion, it does a better overall job cleaning our floors than other robot vacuum manufacturers we have had experience in the past and at a cheaper price. It definitely helps make up for time lost on other priorities in our everyday lives with children and animals to tend to.

I have had many Shark robot vacuums over the years now and can say that for the most part they do indeed keep getting better. So far for the past week I would say that this Power Detect UV Reveal really is the best one yet. Setup via the app was easy, once it had spent some time charging it explored the room and created and extremely accurate map that I was able to edit and name to create rooms. It then did an initial run to vacuum while also determining what areas of the floor have carpet or rugs to avoid while mopping. I set a schedule, filled it with water and the included cleaner and haven’t had to touch it since. It catches corners and cleans area rugs and a section of carpet in the room it is in that the previous iterations could not accomplish. It is quick and thorough in each cleaning cycle, and while it does struggle a bit with the bathroom mat it cleans my commercial grade entry mats better than any other robot I have tried. Thankfully, it also does not get itself stuck on the top stair the way its predecessor frequently did. Mopping is also impressive, it cleans the room with a mix of tile and laminate in about 30 minutes and it looks and feels great. It will refill itself automatically and self clean the mop pad without any input. I have last year’s never touch model on another floor and have been disappointed in the mopping as it has been known to leak or self clean when not necessary, but so far I believe the UV Reveal is much more capable. I set it up in a corner of the room and it can navigate out of the dock and back with no issues. I have a dog as well so I run a daily vacuum schedule to keep the hair from piling up and my floor remains clean and tidy with the UV Reveal on the job. I am very impressed with this model and have high hopes for how it performs in the long run. I definitely recommend it if you have hard floors and want to be able to let the robot handle the cleaning for you.

Having one of these robotic vacuums is such a time saver! Being able to set a cleaning schedule in the app is very convenient but there’s a few things you need to do to ensure a good cleaning. First thing is that you need to treat your house as if you just brought home a puppy. Don’t leave shoes or clothes laying out on the floor, small toys need to be picked up on cleaning days too. Close the doors to any room you need to keep your robot out of, like my teen’s room who will forget to pick up the floor on cleaning days. I let him vacuum his own room or he can use the app to run a single room vac mission right after he picks up the floor. The body of the robot is about 13 1/2” in diameter so if your kitchen or dining room chair legs are not wider than that then you either need to put the chairs upside down on the table or remove the chairs to a different room otherwise the robot probably won’t be able to access the floor under the table. Just things to consider. Having a robot doesn’t necessarily replace regular floor care but it sure keeps the house cleaner day to day for us, our Shark upright hardly gets out of the closet any more. We already have a Shark Matrix robot vacuum so I can speak to how the Shark app works with two vacuums added. Each vacuum will create its own map and run on its own schedules. So say you have all carpet upstairs and a mix of hard floors and carpet downstairs, you can put a vacuum upstairs and a vac/mop combo machine downstairs and then configure the schedules so the upstairs gets vacuumed whatever days you’d like and the downstairs can get vacuumed on certain days and vacuumed and mopped on a different day or days. So we have the vacuum set to run M/W/F and the vac/mop machine set to vacuum Mon and Wed and then vacuum and mop on Fridays. The app doesn’t allow you to put mop or vac+mop on the same schedule with vac only missions but you can create multiple schedules for the same machine so if you want to vac three days a week, mop all the hard floors once a week, and mop the kitchen and/or foyer only an extra day a week it takes three schedules. Vac+mop missions are whole house only, if you want to mop less than the whole house then it needs to be a mop mission only and you’d want to run that right after a vac mission so you’re not trying to mop loose dirt. It will tell you in the app how long each mission will take to complete so you can schedule accordingly. We have a family room that is one step down from our kitchen. Our older Matrix vacuum will sometimes fail to detect this edge properly and drop a drive wheel off and become stuck. I added a no- go zone just away from the edge and kept adjusting it until it was in the right spot. This new PowerDetect machine appears to do a better job at following the step edge and hasn’t needed a rescue or a no-go zone there at all. We have new tile floors but the old carpet was cut back and hasn’t been replaced yet so there’s a substantial gap down to the subfloor where the floor coverings meet in some spots. The NeverStuck Technology worked so the machine never needed assistance there either. If you have two floors but only one vacuum you can’t create and save two maps, you would need to let it explore and create a new map each time you move the machine between floors. This takes a while to do so it’s not really practical. Much better to have a second machine in that case. It looks to me like the docking station air filters between the Matrix and the PowerDetect are the same so I only need one size to service both machines. They get washed and allowed to dry about once a month so I keep extras to put in while the others dry then swap them back in the next month. Dust bin is good sized, it looks to be larger than the one on our Matrix and I only emptied that once a month, our 1500 sq ft house is about half tile so if you have more carpet or pets you may need to empty it more often. I checked the cleaning water bin and it was down about 2” after running the whole house mopping mission twice. With the size of the reservoir I’d think I would easily get four or maybe five missions between fill ups. It does take 12oz of Shark VacMop Multi Surface Floor Cleaner per water refill so stock up accordingly. It comes with a 12oz bottle, the replacements at the store are 2L or about 6 tank refills worth if you don’t do metric. Lol. Note that the machine requires a 2.4GHz wifi network to connect. Our main wifi is 5GHz but I had configured our guest wifi at 2.4GHz when we setup the first Shark vacuum so I made sure to connect to that. After the initial setup the machine will run an explore mission to map the rooms and then a second mission to detect the hard floors, rugs, and carpet. After the map is created you go in and edit and name the rooms. The app will attempt to separate the rooms for you but you can merge or split areas as you need. You can add no-go areas if any are needed, like if there’s a pile of electrical cords at the back of your desk you can make that area a no-go zone so the machine won’t get tangled up. Then you add your desired schedules and you are ready to go. The mop pad is left on the docking station during vac missions, the machine will come back for it when it needs to mop. The docking station has heat and fan assisted drying for the mop pad, the app recommends at least 8 hours between mop missions to allow the pad to dry. The first time I ran a mop mission it mopped the floor and headed back to the dock. It announced that it was cleaning its mop pad and I thought it was done. It then loudly announced “I HAVE DETECTED STAINS AND I’M HEADING OUT TO AGGRESSIVELY ATTACK THEM!”. Which startled me to be honest. LOL. You can turn the voice off or turn the volume down if you’d prefer. It had marked three areas on the map in the kitchen that needed additional attention, one right in front of the pantry, one in front of the trash bin, and one spot right in front of our countertop convection oven. Pretty much every place we’d be likely to drop or spill something. I had purposely made a stain of dried meat juice over by the larger oven but it got that on the first pass and didn’t go back. It went and scrubbed the three spots until it was happy the went back to the dock. It cleaned our tiles well but I noticed that it’s not quite as able to clean a spot that is in a grout line. But I definitely like the job it did on the tile! I felt the floor right after it passed and it was just moist and dried quickly, it was not sopping wet and it doesn’t spray water anywhere so I don’t worry about damaging my wood furniture or cabinets. I believe it would be no problem on hardwood or LVT floors as dry as it was. I checked the toe kicks and baseboards around the rooms as it passed and they were completely dry. Our tile has a very busy pattern to it which includes some small white splotches on some of the tiles. The vacuum did not detect those as stains so I was glad to see that. I’m not sure how it tells the difference but it’s impressive. We have a carpeted runner in our tile hallway, vacuuming is no problem but it’s understandably not able to mop the 6-8” of tile on either side of the runner. It will mop the whole hallway for me if I roll up the runner ahead of its mission. It detects carpet and rugs as it goes along and is able to raise its mop pad about a half inch above to prevent dragging the damp pad over the carpets. That works pretty good, I did see it drop the mop pad too early as it was driving off a thin throw rug in the master bath but it always waited until it was clear of the carpets and the thicker rugs in the rest of the house. I think you would enjoy having this machine in your home, it does a really good job. Is it perfect? No, but overall it’s a huge time saver and it keeps our house cleaner day to day which is awesome!

