Everyone's favorite narcissistic media personality finds himself at the center of a simmering hostage crisis in this comedy. Smarmy BBC sports reporter-turned-TV talk-show host Alan Partridge (Steve Coogan) never met a guest he couldn't look down on. His career has had many peaks and valleys over the past two decades, and now Partridge has landed a job on the radio. As host of small-town Norfolk's "Mid-Morning Matters," Partridge spins the latest hits while putting an irreverent twist on top local news stories. But when a disgruntled DJ (Colm Meaney) responds to getting fired by taking the staff hostage, Partridge becomes the intermediary between the volatile gunman and the police. Meanwhile, with the entire town watching, it's only a matter of time before the clueless Partridge says something he'll regret.~Jason Buchanan

Alan Partridge Has Returned
Alan was early 40's when he first started working in radio, now he's mid 50's and has seemingly settled into the notion of not returning to TV. Now that his radio station is being taken over, Alan refuses to care until it's apparent his job is on the line, and Alan immediately betrays the one DJ that really cares about his job and his listeners by throwing him under the bus. Alan keeps his job, and the fired DJ takes revenge by holding the whole station hostage.
Alan manages to become the face of the hostage crisis, and his popularity (not to mention his ego) begin to rise again, which immediately leads to Alan screwing things up in his traditional manner.
To follow Alan's career, start with "Knowing Me, Knowing You" which details the chat show that gets cancelled, "I'm Alan Partridge," which is the early days in radio, and this movie is the most recent. You don't have to have seen the previous entries to get this storyline, but it does help as characters from "I'm Alan Partridge" do show up.
