This model is an excellent product. I feel very secure in my home, it was very easy to install. I love how the system automatically checks daily to ensure all sensors are functioning. If there is a malfunction, I receive a notification through the phone app and the homebase announces a warning notification. The remote is an added benefit. Love it...

This product is a great idea; but a few problems. Some them/some me. The motion detectors pick up my medium sized dog (and cat when he lived here). Because of this I can’t use the alarm when I’m gone. Was told to install them upside down - but that didn’t work either... the adhesive strips to hold up sensors can be iffy & I’ve had a sensor and a motion sensor fall down/be removed by lifting a blind. As far as me? Some of the problems are myself, as I have pieces of gear I haven’t installed yet due to lack (ugh) of knowledge & my helpful son moving out. Wish I could get a tech out here (like with ADT), but that isn’t offered - to my knowledge. Overall, a great idea — when it works. As far as myself, meed to get the system (motion sensors) issues figured out/then add my new gear. Sad face here. :-(

Awesome alarm and simple to install. I only have two minor issues. 1 - the system should be able to verbally tell you what door opens as most systems. 2 - they should be a little more transparent about the 2 different monitoring plans. You have to have the interactive plan to have full control of your system remotely. Other than that I love the system.

Just switched from ADT to simplisafe and couldn't be happier!!

