INSTALL: Before you buy this drive you need to ensure that your motherboard supports it (M.2 NVME 2280 Gen 3). Also, make sure you have the screws you need to attach them to your motherboard (as they aren’t included). But should have come with your motherboard (either on it or in the box it came in) so check before buying. Last, for Ryzen motherboards it seems there are some hoops you may need to jump through. When I installed it in my system my BIOS could see it, but my Windows 11 couldn’t. So, I had to do a google search for “PSA NVME drives disappearing in windows? Here’s the solution reddit” which told me to go into the “device manager” -> Storage controllers -> RAID -> And roll back the driver which switched it from RAID to NVME and then I was good. REAL WORLD TESTING: I decided to use this drive for my games (even though testing shows that it doesn’t really make a difference compared to a standard SSD drive, but that may change in the future with the current consoles which is a debate for another time). So, I transferred 420 GB of game launchers and games from a Sata SSD to the M.2 drive and it took 19 minutes. Which is insane. It maxed out at 490 MB/s (due to the sata drive bottleneck). If it was another M.2 drive it would have been a lot faster. Temperature varied between 50 - 54 Celsius. I did have a heat sink on it (that came on my motherboard). Which will improve temps. BENCHMARK TESTING: Benchmarks are good to look how a drive will compare to another drive but not always accurate for real world usage as most things aren’t a stable sustained write. But more of a look at the maximum possible performance. I tested mine on an Aorus Elite X570 Motherboard in a Gen 4 slot. Again, I had a heat sink on it and temps maxed at 55C. See the attached photo for the results I got. For a Gen 3 it did a great job. BENEFITS: Most people think that switching to an NVME drive is going to be a huge upgrade. If you already have a SATA SSD you won’t see that big of a difference in everyday use but will for specific things. But with them being about the same price it is worth it to buy the faster drive. I didn’t see a noticeable improvement in boot time, opening most programs, or improvement in frames or load times in games. Maybe 1 second or 1 – 2 frames at most which is within margin of error. I did notice added stability in games (less skips, stuttering, dropped frames) but that could be placebo. But think that is due to NVME being able to access multiple things at once where SATA can only do one. Additionally, I noticed a significant difference when transferring large files, and a mild increase in downloads (when going through the install phase mostly with unpacking files). For video editing it was relatively the same, at most maybe less dropped frames, better stability, and mildly improved load times/scrubbing with certain big files. But exporting was the same. So, in general use I noticed almost no difference between my SATA SSD but did notice mild/moderate difference with specific tasks. Especially when dealing with large file sizes or having to pull info from multiple sectors at once. CONCLUSION: This is an excellent drive for the price and performs better than I expected. Compared to a lot of other Gen 3 drives I think this would give them a serious run for their money. But random read/writes struggle a bit compared to some of the more expensive drives. For most people this will be more than enough, and they won’t see a benefit with a more expensive drive. However, Hardcore Power Users will still want to go with a Gen 4. I wouldn’t recommend upgrading from a SATA SSD to this, as I don’t think you’ll notice a big enough difference to justify the cost, but do recommend buying this if you need more storage or if you are coming from a HDD.

