Powerful, but...
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Powerful, but not the best value. Build a 2020 iMac. You’ll get more performance per dollar, while spending much less.

A beast of a music workstation.
||Posted .I spent a good two hours this Sunday trying to tax the CPU. The model I am using is the 8 core 32GB model. The program I used for testing was Ableton Live 10 and I hit 51% CPU usage once I ran two drum racks tracks and 54 instances of Reaktor 6 Blocks. Reaktor 6 blocks can tax my MacBook Pro 2014 i7 model after 4 instances in Ableton which would also lead to audio dropouts. This CPU did 54 instances at 51% CPU with no audio dropouts. I did notice there's a pop when you start a new instance of Reaktor 6 blocks but the 8 cores can manage the load. Would I ever write a song with 54 instances of Reaktor 6 blocks? No, but it goes to show this desktop is more than enough to handle the creation stage, the mixing stage, and master buss processing for mastering. Did I mention that at 51% CPU the fan does NOT go on? The cooling vents on the back really help with getting heat away from the iMac Pro. The speaker on the back is also impressive. I was using softube console 1 to do some EQs on tracks with the SSL4000E emulation and it did a good job of making you feel the boosts and cuts and frequencies when working on the stock speaker. Will it replace a good set of studio monitors? No! It will be good for referencing your mixes. I also used it to watch movies on iTunes. Wow Blade Runner 2049 looks amazing on it. I'm so glad I spent the extra money on this machine instead of the 3.8Ghz iMac 27". That would have worked too, but having all this power under the hood makes you want to explore modular synthesis through Reaktor 6 Blocks. You'll also be more adventurous with adding a reverb in each track instead of a send track. You'll also be adventurous in making certain several different send tracks have master buss processing chains without having to freeze resources. All in all I am very satisfied with this workstation.

Incredibly Fast
||Posted .I purchased this computer with the intentions of using it for Video editing of 4K GoPro drone videos and iPhone 4K videos. I am not a movie producer, I just make fun family videos and I don’t want to wait hours for rendering and waiting for videos to process In iMovie. This iMac pro is nearly instant in everything I have attempted to do. I can easily have multiple applications open watching 4K video and edit with no stuttering. It is awesome!!

My workflow became a work river!
||Posted .Since 2012 When I purchased my Mac Mini and a Cinema display from Best Buy. I have been hooked into the Apple verse. My mac mini Core i7 with 16gb severe me well since then. It is only recently I had to change my hard disk. About one month after my Cinema display dies. I was going to load an iMac Core i7 with 64gb of ram and a 1tb ssd. That is until I was able to try the iMac Pro at my local BestBuy. I decided to make the leap one day before Black Friday. I knew the 8 cores and 32gb or ram would get me far beyond what I was using before with Lightroom CC Classic and Photoshop and On1. I just did not realize how far and fast I would be going. Also the timing allowed me to find a better price that BestBuy matched! I save $350 by shopping around. I shoot with a 46mp Nikon D850 those files are huge. .Before on the mac mini it would take almost 5 minutes to load LR CC and be ready to work with the over 80,000 images in my library. On the pro it takes about 30 seconds. Quite an improvement. When sticking large panoramas of 46mp files on the mini it would take hours and sometime not finish. Here it is under 3 minutes for a 14 shot panorama. Amazing! I have some focus stacked images with 50 raw images in the stack. This iMac Pro eats them up in record time. I have never even heard the fans kick on under heavy load. It never seems tp slow down. I am blessed to be able to own one of these screaming iMac's It has decreased the amount of time I spend now on post production. What took multiple hours now takes minutes. I simply love this machine! I also purchased Apple Care with the unit I hope I never have to use it but if I do it is there. I love this iMac Pro and BestBuy!

Fast-Exactly what the professional is looking for
||Posted .I'm a longtime Mac user-especially iMac-and this unit does impress. Aside from the new, beautiful aesthetic, this powerhouse really shines when running applications like Adobe InDesign and Final Cut Pro X. If you're in the professional space, this is worth checking out. About a year ago I built a custom iMac for the same price and this leaves that machine in the dust.

Best iMac Pro yet!
||Posted .Extremely fast! Fantastic color. Could sit and look at the screen saver all day - the color is that good. Super audio sound. Tons of memory. Comes with everything - no need to purchase mouse or wireless keyboard. If you're already a Mac user, it's easy to navigate. Tons of new features - I'm still learning. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. If you're already an Apple fan, you'll love it. Worth the investment.

Stunning Machine
||Posted .This system is not cheap, but dang does it come fully loaded! 5K resolution screen!? It's astonishingly bright, detailed and beautiful. The Xeon processor is "server" grade, meaning it's purpose-built for high-end applications and multitasking. Then there's 32GB of RAM in here for plenty of application buffer. Lastly, there is a very good AMD graphics processing unit (GPU) that renders images, photos, videos or even games with the best of them. No....actually it is the best home computing device.

Q: QuestionI will be blogging a lot does and I am starting my own business? is this a good starter?
Asked by HER.
- A:Answer The iMac Pro is overkill for a blogging business. Unless you are creating/editing heavy video and photo content, save the money and get an iMac but not the Pro. Those machines are more than sufficient for posting content and editing blog sites.

Q: QuestionCan this play World of Warcraft on ultra high graphics/settings along with other games?
Asked by Gingy94.
- A:Answer Yes, this iMac Pro can easily play WOW at the highest settings. I have played the latest Call of Duty bought on the Mac Store at the highest settings with no problems. Also, this machine can be upgraded in the future when more powerful graphics cards come out by buying an external GPU enclosure (eGPU) and attaching to one of the thunderbolt 3 ports. For best performance of games see if the game has been ported to Apple's Metal api.

Q: QuestionIs this the standard for 4K and up video editing and is there another iMac that can give me anything close to this firepower for 4K video editing
Asked by Solo.
- A:Answer This is the best MAC available today for 4K editing using Apple's Final Cut Pro X editing software. This MAC can be beefed up with extra memory, a faster graphics card, and a chip with more cores but this adds appreciably to the cost. The standard IMAC Pro will work well for 4K editing if you use external memory for your projects, and reserve the internal SSD drive just for your operating system and applications. Apple will be introducing a new MAC Pro tower next year aimed at the professional video editing market and it will be very fast, have lots of memory, and will be very pricey. You can go to a custom Windows tower for about the same price as the MAC and you would likely use the Adobe editing software with this. I personally prefer the reliability and simplicity of the Apple OS and Final Cut Pro X, and Apples optional customer service support.