This is far and away the most sensor-packed robotic vacuum I’ve ever owned. It’s also my first with a mop function… In addition to lidar, it’s packed with proximity sensors, bumpers, a front facing camera with both a headlight and UV light (it’s core special feature) and still finds room to pack in an extendable mop pad and side edge air blower to dislodge debris that might be hiding in corners. The amount of innovation showing up here is astounding, and I still like it despite a collection of pitfalls and shortcomings. __ Initial Impressions and Typical Use __ In typical Shark style, every part of the package came with easy to remove informational stickers on parts of the machine to help ensure you don’t miss some of the key indicators and important components. Unlike my prior Shark Vacuum, it also has a classy black look with some variance in finish in the upper art of the self-emptying base. Water reservoirs are well designed and very easy to remove and refill/dump when that becomes needed. Cleverly, the robot is also able to ditch its whole pad assembly in the dock when doing vacuum-only runs. It just kept surprising me with clever abilities and considerations as I got used to its quirks. Overall, I’ve been very happy with its performance, doing exactly what it says it will do, but not without also noticing some things I didn’t love. For one, the app is capable, but has limitations. Your robot is limited to two scheduled runs of any kind per day. Not sure why it can’t handle more. Mopping + vacuuming in one run is limited to your whole home, you cannot select that mode for a single bedroom or wing of the house - it’s all or nothing. Runs can take a long time to finish, even if it’s a single room. The map it generates is helped by lidar, but since most of the sensing is outward and not upward, it seems to struggle with mapping rooms in a way that looks like the room. For instance, the map often includes noisy geometry, like the gap between bins under a bed even though it will never be able to access it. A bedroom’s outlines are defined by where it can see, which may not be the whole room… this can lead to some strange rooms. I ended up with a ‘room’ that was actually an outside space that it could see through the glass with its lidar. Once it was in the map, I was not able to delete it, so I simply named this inaccessible space ‘outside’ and live with it being part of the overall home that the robot thinks it should be able to clean. It’s weird, but not a deal breaker. I just wish I had more control over the map, just as I felt last year when we got our first Shark robot-vac. Additionally, it developed squeaky wheels in its first week. I’ve inspected it and can’t spot any physical issues, but it’s a little more annoying to listen to when it’s running now. It also seems to take a long time to run a cycle, and proclaims with a female voice whenever it’s about to go back to the dock. It also hates our fairly standard rug. It’s common for me to come back after a run and find the rug bunched up a bit. It’s just a low pile rug, but it also struggles roll over it - hobbling, skipping and hoping while going against the grain. No other robot vacuum has an issue with it. __ Still Like It __ Despite this laundry list of quirks I don’t love, I still appreciate this machine and like the cleaning results. My floors are getting clean on the schedule I set, collecting cat litter and fur very well. I also have it mop a primary bathroom twice a week. Every time it comes out great, with noticeably clean and dry tile. Its core feature, the UV light seems to affect its cleaning, focusing more time on areas it thinks it’s found something. I’d love the app to highlight these areas for me, but I do get to see the light shining from time to time as it searches for grime. I like that it’s attractive charging station automatically handles all of the things that would have been daily maintenance - from emptying the vacuum, the dirty water, or washing/drying the mop head to avoid something from growing. So far, it’s worked perfectly for these core conveniences. My grievances are small in comparison to what this can do. I really like it, and unless I encounter some issue sometime, I find it easy to recommend.

