You know what to expect with a movie such as this: an athlete on the rise who hits a road block and works to overcome it. However, that story arc is what makes sports movies such as this great. Overall the movie was very enjoyable. The fights were intense, the movie had emotion, it felt very realistic. Miles Teller does a great job in this role.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Excellent human spirit movie
An amazing story about an amazing never give up athlete. I remember when the rel world events took place. The movie filled in the gaps of the story I had missed back in the day. I found myself cheering him on even though I knew how the story ended. You can't go wrong here.
I generally do not give a 5 star rating unless it really deserves it and this movie deserves 5 stars. The movie was based on a true story, I did not know it and that made it even more interesting. What a story line, what determination, what stamina, something we all can learn something from watching this great film. Well filmed and well acted. I proudly possess it in my library and you should too!
I didn't see this in the theater so I was a little apprehensive about buying a movie I've never seen before. Being the boxing movie junkie I am I decided to take a risk and get it. Amazing story and knockout performances by everyone in the movie. Right up there with southpaw to me.
