The Bends is the second studio album by Radiohead. In 1995, two years after an incredible debut in Pablo Honey, Radiohead were under tremendous pressure to deliver. Much to the delight of critics and fans the world over, they did more than deliver-they far exceeded expectations. - Building from the sweeping, three-guitar attack that punctuated the best movements of Pablo Honey, The Bends is grand and forceful; it resonates with anguish and despair. Although the influences-R.E.M., the Pixies, and U2-are still there, this is unmistakenly Radiohead maturing and defining their own sound. Album Tracks 1. Planet Telex 4 22 2. The Bends 3 58 3. Tranquilizer isn't the sound of sedation but resurfacing. Daniel Lopatin isn't condemning our need for escape, but exploring what happens after. The record maps a movement from weightless calm into something more grounded, the necessary cycle of withdrawal and return that keeps us sane in a world both overwhelming and mundane. We plummet from the watery bliss of InchLifeworldInch into the mournful melancholy of InchCherry BlueInch and spastic grooves of InchRodl Glide.Inch As always with OPN, the real collides with the unreal. Listen closely and you will hear the scrape of fingers on a fretboard, a stone sliding across a dungeon floor, the squeak of a door opening. His music has never been an abstract color field; it has weight, edges, shadows. Tranquilizer feels like falling out of a dream you can still touch. Album Tracks 1. For Residue 2. Bumpy 3. Lifeworld 4. Measuring Ruins 1. Modern Lust 2. Fear of Symmetry 3. Vestigel 1. Cherry Blue 2. Bell Scanner 3. D.I.S 4. Tranquilizer 1. Storm Show 2. Petro 3. Rodl Glide 4. Waterfalls