The WD - Blue SN570 1TB Internal PCIe Gen3 x4 Solid State Drive is awesome! Extreme high level performance, large capacity for file storage, and lightning fast read/write speeds. This SSD connects to the PCIe slot in your machine, making it perfect for adding storage capacity to your laptop or desktop. If installing it in a laptop that is already using a PCIe device for storage, you will have to replace that one with this one, so make sure you understand your current system configuration before installation. I work with large media files regularly and it is always great to be able to access files quickly and modify them locally instead of using remote storage which increases latency. This SSD has amazing read/write speeds therefore 20GB files transfer between directories within seconds. Even downloads from the cloud are much faster with this drive than with external storage. Installing the drive is very easy. It literally only takes a few seconds to plug it in. Your system should automatically recognize the drive and mount it for use within your OS. Depending on your OS you may have to manually set up the drive for use with your applications. My computer's performance has increased significantly since installing this SSD. I noticed the difference immediately. If you make this drive you primary boot drive, you will notice that your machine boots up in seconds. Even from a cold start, you will be at your desktop within 15 seconds. Simply amazing! This drive works great for virtualization as well. If you are a person that runs a virtual desktop or virtual machine on your laptop/desktop, this drive will give your VM spectacular performance. Your VM will perform like the native OS. No latency. No delay in accessing files. Outstanding! Video rendering and graphic creation is an awesome experience with the WD - Blue SN570 1TB Internal PCIe Gen3 x4 Solid State Drive. Importing files into the application is seamless and fast. Exporting is just as great. I do not experience any buffering or rendering delay, no frame drops when skimming clips, no issues at all. I just got a Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 but it only came with a 512Gb internal drive. My music collection is nearly that size, so I planned to add an external SSD drive via USB4 or Thunderbolt (both should perform about the same). I got myself a USB4 external drive case. And I got this WD Blue SN570 1TB drive and another 2TB SSD for comparison. I was going to use the faster of the two on my Laptop Studio and the slower on a Dell XPS that also needed expansion, but I could add that internally without a problem. I completely expected the 2TB drive to be faster, but that was not the case under most tests. This WD Blue was 4% faster on Small Sequential reads, and 19% faster with Small Sequential writes. And 27% faster with Small Sequential reads, and about equal on writes. On Large Random reads and writes the two were comparable. As were Large random reads, But on Large random writes the Blue was 9x slower. What? I re-ran the small random tests multiple times, with the same results. The large small random difference was nearly 20x on the Blue (surprising and unusual). I tested it against my computers internal drive , and the Blue won all the Sequential tests but lost badly on the random write tests and split on the random reads. Since most of my operations are sequential I expected the Blue to be the better drive in general. If I were doing DB work it would not be my choice but for day to day operations it's performance looks darn good. But it is hard to explain why the small random writes are so slow in the benchmarks. I did some video editing and load times were notably faster from the external Blue than from my internal drive (>15%), and saving the video took exactly the same amount of time. Encoding MP4's was faster with the Blue than with my internal drive (>10%). And ripping MP3 was about 15% faster. These were good numbers, I didn't expect a external drive to be faster than my Studio Laptops internal SSD. I've been working with computers for 30+ years, and the new found speed that today's NVMe SSD have is quite incredible. This WB blue holds it's own, except for small random writes it tremendous drive. And compared to SATA drives it's easily 5x faster. I'm impressed, for day to day activity it a very fast drive, that includes a 5 year warranty.

Pros, 1. A lot of space for programs, data, pictures, videos and music. 2. It's fast especially if you're using it as the main boot drive. 3. It's a small form factor using very little power and doesn't take up much space. 4. A great price for an NVME drive. 5. Great load times for games and most other programs. Cons, 1. Doesn't have a cache so you'll get data slow down. 2. Going to the first point this isn't an ideal drive for someone wanting to constantly transfer files all the time. It's great for transferring files, but the drive will burn out faster if used for that purpose. 3. Not the best drive for content creators. 4. Remember using an NVME drive takes up 4 PCIE GEN 3 lanes.

Great NVME drive. Doing a little research, this is one of those Dram-less Drives (although it uses a small portion of its space as cache), so it won’t be as performant as a top-of-the-line Nvme drive, but it’s much faster when compared to Sata SSD’s or extremely fast when compared to a regular platter style Hard drive. The difference is in the price. A great bang for the buck for budget conscientious PC builds or if you’re in a budged and need to more space on a laptop for example. I installed mine on my gaming laptop that only had one SSD from factory, so now I can install my games on this one and keep the OS separated on the main SSD. Games load super-fast and without any problems (saves battery too, as older platter style hard drives consume more power as they are spinning physical platters). You can download WD’s dashboard software, and it will tell you a little more info about your drive (like life remaining, temperature and if there is any Firmware updates for it), great way to keep an eye on your drive’s health status. WD gives a 5-year warranty on the drive, which is great! Highly recommend this drive to anyone on a budget looking to get the most out of your money!