The Shark - PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 is a very capable robot vacuum & mop system. To start off, I think it bears mentioning that I view these types of appliances as a maintenance product and in no way a 100% replacement for proper cleaning. Depending on traffic and cleanliness of one's environment, I still believe a good periodic deep-cleaning is essential to a clean home – done by hand. What any of these robots provide (some obviously better than others...) is an excellent, automated way to maintain an above-average level of cleanliness in a home but with compromise. No matter how often the system contends to "refresh" its own cleaning pads or re-run focused cleaning in detected areas, they do inherently push around a small amount of dirt, grime and what-have-you - trapped in the pads or brushes. That said, a system like the Shark - PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 will maintain a relatively clean floor which is MUCH better than a floor allowed to build up a higher degree of contamination, due to procrastination and/or neglect. Unboxing & Setup: The PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 is well packaged and comes with boldly printed quick setup instructions at the top of its box. The instructions are clear, concise and easy to follow. Other than peeling some protective film, attaching one of the corner brushes and inserting the dock ramp plate - there really isn't any major assembly required. Should be manageable for everyone. It pays to already have the SharkClean app installed on your mobile device, by the way. Access to the two reservoirs, one for clean water & cleaning solution... and one for dirty or "gray" water, is right at the top and below an easy to flip-up door. Those two bins have nicely engineered handles. There's also a freshener (odor neutralizer) puck that needs to be twisted into place on the top of the dock, that has a dial for intensity. All clearly marked and simple to engage. The App guidance is about as good as it gets, especially in conjunction with the included printed, setup instructions - again - inside the top of the box. Pairing with my mobile device went smoothly, for the most part, but did seem to take an inordinate amount of time - seemingly during what appeared to have been a firmware update - with no indication of what it actually was doing. I'd say that other brands are better at being verbose about what is going on, but I won't ding Shark any rating for the additional wait time. It wasn't frustratingly long... In Operation: Running the UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop is pretty straight forward. With the initial setup, you have to let the robot map your room(s) or whole house - depending on the extent you intend to use it. For us, maintaining a moderately large, kitchen and dining area floor, with one rug but otherwise tiled throughout, was the logical choice. We want a system that has its cleaning solution and workload focused on/in an area that is prone to getting dirty fast due to the kitchen being a major "hub" in the house. Pets add to it too! Protip: Make sure to check the dimensions of the unit vs. where you plan on having it placed in your home; this thing takes up a good chunk of floor space and it's tall as well. The system is moderately loud and has good onboard, voice announcements. Following the initial mapping run, the UV Reveal 2-In-1 will proceed to vacuum the entire zone and then return to the base to prep the pads - and then begin mopping. We enabled the UV Detect function and it seems to add some unexpected twists & turns to the cleaning routine. From the limited time we've been running this robot, what we've noticed is that it keeps track of problem areas and intentionally revisits those areas on subsequent runs, to check for the return of messes. This is clever but adds significant time to the run cycle. What was most important to us was that the area became mapped correctly during both dry & wet runs, that the mapped area was completely covered or tracked out during cleaning excursions and that it didn't leave any puddles. On balance, the system met those basic expectations. Here's a small criticism: The way the SharkClean app displays/depicts the location of detected "hot spots" and its current location within the map (or room) - is both lagged by a good 20 to 30 seconds (so not real time by any stretch of the imagination...) and the depictions are oddly proportionally off, but just enough, to look semi-OK onscreen. It's sort of a nit but I figured it's worth mentioning - for completeness. Personally, I like the SharkClean app better than most the competitors I've tried or used - because it does provide all the Key functions one would expect, including stuff like a Do Not Disturb function and a logical Spot Cleaning option, that are easy to see and not buried or in odd places. But the reports this system generates and pushes out seem to be saved in a one-deep format and I think it would be better to have 5 or 10 "runs" worth of reports to be able to go back to, and review. I also think the logic behind some of the functions, deeper in the App, could be explained better - but I don't want to chase down that rabbit hole in this review. Suffice it to say, SharkClean needs some tendering loving care and tightening up - like most apps do! There are three levels of vacuum strength; Eco - Normal - Max and the same goes for the mopping. Max mopping leaves the floors noticeably wetter and adds to the dry time. It should also be noted that mopping has three levels of cleaning strength as well as three levels of suction - labeled the same. In Summary: The Shark - PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop robot does an admirable job of cleaning, to the areas nearest the baseboards, pretty darn good into the corners and is smart enough to return to problem areas and put in a little extra elbow grease (robotically speaking ofc...) – where needed. At times it sort of appears to be lost but actually it’s just taking short cuts – is my best guess. My hope is this system really learns it’s assigned “zone” and moves within it more precisely, as the weeks & months progress. Pros: Easy to setup and pair to the SharkClean app Good depth of settings to customize both the operation & saved cleaning routines Not too terribly loud in operation apart from the voice announcements - which could benefit from a volume slide control - inside the App. Max suction is quieter than competing models with similar price points. Bagless design -- which is a plus! The fluid reservoirs are ample in size, for our intended use. Expect to be refilling/emptying these frequently if you're trying to conquer your entire home with one device and your square footage is on the larger side The Shark branded cleaning solution is competitively priced per fluid ounce. Overall, I’d say that the build quality is reflective of the price point and generally up to Shark/Ninja standards. Shark/Ninja is a brand we trust. Cons: The mapping function seems a touch imprecise. Perhaps that will naturally get dialed-in over time. Can't' say for sure considering the short time of ownership. Because of this level of inaccuracy, the edges of the rug in our kitchen did get a little bit wet. Not sopping wet but just enough to notice that the mopping zone was off a bit, after multiple "calibration" runs performed by the unit. We’re going to keep an eye on that!

