I really went over board on Google Home. I have switches, plugs, cameras and doorbells. When the internet is down, that stuff don't work. The eero signal keeps it up and running by using a cellular signal and keeps the eero system running. I do have to buy a subscription for the service, they offer 2 plans, I just wish they offered a middle plan. ( If you run out of Gbs, you have the option to set it up to use your phones hot-spot). If you have a eero mesh system and a automated home with smart switches, this is a great investment. Very easy to set up.

I have had the signal for almost a month. Never realized how many internet outtages there have been. Mostly short blips, but still. The signal takes over effortlessly and you get notifications when it does. The tech support for EERO is fantastic and have been very helpful. There are some things need to know that I found out that may be helpful. Not a tech person so excuse the non tech talk. This unit has to be plugged into the extender to work. For my internet they had to change the extender to become the modem which is one plugged into the original modem which is plugged into the signal. Speed is still there. If you have multiple items plugged (eternet cable) into the original modem in order for the items to work during internet outtage you will need a switch to plug into the EERO that has the signal). There is only 1 port which the switch has multple ports this will allow back up on the other hard wired items like cameras and so forth. There is a subscription and that is a catch, but not really that bad. Currently there is a choice of 10gig for a year or 100 gig each month. For peace of mind I took 100 a month. I was out for almost a day and used up 3gigs easily without being home and working. With the knowlege of gig usage I changed to 100 a month at this time it is pretty reasonable cost. The app is user friendly and allows you to choose what item you want to use during net out outtage. This really comes in handy when you have the 10gig for the year. No the Gigs do not roll over to the next month. When I lost internet the signal kicked in and the speed was reasonable unlike the phone hot spot it did not slow down and was pretty consistent. No, this is not a battery back up and in a power outtage and you loose power you will not have internet. To sum up: easy set up, easy usage, additional cost for gigs, great customer service through EERO. Don't forget the switch for multiple ethernet connected devices, shut down back up for devices not really needed during outtages to save data.