The latest "Shield" security system from SimpliSafe is without a doubt the easiest & the best looking alarm system I have installed; and I have installed over a dozen systems to $5,000 & up from various manufacturers in homes, including in my own home. This newly released completely wireless model is ultra modern in appearance & in operation. It literally talks you through each step by voice & by text on the hand held, easy to read keypad. Shield includes: 1) Keypad, 1) Base Station, 2) Motion Sensors, 6) Door/Window Sensors & 1) Key Fob. You can add some very cool & useful accessories for little extra money, i.e. extra sirens, CO2 Detectors, Smoke Detectors, Water Sensors, Freeze Sensors & SimpliCams (Security Cameras). The latest SimpliSafe Shield features smaller, better looking hardware, that wirelessly connects with sensors farther away than the previous model & sends & receives signals faster than before. This means you are protected even in a very large home without signal disconnection issues. All devices include batteries; the entire system continues to operate in the event of a power outage. To begin, simply pull a plastic separator out of each device that blocks battery power until you set it up & follow the voice & text instructions (you do not need to read a manual), enabling the internal batteries to connect & you are off! You name each sensor so Shield can identify it. You press the button to test each sensor. There are no holes to drill; the Keypad & all Sensors are mounted with adhesive tape, included (with spares!). The rubberized keys on the Keypad are just the right size, not tiny buttons like most keypads, and look & feel great. The keypad display area serves as a rocker switch: up/down/right/left. Menu on the Keypad opens up settings, where you can customize chime volume, voice volume, alarm volume, entry delay / exit delay / alarm off time, just to name a few. The Base Station features a most impressive swirling, revolving series of LED's at the base that can be defeated for a hidden installation, or activated to draw attention & to provide exit safety. Once setup, you can activate & connect a choice of monthly monitoring service levels online or via telephone. A major benefit is: there are no contracts. Monitoring is state-of-the-art, connecting to your SimpliSafe Shield by both Wi-Fi (faster) & Cellular (back-up if your Wi-Fi cable is defeated or fails). You can specify which alarm triggers get emergency response & which you only receive private notification. And you can change notification choices as often as you prefer. SimpliSafe has built a dynamite Monitored security system & the "Shield" model includes the most sensors of any model; the included sensors will be needed in virtually all installations, so the Shield is an outstanding value. SELF MONITORING: For those who prefer self monitoring, SimpliSafe delivers this option by you paying for monthly monitoring & you select phone call, email & / or text options. You can choose not to alert the authorities & by this method you have set up a self monitoring system, complete with battery back-up (up to 24 Hr on the Main Unit), Wi-Fi & Cellular connection to the Monitoring Station, who will alert you if any sensor is triggered. Can You Avoid Paid Monitoring? You can use the SimpliSafe Shield as a "local" unmonitored security system; basically a box that screams at the potential intruder & that is all. You cannot activate the built-in Wi-Fi or Cellular to contact you; it is fixed & pre-programmed to only contact the Simple-Safe Monitoring Station. CONCLUSION: SimpliSafe offers modern hardware that beautifully blends in your home setting. It is ultra reliable, easy to set-up & friendly to use on a daily basis. Monitoring is reasonable & there are no contracts. However, if you prefer a security system where the alarm will notify you with an alert (self monitor) without paying for monthly monitoring, look further; SimpliSafe cannot send a signal without paying for monthly monitoring. Some competitive security systems are specifically made to do just this. That is not made clear on the box nor in the advertisements; for this, I deduct 1 star from a perfect 5.0. Monthly security monitoring offers many benefits; if an intruder damages the keypad, the signal is still sent to the station via Wi-Fi or cellular. Broken pipes? A great item for silent monitored alert. A local, unmonitored alarm that screams but does not alert anyone may be practical if your neighbors hear it & if they choose to take action; that is not a chance I choose to take. Best reason to pay for monthly monitoring? Peace of Mind!! For that reason alone, my home is monitored & I recommend you monitor yours, as well. I find SimpliSafe Shield to be a Top Tier Security System for those who choose to hire a professionally monitoring company to protect their family & their belongings. This system is a bargain & is a delight to use. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This is the perfect system for renters, short-term owners, or anyone who can’t afford or doesn’t want the hassle of a hard-wired, fully-installed system. It’s obvious that great care was taken in the packaging of this system. The instruction book is straightforward, & all the components are fully charged & ready for operation. Setup is extremely easy, simple & fast. It took all of 30 minutes to install the sensors & set up the base station. No tools are required. All components are attached by pre-installed adhesives—just unpeel & stick. The keypad guides you through each step of the fairly short process. Deciding where best to install the sensors takes the most time. Pros: - Easy install/setup/operation - Low maintenance. All components list long battery life. - Ability to easily add components (cameras, sensors, detectors, panic buttons, sirens) - Built in WiFi & Cell connection - Base Station includes rechargeable backup battery good for 24 hours - Pleasant voice prompts advise of alarm status when appropriate - Portable for moving/re-installation - Beautiful design & modern look - No contract for active monitoring Cons: - Although the Base Station has a 95dB siren, it’s not really loud enough to get the attention of neighbors as an installed system would. Therefore, the Active Alarm Monitoring (~$15/mo.) is needed or additional sirens should be installed near an attic vent. - No instant-on option. If a sensor is triggered, the alarm sound is always on a 30-second delay to allow time to turn it off. But an instant-on option would be useful for nightly use when you’re home & safely in bed. Otherwise, an intruder would have a 30-second advantage before the alarm sounded.

