About this product
Vivaldi Orlando furioso Original recording reissued Antonio Vivaldi (Composer), Claudio Scimone (Conductor), I Solisti Veneti (Orchestra), Marilyn Horne (Performer Orlando), Victoria de los Angeles (Performer Angelica ), Lucia Valentini Terrani (Performer Alcina), Carmen Gonzales (Performer Bradamante ), Lajos Kozma (Performer Medoro), Sesto Bruscantini (Performer Ruggiero ), Nicola Zaccaria (Performer Astolfo) Lucia Valentini-Terrani, of course, is often considered a bridge performer between the old days and the new, and her performance here, though containing some touches now considered quaint, is close enough to the modern style to pass muster. As for Bruscantini, he was a famous buffo baritone known for rapid patter but not for Baroque music. He copes surprisingly well, not as scrupulous as the distaff side of the cast but still ably working his way through difficult runs and, yes, even a trill here and there. Horne sings through the first act with her usual flawless technique and impassioned, all-purpose energy, but toward the end of act II she suddenly erupts in dramatic outbursts. Where did that come from? And she continues to surprise with more dramatic outbursts in act III. Granted, she's not Janet Baker, but it's still better than average Horne. Album Tracks 1. Orlando Furioso, Opera in 3 Acts, RV 728 Overture 2. Orlando Furioso, Opera in 3 Acts, RV 728 Act 1. Scene 1. Aria. Nel Profondo Cieco Mondo Si Precipiti la Sorte 3. Orlando Furioso, Opera in 3 Acts, RV 728 Act 1. Scene 2. Recitativo. Quanto Somigli, Tempestoso Mare, Al Fluttuar Di Quest'anima Ama 4. Orlando Furioso, Opera in 3 Acts, RV 728 Act 1. Scene 3. Recitativo. Alcina - Alcina. Ah Tal Mi Rendi Il Mio Tesoro? 5. Orlando Furioso, Opera in 3 Acts, RV 728 Act 1. Scene 4. Recitativo. Non Godrai Sempre in Pace / Aria. Tu Sei de Fl'occhi Miei / Ari 6. Orlando Furioso, Opera in 3

After more than 15 years together, Futurebirds have channeled everything they've lived and learned into their best project yet-one that elevates and adds new dimension to their signature cosmic Americana, psychedelic country-rock sound. Fronted by three singer-songwriters-Daniel Womack, Carter King, and Thomas Johnson-whose voices are shaped by a shared history yet distinct lives and personalities, the band teamed up with Grammy-winning producer Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman) on an album that embraces life in all it's chaos and the evolving bonds that hold them together.
