Love This Show & Great Price
This is one of the best shows to premiere on the Netflix platform. Additionally, and interestingly, this is a great continuation from the film, especially with the mostly new cast. This is just as good of a continuation as “Soul Food: The Series.”

Takes the good parts of the movie and builds upon
Dear White People is a Netflix original show based on the movie of the same name. It features a new cast and uses the storyline from the movie as a loose outline for the early episodes but thanks to the fact that the show does not have the same time constraints that a movie has. The show takes time focusing on specific characters, diving into their backstories and lives to flesh them out in ways the movie couldn’t. Additionally, the show extends beyond the events of the movie and into the aftermath of the event. For those unfamiliar with the movie and show, here’s a quick rundown of the plot: Sam is a biracial black girl at an Ivy League college where she runs a segment on the school radio station called “Dear White People”, during this segment, she discusses racism. Like many rich white people, her white classmates are not happy with this and decide to throw a blackface party in response. The set includes some bonus features so there is some incentive to buying this DVD set even if you have a Netflix account. While the show deals with issues such as racism (among other issues that affect marginalized groups), it is also a comedy. It’s well-written and well acted and can just as easily make you laugh as it can make you think “Good point” or “I never considered that”. Definitely worth checking out.
