Captures the essence of 70's rock.
|Posted .This is a nostalgic look at the 1970's rock scene and the groupies that surrounded the stars. We're offered an inside glimpse of a rock tour through the eyes of a high school student put on assignment by Rolling Stone. The premise seems improbable but this is the fictionalized version of director Cameron Crowe's real life travels with various rock bands in the 1970's. His adventures are offered in composite form here. Patrick Fugit stands in as the young Crowe and offers a good combination of early innocence tempered by the inevitable jaded view of dealing with real people who just happen to be rock stars. Our idols don't always stand up to close scrutiny. If you want to report objectively, you're not going to be everyone's friend. Very good casting includes Frances McDormand as his strong but loving mother, Billy Crudup as the leader of the movie band Stillwater and Kate Hudson as a groupie that grabs that heart of the rock star and the reporter. In supporting roles are Jason Lee and Zooey Deschanel. Definitely worth seeing as a fine piece of film making plus the period sound track and fine performances all around

A Golden God!
|Posted .Almost Famous: The Bootleg Cut, is a must have! This director's edition delivers deeper story and character relationships, which only enhances an already classic story! A tale of director Cameron Crowe's experience as a teenage music reporter, Almost Famous takes us back to a time when the rock n' roll struggle mattered and truly meant something! Highly Recommended!

A kid wanting too know more about rock stars!
|Posted .This film has adult scenes of crazy lifestyles. They are rockers hoping to make it to the top of the charts and enjoy life along the way. Kate Hudson's character, not a groupie, is an enthused groupie. The story revolves around her and some groupies hanging out with start up bands beginning their annual tour and a young teen hoping to get a good scoop about the band's life while on tour. It was very entertaining. I really liked it.