I have owned over 9 robot vacuums in the last 8 years, and I currently own 4. I can say with confidence that the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-in-1 is not the best I've owned, but it is above average when you look at its core functions. When I get a new robot vacuum, these are the key areas I consider: Noise Navigation & Obstacle Avoidance Vacuum Effectiveness Mopping Effectiveness App Features & Ease of Use Maintenance Bonus Features Each item above is ranked from most important to least important. I would highly recommend reviewing these 7 characteristics whether you are looking to purchase your first robot or your 5th. Here's a breakdown of where I believe the Shark PowerDetect stands: 1) Noise - AVERAGE. The Shark is completely average in this category, both for the vacuum itself and the dock. It's far from the loudest I've owned, but this is something to keep in mind if you schedule tasks at night. It won't wake your house, but you will know it's there. 2) Navigation & Obstacle Avoidance - ABOVE AVERAGE. The obstacle avoidance on the Shark is impressive. It navigates quickly and with tons of confidence. I can send this robot out without picking up every single item in my house and feel confident it will finish with little to no issues. That said, I have noticed it occasionally lose connection or struggle with complex maneuvers, sometimes getting stuck in a loop of moving in random circles. It eventually recovers, but still something I found concerning at times. 3) Vacuum Effectiveness - AVERAGE. The Shark PowerDetect handles carpets and hardwood floors with ease. After running it for around a week with 3 kids in the house, it cleaned anything and everything I would have used a regular stick vacuum for. Keep your expectations in check though. Robot vacuums are still far from the power needed to deep clean a carpet, but they do an incredible job as a supplemental solution between breaking out your corded or cordless vacuum. 4) Mopping Effectiveness - ABOVE AVERAGE. This is genuinely the best mopping performance I've seen from a robot vacuum. On hard floors, it picks up everyday grime, light spills, and stuck on messes with no issue, and the HyperSonic scrubbing makes a real difference on dried spots that other robots just smear around. The floors come out actually clean. My one complaint is that it uses too much water at times, leaving sections wetter than I'd prefer and adding to the dry time. It's a small price to pay for the result, but worth knowing if you have pets or kids running around immediately after a cycle. 5) App Features & Ease of Use - ABOVE AVERAGE. The SharkClean app is easy to navigate and gives you solid control without burying features in submenus. Scheduling, room specific cleaning, no go zones, and adjusting suction or mop intensity are all where you'd expect. It also integrates with both Alexa and Google Home. My only gripe is that the app occasionally lags when pulling up the live map after a cleaning session, and once or twice I had to force close it to reconnect. Nothing dealbreaking, but worth mentioning. 6) Maintenance - ABOVE AVERAGE. This is where the Shark really earns its keep. The NeverTouch Pro base automatically empties the bin, refills the water tank, and washes the mop pad with hot water before drying it with heated air. The self cleaning mop pad is a feature I love and the UV Detects' design works incredibly well. That said, the dock itself is large and takes up a noticeable footprint, so plan your placement accordingly. 7) Bonus Features - ABOVE AVERAGE. I'll be honest. When I first read about UV Stain Detect, I rolled my eyes. It sounded like the kind of marketing gimmick that gets slapped on a spec sheet to justify a higher price tag. I was wrong. It actually works. The robot uses UV light to identify invisible messes like dried spills, pet residue, etc, then automatically triggers an extra mopping pass over those spots. This is the rare "bonus" feature that delivers on what it promises. Remember when I said I had 3 other robot vacuums? The UV detect found stains they had missed and cleaned them... Final Verdict: The Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-in-1 isn't the absolute top of the robot vacuum food chain, but it's a well rounded machine with three genuinely standout features (the carpet and threshold lifting, the best in class mopping, and the UV stain detection) that set it apart from the pack. If you're a first time buyer or upgrading from an older model, you'll likely be very happy with it. If you're coming from a current flagship from a competitor, the improvements may feel more incremental than revolutionary, but the lift technology, mopping performance, and UV detection are worth a hard look regardless.

