I bought this for my daughter, and she has already made a few dozen huge pins. She went through the old magazines that we had and would look at the size. If it were large enough, she would then use the circle cutter (with a piece of cardboard behind the page) and swing the tool around. The larger tool was more difficult to turn, but she managed. It has to be far enough so the blade touches the paper. FYI...when it says 500, it really means 500 pins. It comes with enough materials for you to make 500 actual pins. In addition to the magazine pictures, she also found templates to use and sized them to make the 3" pins.
