I think tinker tailor solider spy could be le carre's best movie adaptation. but this film is right behind it. the characters are typical of le carre's, disillusioned spies or outsiders of spy craft who choose to do "a decent thing" in the world. excellent acting by both leading actors and they are quite believable.