Verdict: The PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop Shark robot vacuum is a capable addition to the Shark vacuum family. In general, I like Shark products for their value and quality. While I was disappointed by the longevity of a previous Shark robot vacuum, this one seems to be better made, but time will tell. So far, it is performing quite well, and I love the truly no-touch promise: it will vacuum, mop, and self-clean with minimal human interaction for 30-60 days. PRO TIP: During setup, do not leave the “Connect to Wi-Fi” screen until all four check marks are green. If you leave that screen to check something on your phone, it will disconnect from the machine and you will have to restart setup (not easy to do!) Physical setup. In the box is the charging/cleaning base, the robot, a ramp, cleaning solution, and two edge brushes. The Quick Start guide is excellent, and I love the QR code to view a setup video for context and visual assistance. Physical setup takes just 2 minutes. I LOVE that there are stickers with tips, legends, and how-to information on the base and the robot itself to quickly get you going. If you don’t like the stickers, they are easily removable. App setup. If this is your first Shark product, you will have to download the app and create an account. I already had the app and an account so this was smooth for me. Per the instructions, I pressed the Wi-Fi button on the robot. Setup is straightforward except that the “Connect to Wi-Fi” screen will take some time. Be patient or it will take even longer! After waiting 2 or 3 minutes, I decided to check something on my phone and then the setup process stopped. I had to remove the robot from the base and wait a few minutes and put the robot back on the charger to get the Wi-Fi option again. Once setup was complete, the app froze when it was time to map. I restarted the app and was finally able to map. This process was fast and accurate. Then I started the first full vacuum and mop. The App. The app itself is useful to setup your schedule, check cleaning history, edit the map, and adjust other settings for the robot (lights, cleaning behavior when the dust bin is full or when low on battery, etc.). For map editing, you can merge / split / label rooms, and create no-go zones. Robot Performance. Ultimately, the robot appears to navigate really well… better than the previous robot we had. It doesn’t bump into anything. It also moves fairly fast. Most importantly, it cleans quite well; I didn’t see any missed areas. I don’t know how much the UV Reveal feature actually does, but the robot did in fact go back to review / touch up a stain on the tiles. I do very much appreciate the self-cleaning brush, hypersonic mopping, heat sanitizing of the mop pad, and mop pad drying after cleaning. It’s too early to tell how long it will last, but it does seem to be built well. The air neutralizer cartridge seems to work well too, providing an additional impression of a clean environment. Things I love: - All-in-one package that vacuums and mops without any human assistance for several weeks - Navigation is great, with the robot moving precisely - Battery life is sufficient to vacuum and mop the space we have (800 sqft). It can work for 3 hours! - It makes voice announcements about different status - It’s actually pretty quiet - The robot will raise its wheels to get over obstacles - Odor neutralizer cartridges is a nice optional feature Things I don’t love: - I had minor issues with the app this time, and many more problems with the app setup with my previous Shark robot vacuum. Clearly, they are making progress, but work remains to make it a smooth experience. - During setup, the app asked to use my location… I don’t want to share my location! It’s not necessary! Please reduce the invasion of privacy. You cannot proceed with installation of the robot without giving permission for location, but you can turn-off exact location inside the location settings. - Ordering supplies is a hassle… The app takes you to the webpage where you have to log-in, and for some reason, my login there is not the same as for the app. That’s probably my fault, but it’s an impediment to staying within the Shark ecosystem Overall, the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal robot offers convenience and capability. While the robot vacuum market seems to be crowded with many alternatives at lower prices, I think that for the expected quality and reliability of Shark products, the price of this vacuum is probably fair, especially when considering UV detection, self-cleaning features, and emphasis on hygiene, which I haven’t really noticed from other brands. We love this vacuum and recommend it.

