The Homecoming: A Christmas Story - DVD

Meet Elmer (Mickey Rooney), an old man with precious little to show for his long life other than a few meager possessions and a handful of homeless acquaintances. Elmer is a cheerful, petty thief getting by on a smile and an ingenuity that with his advancing age is beginning to fail. While breaking into a car, Elmer is caught by the owner, a stiff-lipped man named Reg, who has no patience for a common criminal and who is not one bit sentimental about it being the holiday season. In exchange for his freedom, Elmer goes to work for Reg doing odd jobs to compensate for the damages. Amanda, Reg's adorable 6 year-old, and Elmer take an immediate liking to each other. The little girl is convinced that Santa has brought her a grandfather for Christmas. Good performances and a touch of the supernatural help along a solid sentimental journey.

Ebenezer Scrooge is a wealthy, miserly curmudgeon who lives alone, keeps to himself, and spends his days counting his money. He has no friends or family, hates Christmas, and refuses to donate money to the needy. Scrooge was not always so crotchety, however. As a young man, he had friends, family, and a fiancée. Scrooge gets a chance to change his ways when the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come visit him and take him through a series of visions. A dark and wonderful retelling of the classic story from one of Broadway's most imaginative directors, Michael Arden, and the Tony-winning virtuoso, Jefferson Mays, starring in 50 roles of a lifetime.

A catastrophic rescue mission leaves him wounded after his wife walks out on him, so heavily decorated, reluctantly aging rescue diver Ben Randall takes some leave from the ocean to assume instructor duties down at the naval training base. There his humorless pedagogy rubs a lot of trainees the wrong way, but a champion high-school swimmer, Jake, has no problem keeping up, and it looks like old Ben may have found someone worthy to be his replacement. But first each man has to wrestle with his own personal demons.. and each other.