Reviewing this Western Digital 1TB internal m.2 SSD, I feel confident that this is a great choice for anyone looking for super fast, reliable storage. Computer knowledge is recommended for this installation. I would recommend taking it to a professional if you are not comfortable. The packaging is not much, but it's about what is inside. The SSD is sealed in a soft top blister pack and is secured well enough for transport. Installation into the pc was straight forward. It can be used in PC or laptops. It is important to remember that the drive needs to be formatted after installing it or else the computer will not recognize it and make you think the install didn't work. Performance on the drive is excellent for regular use and gaming for what I can test. Games load in less than half the time of a regular mechanical hard drive. The 1TB gives plenty of space. Meets all expectations. Would definitely recommend.

I was in need of more storage space for my gaming / video editing laptop when this little guy found its way to me. The fastest speeds and latest generation are not at the top of my list when I was looking to expand my storage space. This is last gen M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, and it was just what I was looking for. I have used Western Digital drives for many years, and I have yet to ever have one fail. This one comes with a 5-year warranty, so you can rest assured that you are covered for a good amount of time. After some initial testing of this I was satisfied with the speed of transferring video files, although, I found that the speed will drop down on large files and that is a bit disappointing, but it is not a deal breaker for me. I was able to move my gaming library over to this new drive and on average it took about 20 minutes to relocate a 160GB file from one SSD to another. According to my testing using CrystalDiskMark, I found that the average Read speed was 3500 and write speed averaged 3100, but I did mention that the speed drops off on big file transfers, so I don’t know if I was running the metrics wrong on the speed tests I did. Over-all, the speed is good, the price is great, and the reliability of WD devices is outstanding. It is hard to go wrong with selecting this as an additional storage device or even as a boot device.

I was looking for NVMe SSD drive for my laptop as well as for Synology NAS for SSD cache. I have used many NAS Drives from Western Digital and they never disappointed me. All WD RED NAS drives are running more than 7+ years without any issues. I got Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN570 NVMe Internal Solid State Drive (WDS100T3B0C). It came with SSD drive and owner's manual. Setup is very easy and installed the SSD drive on my gaming laptop quickly as primary drive and reinstalled windows 11. The performance of the drive is outstanding and windows 11 installation completed less than 10 mins. I have done various testing with applications like Lightroom, photoshop and all applications loaded much faster than previous setup. The BLUE color drives are best for everyday consumer use. The NVMe technology delivers up to 3500 MB/sec and read up to 2300 MB/sec. I have purchased two more WD Blue drives and installed it in Synology NAS for SSD Cache and it is working without any issues. The read / write cache perfmance is outstanding in NAS and any data read / write operations are instantaneous now using these drives for SSD cache and the combination of LAN link aggregation. This drive has backward compatibility with PCIe Gen3x1, PCIe Gen2x4, PCIe Gen2x2 and PCIe Gen2x1. It comes with 5 year manufactuer warranty. I am impressed with the read / write results of WD Blue SN570 and highly recommend this drive for gaming, photo editing and NAS SSD cache for faster read / write operations.

In my testing, it was about 98% the same level of performance for about 30% less. MY NEEDS I needed some fast internal storage for rendering movie output. I did not need NVME Gen 4 speeds just something faster than spinning disks. My boot disk is Gen 4 and I had an available Gen 3 slot. The WD SN570 BLUE which is GEN 3 was a great choice. 3616MB/s read and 2992MB/s read with Crystal Disk Mark 8.04 WOW. I tested the WD SN570 BLUE in my laptop (AMD 5800H) but the performance was so good, I’m going to move it to my desktop instead (AMD 5900X) RECOMMENDATION I absolutely recommend the WD SN570 BLUE for all storage need other than Gen 4 needs.