----- SUMMARY ----- Verdict: Between work, wrangling the kids, and managing daily household chaos, my free time is virtually non-existent. I needed a robot vacuum that could actually do the heavy lifting without requiring me to constantly babysit it or clean up its messes. The Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal has genuinely transformed our home's cleaning routine. While it carries a premium price tag and features a somewhat basic companion app, its ability to hunt down invisible stains and manage its own physical maintenance makes it an incredible asset for a busy family. Pros - Base station automatically empties dirt and washes and dries the mop pad - Bagless auto empty system saves money on disposable bags - Smart navigation avoids toys and lifts over thresholds - UV light detects hidden spills for targeted scrubbing - Up to three hours of battery life Cons - High premium price tag - App lacks advanced mapping and specific room controls ----- DETAILS ----- Design & The Base Station: The robot itself feels robust and well-engineered, but the true star of the show is the ThermaCharged NeverTouch Pro Base. After a long day, the absolute last thing I want to do is manually empty a dustbin or hand-wash a filthy mop pad. This base station holds up to 60 days of dirt and debris, offering hands-free convenience. It automatically washes the mopping pad using 185°F water and then dries it with 175°F air to prevent odors. Better yet, it utilizes a bagless auto-empty system, a fantastic long-term cost-saver since I don't have to keep buying proprietary dirt bags. Vacuuming & Obstacle Avoidance: Living in Phoenix, fine dust is a constant battle. Add kids and a cat into the mix, and the floors are always a disaster. The vacuuming performance is stellar. It utilizes powerful suction to easily handle dirt and pet hair across both hard floors and low-pile rugs, and actively uses targeted blasts of air to push debris out from edges and corners so it can be sucked up. (Note: Our home consists mostly of hard floors, so I can't speak to its efficiency on thick, plush carpets.) What truly saves my sanity is the NeuroNav AI. Utilizing RGB sensors, lasers, and a camera, it intelligently navigates around the toys naturally scattered across the floor. It also boasts a NeverStuck feature that physically lifts the robot over thresholds and obstacles, meaning I rarely have to go rescue it. My home office has laminate flooring with a significant threshold dropping onto the dining room tile, and the Shark handles it with ease. It even climbs right on top of the foam mat in our oldest daughter's play area without needing a running start. Mopping & UV Stain Detect: This is where the "UV Reveal" name proves its worth. The area right around our youngest daughter's highchair is a perpetual disaster zone of dropped snacks, juice drops, and mysterious splatters. The robot projects a UV light to detect these hidden, sticky messes. When it rolls past the highchair and catches a stain, the HyperSonic mopping kicks into gear. It moves back and forth rapidly, physically scrubbing the floor rather than just wiping a wet pad over it. You can actually watch it detect the splash zone and make multiple targeted passes to ensure stubborn messes are completely removed. The mop pad even extends outward to reach baseboards for a much closer clean along the walls. I admittedly had my doubts, but after the first run, the app generated a map highlighting the stained areas it identified, all of which perfectly aligned with where the kids spend their time. Watching it go back out to specifically target those areas is highly satisfying. Battery Life & App Experience: Battery anxiety is non-existent with this machine. The NeverStop Battery delivers up to 3 hours of runtime on bare floors. If it does happen to run low on juice during a massive cleaning session, it will automatically return to the base, recharge, and resume exactly where it left off. You control everything via the SharkClean app. While it lets you easily map your home, create no-go zones, and set schedules, it is a bit on the basic side. It lacks advanced features like multi-level mapping and highly specific room-by-room mop controls, which you generally expect at this price point. However, it handles the core jobs reliably, letting me trigger a cleaning session from my desk so I can log off and walk out to spotless floors. ----- WHAT'S IN THE BOX ----- 1 x Shark UV Reveal PowerDetect Wet & Dry Robot Vacuum 1 x Shark UV Reveal NeverTouch Pro Base 2 x Shark Robot Side Brushes 1 x Shark Multi-Surface Cleaner Starter (12 oz Bottle) 1 x Shark Odor Neutralizer Technology Assembly 1 x Shark Robot Antimicrobial NeverChange Mopping Pad

I have enjoyed the convenience of a standard robot vacuum for a decent amount of time. It shaves off another ‘thing to do’ in an already busy life that most of us have. However, I never felt the need to have a robot vacuum that mops, let alone a robot vacuum that does both vacuuming and mopping. Truth be told, I never could bring myself to actually trust something like that to do both tasks. I mean, it just didn’t seem like a single machine could perform both tasks equally. And then here comes the Shark Power Detect to earn my trust. Set Up: Don’t let the large box containing the docking base, the robot vac, and accessories overwhelm you. It’s incredibly easy to set up this Shark Power Detect. Setting up the base and the robot took me no more than ten minutes. Just make sure you follow the instructions. Like any piece of robot tech, there’s an app needed to download that allows you to fully utilize this incredible machine. This Shark robot didn’t take long to reach optimal charge before it was ready to venture out and map my home. While it was charging, I set up the cleaning liquid in the reservoir tank. Performance: The first thing that this Shark robot does is venture out to map your floors. This makes sense because it cannot just go out blindly and start cleaning. I think it took about an hour for my Shark to create a map which is sends to the app, allowing you to label said rooms. It also asked me to mark any rooms that might’ve had any carpet(s), but since I don’t have carpet or throw rugs, I told it that there were none. Once the Shark charged itself, it was ready to vacuum. Since my previous robot vacuum is a Shark, I only expected the best performance in vacuuming. It did not disappoint. It vacuumed every edge, and got dust bunnies, recent grass that I tracked in, and debris that comes from everyday life. The Shark would dock and empty itself. Now the Shark was ready to do what I thought was impossible… A proper mopping. Before departing from its docking station, the Shark robot announced what it was about to do. It gathered its cleaning water and then tackled my floors. I cautiously watched as it left a light, wet mop trail. The kind of streak you would get from a spray mop. Once I saw that it wasn’t drenching the floor, I decided that I would trust it to do its thing. An hour or so passed, and then I received a notification via the app that the mopping was done. The Shark docked, and it announced that it was emptying the dirty water. What was more impressive was that it self-cleans its own mop pad! I initially thought that I would have to do that by hand. I inspected the Shark’s performance, and if I didn’t know better, a human did the cleaning. It got everywhere without skipping a spot. The app showed me the floor map where the Shark detected a couple of pet accidents. Earlier, one of my cats had tossed his cookies. I cleaned up the bulk, but instead of using cleaner to get the spot, I decided to leave it as a test spot for the Shark. It’s UV Reveal tech found it and let me know that it cleaned it. I was impressed. Let It Go: So, my reservations about a two-in-one robot have been put to rest. It would seem that I had nothing to worry about. But, then again, maybe if this robot vacuum/mop were anything but Shark, this review would’ve been different.

