I have owned the ECMGZ1M and theECM-B10, and I love the Sony hot shoe connectivity. I upgraded to the ECMM1 and I am amazed at how versatile and effective it is for a run-and-gun camera setup. The variable pickup patterns and noise reduction make this an incredibly useful mic. And it’s tiny! Absolutely buy it.

My Sony ECM-M1 experience

I've read a lot of positive reviews and decided to give it a try. I used the mic as my primary audio source on a recent shoot and it worked flawlessly. I love the fact that it records four channels of audio. I ended up needing to use the safety channel on a couple of clips because there was loud ambient audio and it worked great. It works as advertised.

This is the perfect size. Especially for vlogging, however if you're looking for the best quality and not walking around with it, then you may be better off with a shotgun or dji mic 2. I love this thing. no cables, clean, directional choices.

Super easy to use and understand, plug and play. No worries about whether it’s on or not cuz it gets power from your Sony camera, and it’s small which is a win in my books cuz it makes it easier to travel with vs a lot of other shotgun style mics
