It's nice to have a choice between DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1, but the kind folks at Universal have included Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround for the French-language track, which is nice for the Canadians who will surely want to see how their dear Mounties are depicted in this merely amusing send-up. The other choice viewers have is widescreen or pan-and-scan, and choices are always nice even if pan-and-scan is the devil's work. The image looks bright and sharp in both formats, but crisper and with better resolution in the widescreen. The DVD for Dudley Do-Right includes a DVD-ROM feature that accesses a jigsaw puzzle at the Universal website; it's not much, but it's something, and with a clunker like this film, viewers will have to do everything they can to give the impression of "value added." The theatrical trailer, production notes, and text cast bios are included, but they look sharper at the Universal website.