I've read countless reviews around the easy setup, and awesome monitoring. Gone are the days where you have to sign some long contract, and pay for installation. I received the white unit, with 6 entry sensors, 2 motion sensors, and a key fob. The sensors can be applied to windows & doors easily with the adhesive tape. So far, none of them have fallen off, even after repeated door slamming from the kids. Benefits: 1. Cellular and Wifi connectivity. If your internet is done, no worries, it will still work over cellular connection (with no service fee and active monitoring subscription).. 2. Battery backup of the base station. It comes with batteries already installed, and they're easy to replace should they go bad. I'm not sure if they're rechargeable, as I didn't check. A simple screw driver will allow access to the battery compartment. 3. Monitoring that isn't super expensive. I signed up for the better of the two plans, just so I could have the remote deactivation ability. We have a new home, and sometime contractors have to enter without us home. It's nice to be able to remotely deactivate/activate the alarm. On to the install: Step 1, is easy. Plug the base station in and remove the battery tab. Then, remove the keypad, and remove the plastic battery tab to begin setup. Step 2: Place the sensors, one at a time, taking the keypad with you. You'll need to push the "test" button on each, and name them using the keypad. Naming the sensors is similar to old T9 texting on a phone without a full QWERY keyboard. Step 3: Activate monitoring. This is where I had an issue. They payment gateway screen kept saying "Check internet connection." It didn't matter if I reset the base station, setup Wifi on the keypad, or used cellular to proceed (via hotspot). My step 4 was calling support. Normally, you'd just walk through online setup and payment, but I couldn't get that far. After waiting a couple of minutes for someone to answer my call (placed in queue w/hold music), I was quickly on my way to activation. The support experience was great. They asked me for the Serial Number of my base station and the keypad. Then walked through gathering my information for payment, and sign up of monitoring. The representative I spoke with was easy to understand, and really made the experience great. She walked me through how to use my system, the menu navigation, and ensured that I was able to login to both the online portal, and the iOS app. It was great! The app is super intuitive, and simple. I signed up for the better of the two plans. It allows remote activation/deactivation via the app. SimpliSafe is really a no brainer. Especially if you don't want to be stuck on a contract from a competitor for 2 years+ to pay for the system. The most expensive plan is still under $30, and provides the same level of monitoring. I went ahead and ordered another keyfob while I was on the phone with support, and I'm eager to set it up. Really happy with the setup process, and SUPPORT is a big win. Didn't feel like I was talking to a robot. The experience was great.

Setup: SimpliSafe gives you the ability to set up your own home security system, and this was neither difficult nor time-consuming. I actually enjoyed it! Upon opening the box, I found each device to be well-presented and clearly labeled. As expected, there are instructions included, which are clear and concise. Pulling out the plastic tab on each device activates the batteries, then you place each device in the appropriate locations and connect them wirelessly. There is not much more to it than that! The simplicity seemed too good to be true, but it was truly that simple. Design: Although I did not own the previous SimpliSafe model, I appreciate the updated design. Unlike the previous model, this system has a modern and minimalistic look to it. Each device is well-designed and discreet. Even after setting everything up, I can hardly notice the system in my home, which is nice. The base station is the largest of the devices and it must be placed on a flat surface but, again, I do not mind having it visible on my living room end table due to the modern, sleek design. It is actually quite comforting to see it and be reminded that SimpliSafe is providing an added layer of security to my home. Something else that I wanted to make sure I mentioned is that the keypad is easy to use. Since this is where the interaction occurs on a daily basis, ease of use was very important to me. I can happily say that the screen is easy to read, the buttons are easy to press and options can be easily navigated Security: Thanks to SimpliSafe, I have never felt more secure in my home or while I am away. Each device integrates seamlessly and is very responsive. There is almost no delay between activating the alarm or being notified when a door/window opens. It is also comforting to know that there are a number of backup features like power outage protection, a cellular connection reinforced by Wi-Fi, and the system still notifies authorities if the keypad is damaged by an intruder. There are even more backups in place, so it seems that SimpliSafe has thought of every situation! As a pet owner, I appreciate that the motion sensors can recognize heat signatures of humans and know not to trigger the alarm for pets moving, running, or even jumping around. I also like that you can add additional devices to the security system as desired. There are even home protection devices such as water sensors and smoke detectors. SimpliSafe definitely has you covered when it comes to home security and protection! Verdict: Do yourself a favor and invest in a SimpliSafe security system. Whether you just get the basics or upgrade to every device that is offered, you will not be sorry! As someone who has had their home broken into, I would like to say that a home security system is one of the best investments you can make. You may think it could never happen to you, but that is what I thought as well. The heartbreaking feeling and loss of a sense of security when an intruder breaks into your home is something you never fully get over, at least not for quite some time. I wish I would have owned this SimpliSafe security system sooner. It may not have prevented the break-in attempt, but I am confident that it would have certainly deterred the intruder right away and maybe even could have led to an arrest. This system easily deserves a five-star rating!

