Bassist-composer Martijn Vanbuel is a 'global citizen' who lived in Paris, Shanghai and Taipei, and worked at high levels with notable figures in jazz, pop, and world music. With Orbit Folks, he combines all of these influences into his own whimsical universe, for which he borrows sounds, rhythms and colors from every corner of the musical world. Orbit Folks presents cinematic music, often longer compositions, but groove-based and with enough space for improvisation. Think intelligent and hypnotic world-jazz-rock, somewhere in the middle of Weather Report, Tortoise and Jaga Jazzist. This is Orbit Folks' debut . Album Tracks 1. My Favourite Rhythms 2. The Ant Colony (A Tribute to Gödel, Escher, Bach) 3. Kaleidophone 4. Mali Blues 5. Switchery 6. Kaleidoscope Africaine

On Tom Rainey's second CD on Intakt Records, he surprises listeners with standards from Brubeck, Monk and Ellington. For this recording he chose some of the finest players New York has to offer. 'The players are pretty scrupulous... melodic variation is the heart of their method - they acknowledge the changes, but are very much playing the tune not just the frame. Think of the collective improvisations as multiple obbligatos... ' - Kevin Whitehead, from the Liner Notes. Album Tracks 1. Just in Time 2. In Your Own Sweet Way 3. Long Ago and Far Away 4. Reflections 5. Secret Love 6. Prelude to a Kiss 7. Yesterdays 8. If I Should Lose You 9. You Don't Know What Love Is 10. Just in Time Again
