Strong battery, excellent performance
Over the decades I’ve had facial hair — especially the last two decades as a civilian — I’ve gone through more than my share of beard trimmers. I’ve received them as gifts and I’ve bought my own. None of them have performed like this Philips Norelco Series 9000. Here’s what I like about it: Battery life. I take my time trimming and when I’m done I still have three bars. I know it’s used some charge — if I plug it in, the third LED starts flashing — but it tops back up in 10–15 minutes and I haven’t actually needed to charge it. So far I’ve gotten three trims out of one charge. That’s not because I had to; I’m just the kind of man who likes batteries full, the tank full, and the mags full. That’s how I roll. Simplicity. There is one attachment. Every other trimmer I’ve owned came with a pile of plastic guards for different lengths. This has one, and I love that. When I’m finished I clean the trimmer, put a little oil on it, and slip the guard back on so I don’t lose the only piece that matters — which is exactly what happened to the forty little bits that came with the older ones. The length knob is simple and satisfying. I do wish there was a “favorite” setting; I do a longer overall trim, then drop it to the lowest setting for the fine work and neckline, and I always end up wondering what number I used last time. It would also help if the markings were straightforward — 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 — instead of 1.4/6.4, 2.6/6.2 I get the micro adjustments. We men want that, but they could have done something so old grumpy vets like me could remember the setting. So every session starts a little experimental. Thankfully I’ve learned over the years to start long so I don’t run the mower blades down to the dirt - if you know what I mean. Handling and ergonomics. It feels good in the hand and it’s comfortable to use. It doesn’t overheat. It’s super easy to clean. At first I was concerned when the top came off — I thought it was only hinged, and it is hinged, but it also pops off easily, which is fine. It snaps back on just as easily after cleaning. I use an old toothbrush and a little compressed air, then a drop of 3-in-1 or mineral oil on the blades once they’re thoroughly clean. Price. When I bought this it was $99.99, on sale for $79.99. I thought that was expensive at the time. After living with the battery life, the simplicity, and the performance, it felt like good value. It’s now listed at $139 — almost forty dollars more than I paid in December 2024. If it died today, would I buy another? It would have lasted nearly two years, and I only trim every three or four weeks, so I’d hesitate — a trimmer at that original price ought to last longer than two years. That said, it isn’t dead and it isn’t acting like it’s about to give up the ghost. In fact 2 years later, it's cutting just as sharp and precise as it did many moons ago. So when it does give up the ghost, I hope they still have the model, because I have found...what I'm looking for....in beard trimmers. So for the first time in my 42 years of shaving — and on what is probably one of the top 100 most adorably handsome yet rugged faces you’ve ever seen, ladies — I highly recommend this beard trimmer. Men: buy it for yourself with confidence. Ladies: buy it for your man and you will score major points. It’s a solid piece of self-care kit.

You have to use it just right but then it’s great
Quality construction, good weight, feels good in my hand. But you have to use it the right way. In my first photo my finger is on a flat plate on the back of the razor. This plate is key! When you’re trimming your beard, as in the 2nd photo, the blade faces up and that flat plate needs to be flat against your skin (I don’t know how this works if you have a long beard, I keep mine short). When it’s time to define your beard and you want sharp lines on the top and the bottom, you need to do 2 things. First, set the length at lowest, 0.04. Then, with the blade facing down (3rd picture), define the edges of your beard with that flat plate, again, against your skin. It’s taken me a month to figure this out, neither the included instructions nor customer service told me this (customer service actually pointed me to a YouTube review where the reviewer eventually used a straight razor to define the edges!). Anyway, now that I’ve figured it out I’m very happy with this trimmer. And it’s very easy to clean. I especially like that, if you keep your beard on the shorter side you don’t need to use one of those plastic blade guards

Philips Norelco 9000 ultimate
Great trimmer, cuts extremely well and is by far the best trimmer I have ever owned. Also convenient that it takes all of 1 hour to fully charge and be good for about 120min give or take off the 2 hour. In a hurry and realize it’s dead? No worries, you can use the supplied power cord(charging cord) and plug it and use it while it’s directly plugged in to wall outlet. Also if you let it charge for 5 min then it’s good for 5 min of use due to having a quick charge future. Also as a light to tell you it needs to be oiled and 3 power lights to indicate charge. Probably my favorite things is the main blades are metal so theirs none of that flexing stuff. Overall they cut great, they look great, charge fast and are great quality. You see why they are the price they are when you first try them. It took all the first min for me to realize I have been shaving my beard wrong forever and should have purchased something like this a long long time ago. I hope this helps someone decide and no I’m not a paid person who’s sponsored I just love this thing lol sincerely, Al

Love!
My fiancé loved this! He said it’s so much better than having all the different sizes on the end.