I was in the market to change out my security system from the pre-built one and decided to try out SimpliSafe. I have been very impressed with the product and the ease of the install / setup Pros: Durable / Made Well Connection through Cellular Has both Sticky and Screw hole options Battery Sensors lasts for years Primary HUB has backup Battery power Easy Read Panel Loud Alarm Speaker Additional Purchased Sensors Easy to Setup Cons: Cost of Additional Sensors Unable to select Cellular Service HUB goes through White Covering gets dirty easily Primary HUB is bulky Setup / Install was very easy and there are audible walk-through's. The first step is to plug in the main hub and it will go into "Test Mode" which allows you to setup all the sensors. There is an app you can download on your cell phone as well however I chose not to use the app. The Sensors for the doors and windows have both the sticky strip and screws. I chose to use the sticky and so far it has remained in place without any issues. The sensor has a magnetic bar you line up with the senor itself between 2 markers on the casing. The magnetic bar also has sticky strip on it incase the surface is not magnetic. The main hub has been very reliable and when my power went off one night due to storms it remained on without any hesitation of the power switching from AC to Battery. My only concern is being unable to select the cellular service upon purchase as some cell services are weaker than others. I have not experienced the issue however was informed you can call into their customer service to have another Cellular service SIM card installed. The keyfob has been easy to use, has good reach range and lightweight to carry on my key-chain. Signs / Spikes are provide to alert would be criminals that your house is protected. They are decent plastic board that if not careful will fly away on windy days.. Subscription service was easy to setup, it cost about 15 bucks a month which is not bad and competitive with other security companies. Upon purchase it comes with a 1 year subscription service.

Great alarm at a very attractive price. The alarm system was super easy to install. It took me about 10-15 minutes. The instructions were spot on and very easy to follow. One of the things I really like about this system is the fact that I can choose which entry point I don't want triggered when I set the alarm but it will still notify me if that entry point is opened. Example, I put one of the sensors on the patio door and left it out of the away or home group because, there was not enough time to open the back door then get to the keypad to shut off the alarm. Plus a couple times I came home opened the patio door and went back outside to get something then the alarm would go off. But with this feature I don't have to worry or hustle to get to the keypad. And I don't have to set the delay to a long time. Notification is fast and the main unit also chimes when an entry point is opened. I do need to get an additional two sirens, one for outside and one for inside, because I don't think the one on the base is loud enough. I am really glad I chose this alarm system. You also have the choice to have it professionally monitored or you can self monitor. Another great feature is the built-in backup battery the keeps the unit on if the power goes out. It also announces that is is on battery when the power goes.

Just to set expectations here -- I'm not commenting on the monitoring service. As of this writing, I don't have monitoring activated, so it's really too soon to review that! I'm commenting on the devices that are contained in the kit and setting them up. This kit included the base station, one keypad, one remote fob, two motion sensors, and six entry sensors. The packaging was really impressive -- everything had its own compartment with a description of what it is. It's a firm cardboard material, so I'm assuming it'll break down like normal waste -- no excessive plastic. It included a really nice setup guide with pictures and very clear instructions. Overall, the packaging and the guide would make it suitable for someone with zero technical aptitude or confidence. I'd have no trouble recommending this to anyone who is non-technical. The base station is somewhat attractive, looks like a vase or something, would look just fine sitting in a conspicuous place on a shelf. All you have to do is remove the battery safety tab and plug it in. The keypad has a bracket with adhesive pads that are similar to the 3M "Command" adhesive systems that allow you to stick hooks to the wall and remove them without damage. The kit comes with extra adhesive pads. When you pull the battery safety tab, it wakes up and tells you what to do to set it up and begin adding sensors. The sensors are easy to set up, too. The most challenging part is figuring out where to put the motion sensors; which room or area do you want to monitor? Also -- I have large dogs, so I am watching these sensors to see how they respond to the dogs before I let them be monitored remotely. The door/window sensors are also really easy; there's a rectangular notch on the front face of both pieces; just so long as those notches are closest to eachother, there's lots of flexibility in how to mount them. It doesn't seem to matter which part is stationary and which moves; I put the passive magnet thing on my door trim and the active sensor on my door because my door trim has a shaped profile so the active sensor wouldn't lay flat on that molding. The sensors don't have to be touching, so long as they're less than 2 inches apart. I know the door sensors are working because the base unit signals when you open and close doors. So -- the equipment looks great and appears to function quite well. It's very well designed and it's very simple to install. So far I'd recommend this system. However, the system is not very useful without subscribing to the monitoring service. You can turn on monitoring, but it'll just use the base station as an alarm. I'd think/hope that there would be a way to use the system over the internet with the app -- for example, sending alerts to the app or your email when a sensor is triggered, but nope. So now I'm going to activate a monitoring plan, so I'll comment on this review after I've had a chance to use the service. Activating through the app and the website hasn't worked so far, so I have to call customer service. Wish me luck!

