This Sony receiver is pretty good for its price. Bought a vehicle that didn’t have CarPlay so I invested in this receiver and I’m pretty happy with the outcome. Pretty smooth and easy to use. Only thing I wish it had was HD Radio, but I mostly use Apple Music on CarPlay anyway.

Beautiful display and responsive touchscreen. Looks great in my 2014 Ford Fusion. Allows you to upload custom wallpaper and watch videos via WebLink app. Gave it four stars instead of five because attaching the monitor to the base after installing in the dash takes a very steady hand and magnetic screwdriver to line up the screws.

It’s okay. The stereo sticks out in my Jeep wrangler. It’s not too dark. It just beeps a lot when you turn on your car. Doesn’t always play when connected with ApplePlay. It a whole lot better then the stock stereo, but that’s about it. I will be replacing this, it’s just a temporary fix.

It is not a good product, I think that a similar one that costs 300 dollars less would do the same job, a large screen if it is good, but during the day the reflection of the light does not allow you to see the screen, frequent connection problems, precuently failures, I would not recommend this product or the installation service very cost and poor quality

This is the best sounding stereo I've ever had in a vehicle. (Brings out the best in the stock Bose speakers that came with the previous outdated stock stereo) It delivers crisp clear sound with a choice of high and low bass settings, preset or customized music choices in the equalizer menu. Nice color choices on the screen plus ability to load personalized wallpaper on the screen. Be aware that there are added costs such as an install kit for each different car, and a special antenna for local stations. Backup camera is available for purchase also. Unfortunately my salesman did not know enough about the stereo he was selling me to make sure to sell me the tuner (another added cost) that I needed to take advantage of my Sirius/XM without having to use Bluetooth to hook up my phone. I do not want them to have to do another teardown on the dash of my customized truck to fix that problem as some of the dash lighting was already compromised and no longer works during the install of this stereo. (I had to sign a waiver agreeing this could happen to the dash lighting so they are freed from responsibility to have to repair it if this happens) All in all I love the stereo and being able to take advantage of my music streaming apps and talk radio shows as well as my fav local stations. The included microphone allows for hands free talk during phone calls over your car stereo which is a great option bringing my older vehicle up to the present that was made before that technology.

This is a very good unit. There is an upgrade to an 8100 model coming out that has HDMI but its basically the same. I recommend this cheaper unit if you’re only looking for a head unit that upgrades your sound, is simple and good looking. I would recommend this unit if you have the space. You don’t want it covering vents or buttons, or have to put in an area with constant sun light hitting it. No head unit can stand up to the sun. It won’t be a good look. My car had the space for it, so measure first. It looks OEM in my car but could look silly in others(same with all big screens). If you have the space, it’s terrific. Glare is not bad if the unit is properly located. Just because its single DIN, doesn’t mean that it will look good in your particular car. You’ll need good wires for stable Apple car play. Don’t use a cheap connection to your phone. It’s working well and Best Buy did a good installation job. Three year warranty!! Sony stands behind this quality product.

I was looking for a stereo unit that would give my C5 up to date technology like Apple car play and a nice interior touch. This unit didn’t disappoint! Well built with simple instructions on how to make it come to life. The screen is big but it was the look I was going for. I have gotten so many compliments on it especially with how smooth it transitions as you toggle through each option. This unit has changed my daily driving experience. Highly recommend it!

The stereo was ok. Liked the big screen. The stereo kept locking up while using CarPlay. Didn’t like the mono sub output on the RCA’s. Other than that the stereo is simple to use and has plenty of power for whatever you do.

Works great, Apple CarPlay worked correctly. Good size screen for directions. Have had no errors after owning for several years.

this is a great radio for the price point. I have this in a 20-year-old Mercedes wagon and this hits the spot for a restomod. Any glare - no issues because I have tints all the way around - 20% in front, and 5% after the passenger windows on the back. but it performs as expected, not any morem, not any less. Would I install this in a Lambo or Rarri, Bugatti, or McLaren or even Mercedes SL....highly unlikely, but, for a sweet wagon, this is the right move. Here's the best part about this whole deal - the radio was on sale! Yes, $550 on sale and install was free. Geek Squad did a great job installing and I actually was advised by the Best Buy sales guy that i needed two items, that the Geek Squad rep said that I did not need and he return them for me so I saved even more money. Would I spend over $1,000 on a radio setup - yes, for the right vehicle. Would I pay $550 to put this stereo in a $100k + value car, most def not. I was expecting some glare, got none. I was expecting audio quality issues, I currently have non. I think once you understand this last point, you cannot really go wrong and will be satisfied with what you purchase.

The radio puts out a nice quality of sound. It’s easy to adjust the equalizer, and incorporated perfectly as an aftermarket radio! Even my steering wheel button work with the radio. I only have two complaints. The first is the display when in the sun, you really can not see the screen. My second complaint is sometimes my phones will not automatically reconnect to the radio and I have to turn the car off and back on again to get it to register my Bluetooth.

I seen a lot of mixed reviews. I did a little Research and it’s a pretty awesome deck for a cheap price. It has everything you need.I just wanted to add you may want to Inc. and additional amplifier for your speakers to give your system added sound. Which I’m sure obviously all you guys know.

My kids old ranger was only single din but I really wanted them to have a back up camera. This works great with the camera and the large screen. It has very good features and the deck power seems to work well with the Skar 6x8 speakers. Bluetooth integration is easy and works well. Install is not for novices, it doesn't come with a sleeve or any mounts, just the screws. I had to fabricate the mounts but it definitely won't be easy to steal.

My first Sony radio was the AX 1000 series. I installed it in a 2009 Honda Odyssey with no navigation from the factory. Basically the wiring harness was the same between the two radios so the AX 8000 is a plug-and-play upgrade for you do-it-yourselfers out there. I purchased a second faceplate kit for the 2009 Honda Odyssey so that I could have this radio all mounted up and ready to go on the day I installed it. Simply took the trim off removed two bolts and swap the wires onto the new unit and I was done within an hour it was up and running beautifully. The larger screen could be a little brighter in bright sunlight however, the bigger screen real estate of the 8000 series is much easier to read while you're driving. This 8000 series kind of upgrades the dash panel to the newer look of the newer cars. FYI depending on your install: on the back of the display panel is a USB port which you can utilize with an extension cable that came with the radio. When doing your faceplate kit install the plastic pocket under the single-din in mounting area in the top of the faceplate and you have a spot to stash that cable. Get one of those shorter lightning cables to plug into that unit and utilizing a air-conditioning vent mount for my iPhone it sits on the dash perfectly and stays charged while feeding CarPlay play into the display panel. Get Surius-XM mobile app for your iPhone or your Android and you can listen to Sirius XM without having to waste time with a converter or another antenna on the vehicle. Like I mentioned this 8000 series will work for Android and iPhone's. The AX 1000 series was only good for the Apple iPhone and nothing else. All in all a reasonably priced upgrade.