It seems ever since Sony updated the firmware in its PS5 to allow for external M.2 drives to be installed, they seem to be omnipresent, with deals and sales running constantly. To be absolutely clear, the SN750 is NOT for a PS5 as it is Gen 3 and not 4. It’s speeds don’t meet the PS5 specs. Nonetheless, it is an excellent addition to your PC rig whether you are gaming or photo/video editing. This is especially true given its cost. If you follow any tech websites, etc., it is well known that upgrading the type of storage is one of the best (and easiest) ways to increase the performance of your computer. Not just in size, but speed. Solid state drives were better than traditional HDDs, and then M.2’s take it up a notch from solid state drives. I argue the difference between SSD to M.2 isn’t quite as drastic as going from a traditional HDD to SSD. But it’s still a noticeable difference, especially when you are transferring large amounts of files (or playing games). IN THE BOX In the box is just the M.2 drive itself, which still surprises me how small it is. You also get the warranty manual (5 years, which is pretty great) and then you get a free month of Adobe Creative Cloud suite (which is pretty expensive itself but a nice addition). MY SETUP I am rocking an older Alienware Aurora R7. It’s still got a 1050GTX GPU, but since I mostly edit family videos and pictures, it works plenty fine. It comes with a M.2 slot and has space for 3 other HDDs. The M.2 slot was an Intel Optane M.2 which has 128 GBs of space. I never quite understood how effective the Optane memory, but luckily for me I had already disabled it when I upgraded my HDD to SSD a while back. So for me, putting this drive in my desktop was simply plug and play. I didn’t go through the effort to transferring my Windows files to the M.2 (in part because I was lazy) and was using this M.2 for additional, quick transferring storage. If you have a newer laptop (even one as old as 2015) you likely have a M.2 slot. But there are some caveats to installation that I’ll mention before (in the event you’re reading this and are a novice computer person or have never upgraded your storage). INSTALLATION I just want to mention some caveats when replacing or adding new storage to your computer. It is by no means rocket science, but for those that haven’t done it before, I think it’s helpful to know before making the purchase so you know what to expect. If you are outright replacing your old storage (vs. using this M.2 to add storage like me) you will need to clone your current hard drive to the M.2 first. I’ve used Acroinis in the past. You’ll also need an M.2 USB enclosure (which are cheap). The idea is you use your new M.2 as external storage then use software to clone your old hard drive to the new M.2. From there, you can swap them out and then you’re good to go, with increased speeds. If you have Intel Optane M.2 memory already installed (and if you did, it’s likely a smaller GB size, like 128 GB in my case) then there’s a few extra steps to disable that feature on your computer before uninstalling. It might seem daunting, but I promise it isn’t. A little Google research will go a long way. PERFORMANCE As I previously eluded to, I primarily use my desktop to edit videos. I do have some PC games that I play from time to time, but I mostly edit videos for fun (I’m not a professional in that regard). For editing, I need a large amount of space and I need it to be fast. For straight transferring of large data files, I was impressed. I was getting upwards of 3400 MB/s read speeds and close to 3000 MB/s write speeds. The speeds I was getting matched with what I expected (and what the SN750 was advertised to do). Practically speaking, I moved my Adobe software to this drive, where I transferred my unedited video footage and noticed a marked improvement in speed, both in loading files and rendering. It wasn’t something that was mind blowing, but it was noticeable. Did I necessarily need the additional boost in performance? No, but when loading and juggling large files, every little bit counts. And the speed of rendering on my timeline was impressive. I used to wait minutes to render longer video files, now it’s a fraction of that. I loaded some games onto the SN750 and I noticed similar improvements to load times. Again, nothing absolutely earth shattering, but it was certainly noticeable. It took the terribly long load screen in GTA V to something more manageable. Point is the performance gains are well worth it, especially given the cost. CONCLUSION Hard drives don’t get enough credit, even in today’s age. Upgrading your storage is the easiest and cost effective way to improve the performance of your PC. This WD Blue SN750 offers terrific performance at basement prices, all the while including 5 year technical support (which you hope to never have to use, but nice to have). There are of course faster drives out there, but for everyday use, including some video editing (maybe not on the professional level) it makes for an excellent value.

Western Digital SN570 1TB NvMe does the job well and perform excellent in speed and read test. The drive was able to install easily just putting it inside a modern Windows laptop. I also tried the SSD inside a PlayStation 5, not much to say then otherwise it worked and I’m happy to have more space. There isn’t much to the packaging but the box is a little flimsy in shipping as the side of the box was beat up. but everything in the box was fine with no issues to the drive itself. Overall it’s a fantastic Gen3 x4 NvME drive with good affordability. I do see myself getting more of these drives over time. It’s a WD drive that gets the work done and is reliable. So far places a ton of games like Halo Infinite, Cyberpunk 2077, and GTA V that have a gigantic file size on the drive and was able to play them. I wish I had more to say but it’s an SSD doing its purpose. Can’t go wrong here at all.