I've spent a lot of hours installing networking and surveillance equipment for large business customers. I've deployed more sensors, panels and other stuff than I'd like to remember. Simplisafe's equipment was extremely easy to set up, name sensors and deploy on windows and doors of my first floor. I ordered some additional sensors (glass break, water sensors) from Simplisafe's site to add to the system after installing everything that came with this package, and I can't describe how nice it was to easily pair wireless sensors and give them names from the intuitive keypad. Monitoring is reasonably priced, and there are no extra fees for added sensors (although camera storage does cost extra, but I have nest and arlo stuff for that). I interacted with a few different monitoring center operators over the course of the install, placing the system in test mode to ensure good placement for my glass break sensors and whatnot, and they were very professional and personable. The Simplisafe online portal is very user-friendly and provides lots of options for setting entry delays, instant triggering of alarms with any sensor type, setting phone numbers and contact information for people you want them to call in the event of an alarm. Push notifications from the app (which is only available with the higher priced monitoring tier) are very reliable on our two Android devices. I highly recommend Simplisafe (both the hardware and the monitoring) if you're in the market for a DIY-installed alarm system. Look at their online store if you have additional areas to cover as well.

This company recent upgraded all of their product line. They went from a 1980s looking product with dated functionality to a truly enhanced product line. All in all there has been dramatic improvement. The improvement boils down to two areas of enhancement. Connectivity and design. Connectivity has improved drastically, the product are now all added by means of the key pad, prior you had to install an app on your phone and refresh until the bluetooth spoke to the base which spoke to the cell towers which relayed back. Now, its all wifi enabled which makes changes and response time almost instantaneous. Design - Everything from packaging to product designs has been changed for the better. The old pastel faded look now has a sleek white design that allows to blend in better in newer homes... as eggshell is no longer an "in" color. The keypad is a breeze to understand and installation is a piece of cake. I installed me entire house with 8 items in less than 15 mins. These guys are ahead of the curve in terms of functionality and use. All in all i would recommend this product if asked. Worth checking out.

Buy this with the intent of purchasing the $14.99/month 24/7 professional monitoring. Set up is a breeze if you're familiar with other home security systems, and 6 entry sensors along with 2 motion sensors is a pretty sweet deal. I'm not sure if you can get additional sensors separately. The key fob is a nice touch as well. The 95dB siren isn't as loud as you'd hope but it does the job.