First off, setting it up was straightforward, but finding a good spot for the NeverTouch Pro Base was the trickiest part. Both the robot and its home base are substantial. Finding an out-of-the-way spot near an outlet has been a project, and honestly, it’s not the prettiest thing. It’s a big, clunky piece of tech. Function beats form, I guess, but I do wish it wasn't quite so huge or such an eyesore. Once it's running, that's where the magic happens. This thing is surprisingly quiet. You can hear it working, but it’s not obnoxious, just a gentle hum. The NeuroNav AI navigation is impressive. It maps out the house fast and learns the layout. I’ve watched it navigate around chair legs, under tables, and even around the kids' scattered toys and shoes. It handles rugs and door thresholds without missing a beat. No tumbles down the stairs yet, which is a relief. It smartly avoids drops. The real game-changer, especially with a dog, is the UV Stain Detect feature. It uses this UV light to find dried-on, invisible stains I wouldn’t even notice. Pet accidents or spilled juice just disappear. It's wild to watch it target those spots and then scrub them clean with its Hypersonic Mopping. It’s serious scrubbing, not just a wet pad wiping. It vibrates vigorously, up to 100 times a minute, actually lifting those stuck-on messes. Our hard floors, mostly tile and some hardwood, have never felt this consistently clean. And the NeverTouch Pro Base? That thing is a lifesaver. It automatically empties dirt and dust into a bagless bin, great because I don’t have to keep buying expensive bags, and holds about 60 days worth of crud. It also refills the robot's water tank, super convenient. The best part is how it washes and dries the mop pad. It uses hot water, 185°F, then hot air to dry it, which kills bacteria and prevents that gross, mildewy mop smell. No more funky odors from a wet pad, thank goodness. Another clever bit of engineering is the Advanced Edge Detection. It blasts air to push debris out of corners, which is genius, and the mop pad actually extends to get right against the baseboards. My old stick vacuum always missed those spots, so having the robot get them is fantastic. It really does cover every inch. Now, at around $1300, it's not cheap, but considering how much time it's saving me and the consistent level of clean it's maintaining, I feel it's a solid investment, especially if you have pets or a busy household with mostly hard floors. The hands-off experience, handling everything from dog hair to invisible spills, is priceless for a busy dad. I'm truly optimistic about the long-term impact this Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal is going to have on keeping our home consistently clean. Even with its bulky appearance and large base, the functionality and intelligence packed into this machine are incredibly impressive. It’s definitely living up to the hype and making a real difference in our daily lives.

I have had the Shark Power Detect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop for a few days now, and it seems to be a good robot vacuum and mop. It has all the latest technology and does a good job of cleaning the hard wood and ceramic tile floors in my home. The Shark Power Detect was easy to set up and requires the installation of a smartphone app. The setup is finalized with the smartphone application where the Shark Power Detect will map your home and determine what areas you have rugs or carpet. Once the home is mapped, you can edit and create room names. You can create a cleaning schedule and set no-go zones in the app. The app will notify you when the clean water tank in the base station needs to be refilled, and when the dirty water or debris containers need to be emptied. The Shark Power Detect did a good job of vacuuming and mopping my floors. Cleaning is quick and very thorough. It uses UV light to detect invisible stains that other robot vacuums may miss. Once cleaning is complete, it self-empties and automatically cleans and dries the mop pad. In summary, the Shark Power Detect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop is a well-designed, high tech robot vacuum. It does a great job in keeping my hard wood and ceramic tile floors clean with minimal effort. I highly recommend it.