This has to be the absolute easiest home security system I've ever seen. From opening of the box to setting up a complete connected system should honestly take no more than an hour (depending on how many extra items you've added). Unboxing is simple--it's packaging is sleek and everything in the box is very clearly labeled. There is an actual instruction manual (!) in the box that walks you through install in easy to follow steps. Essentially you plug in the home base in a central room, then start adding pieces (which the base lets you know it recognizes through audio cues) as you go. The pieces included in this kit are the home base, a keypad that you set a pin for and mount beside your entry door, two motion detectors and six window/door open sensors. According to the instructions there are also separate panic buttons, cameras and window break sensors available, but they are not included in this kit. The toughest part of installation is figuring out where to mount everything. You then use the keypad to label each piece as you add them (such as "bedroom window" "front door" etc). That way if there is a trouble alert you can identify it very easily. Everything was found and paired quickly, and the audio cues are easy to recognize. Testing and setting the system are also a breeze. It has a "home" and "away" setting for the motion detectors, so that you can move about freely without setting them off when you're home. It also explains how to fix the motion detectors so pets don't set them off. The biggest issue I had is that basically everything in the box uses double-sided tape as a mounting system. The keypad fortunately comes with a bracket as well, and I highly recommend using it since it will eventually fall off (and possibly damage it) if you don't. The window sensors were a little tricky as well. Even the motion detectors that are well-designed to fit in corners do not feel very sturdy with only the double-sided tape holding them up. It is up to you to pay for the separate fee for monitoring. The system is VERY loud, and will scare off anyone that breaks in, so it's probably not necessary, but it does complete the system. You can also add smoke detectors for a complete home monitoring system. For everything this system does and can expand to, and for how incredibly easy it is to install I highly recommend this.

I’ll try to keep this brief. ADT wanted nearly 50 bucks a month. That’s not insane but it becomes insane when you multiply it by 36 months, which, is the contract they want to sell you. That’s 1800 dollars but you put no money up front. I’m not 100 percent sure we’ll be living here for three years so when ADT wouldn’t budge on the length of the contract I started looking around. (They said there’s options for that but who wants to deal with moving services when you’re moving, no thanks.) For under 700 I bought this system with 11 entry sensors, two motions, one siren, a doorbell cam and they gave me a complimentary indoor cam for free. Simply safe is insanely easy to set up. Don’t use the sticky tabs on the sensors without screwing them in. You need to screw them in. The sticky isn’t enough and if it lets go, you’ll have a false alarm. Still, it is EASY! The set up is seamless and the App is robust and fast. I did sign up for the upgraded service (24.99 per month) so I don’t know how the app works at the lower price point but I wanted full access to video and control of the system from my iPhone. If we stay here for 36 months I’m still at 1600, less than ADT and I can cancel whenever I want. The ADT package also included zero cameras. And obviously no app for camera review at the 49.99 price. The customer service is good. You can call and put the system in test mode when you want to test new gear you’re adding. That’s another nice thing; you can build on the system and make it more secure as your money allows by adding extra pieces. The little fob that comes with it is cool, it can turn the alarm on or off and there’s a red emergency button on the top of it (just like the main pad) that will set the system off. My wife keeps it in her closet with one of our handguns and that’s the emergency fall back spot. Get in there with the kids, hit the button and defend the position. Long story short, it’s been in for over a month and we’ve had zero problems. If you can afford to put some money out up front, and you don’t want a long term contract, this is the way to go.

If you own a regular security system you are probably well versed with the wiring challenge it possesses and how difficult the the whole process can be. Finally Simplisafe shield provides a total security solution with the advantage of being totally wireless. All you do is turn the components on and place them around the house. You do not need an expert to tell you how to install it. The system came in a small package and includes the following - Keypad (1) - Base Station (1) - Motion Sensors (2) - Door/Window Sensors (6) - Key Fob (1) There are various addons like camera etc that can be added easily. The setup is easy and you need to only name each sensor for the system to find and recognize it. Takes around 25 o 30 mins to get it all up and running. You can easily activate wireless or cellular features by paying a monthly fee. Unfortunately these features do not work in standalone mode since the system is programmed to talk to the provider only. The wireless nature is a definite appeal to home and apartment renters. An excellent top of the line wireless security monitoring system from Simplisafe.