I put this machine through its paces, and it is wonderful. I have had several robot vacuums, but this one is by far the most powerful, versatile, innovative and easy to use. I did use the supplied link to a video which allowed me to set up the unit with confidence and simplicity. The Shark folks deserve a tip of the cap for a design that has very complicated built-in technology that is easy to use due to the physical design and the very well-designed Shark Clean app. Once I had the base and robot unpacked and charging, I connected to my WiFi easily (you do need to use ac 2.4 GHz router access point). There is some prep to fill the clean water tank and add the deodorizer capsule on the top, this was easier than filling a coffee maker. The first mission (this is the word Shark uses) was to simply map my cleaning area. You also can mark in the app where you have large, carpeted areas. Small carpet areas are automatically detected and avoided when mopping. When you hit ‘Clean’ you can either vacuum only, mop only or do both; and you can set the suction level. I did a vacuum only first since I wanted the least amount of dust for the mop to hit. The unit does raise the back half about 2 inches up when it comes over carpet so that the mop-pad does not hit the surface of the carpet. Another innovation is that the robot uses UV light to discover if areas need more cleaning. Suffice to say both my runs, first to vacuum and then to mop my porcelain tile floor worked perfectly – all the little water-drop spots, which annoy me, were gone – 100% beautiful. When mopping, the unit will load some water from the tank into the robot and if it runs out, it will return to the base, pick up more water and set out again to where it left off – amazing. It has voice notifications that tell you about progress. The technology and function are blended so that anything I could think of that might be a problem was already figured out and designed into the device already. One such item is that after every mop mission, the unit cleans the mop pad by itself and sterilizes it. I highly recommend this robot vacuum which cleans extremely well and utilizes high technology to make the device easy to use, and safe to use.

I've used a couple different robot vacs in my time and this one has to be the best one I've gotten to try. Setup is pretty simple and the training of the robot vac is a bit nicer than what it was with some of my older model ones. The fact this does both dry vac and wet mop makes this is great addition to every household. Most of the robot vacs I've used were just the "basic" ones that vacuumed. This being one of the newer ones where it's both a vacuum and mop, offers a great boost in functionality and time saving activities. With the companion app, it's pretty easy to setup and operate the robot vac that way. Once you get the unit trained for your floor layout and whatever schedule you want to run it on then it'll be pretty much on auto-pilot after that point. Power wise, it does a pretty good job at sucking up all the little bits of dirt and debris around my place. After each run, it leaves my floors looking clean and dirt free which is what you're looking for here. Also, it tasks a little less time than other models did which is nicer as well.

The Shark - PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop – Black, is the new “kid” on the block putting all other vacuums to shame. With all of its new technology intergrated throughout the system, I have the cleanest carpets and floors ever. The UV Reveal performs very well with both hard floors and carpets. This new built-in UV light can detect stains invisible to my naked eye and command an additional cleaning pass over the area for better cleaning results. There is also Shark’s Edge Detect technology that uses bursts of air to push debris in the direct path of suction. And the obstacle avoidance of the UV Reveal uses an RGB camera combined with 3D sensors and Shark’s NeuroNav AI system to make furniture collisions or small items in the vaccum’s path known and circumvented. The Shark - PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop gave me strong results wiith picking up debris of various sizes and strands and knots of pet hair. The overall vacuuming performance is top of the line for me. The range of automated maintenance features takes a lot of work out of my hands. The dock offers a bagless auto-empty dustbin that saves money on bags. The filters are washable, which saves money and an odor neutralizing module is included. The Shark - PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop has a washing system that cleans the pad using 185°F (85°C) water and dries it with heated air. I notice that in certain instances, the floors are not as dry as I would prefer after being washed. I can notice more water on the floor, depending on how my settings where programmed, but other than that small site on the floor, I only have good statements about the Shark - PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop – Black.

The Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop is an excellent solution for those of us with carpet and tile or hardwood floors. It's by far the most advanced robot vacuum I have used to date. Out of the box, setup is fairly easy. After you get setup and pick the location for the vacuum it runs a layout learning cycle. It's after this you can divide or merge room and set labels. After you're happy with your map, it's time for the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal to do it's thing. The vacuum is powerful and does an excellent job picking up dirt and animal hair from my floor. The NEORONAV AI works very well. It's detects pets walking by it, or laying down in it's path and goes around them, then try to circle back shortly after. The large external dust bin is great for larger areas, and lets you be able to not have to empty it ever time you run the vacuum. The dust bin deodorizer is a nice touch. The included cleaning solution works great, smells good, and dries fast. The UV reveal is great... and scary at the same time, lol. The vacuum looks like a car with under glow cruising the house. You can set schedules through the app to completely automate cleaning. I have mine running everyday while I'm at work. You can also spot clean via the app as well. You can also get more mopping solution from Best Buy.

The most important new feature is the ultra-violet floor scan. After the shark washes the floor, it returns to the base station and cleans the pad. When the pad is clean the Shark Power Detect turns on its UV and scans the floor and recleans any area it determines to still be dirty. You can also schedule the Shark to return to the base station every 15 minutes to clean the mop and return to washing the floor. All the accessories from the previous Power Detect vacuum & mop except the foot brush will fit this newer version. As with the older versions, this one is also no touch. The Base handles all tasks for up to 60 days, before you must refill the clean water tanks and dump the dirty water tank. It also self-cleans the base, washes the mop pad at 185 degrees F and dries the pad at 175 degrees F. The new battery configuration gives you up to 3 hours of running time before it returns to the base for a recharge. The unit lifts and lowers over obstacles. The is also an application available to assist in Quick mapping, scheduling cleaning by room, auto carpet mapping, no-go zones home integration, cleaning reports. The vacuum has extra strong suction and makes it a simple task to vacuum pet hair. The UV feature also identifies dried pet urine and recleans those areas.
