Synopsis

Season 5 finds medical misanthrope Greg House more irascible than ever. As the season opens, House's best (well, only) friend James Wilson returns to Princeton-Plainsboro after three months of grief leave following his fiancée Amber's death, only to announce he's leaving. The reason, Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) claims initially, is that everything reminds him of Amber. But that's not good enough for House (Hugh Laurie), who neglects his duties to get to the bottom of it. After enduring some of House's trademark harassment, Wilson confesses Amber isn't the reason he's leaving -- House is. Their "bromance" isn't dead though, especially after a wild road trip the two take to the funeral of House's father. Meanwhile, love blossoms among the staff, with relationships developing between Cameron and Chase (Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer), Thirteen and Foreman (Olivia Wilde, Omar Epps), and possibly even House and new adoptive mom Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), who share a few tender moments between bickering sessions. The season takes a darker turn toward its conclusion, as the good doctors face an inexplicable tragedy that deeply affects them all, but House in particular, who also turns to stronger medication to control his pain. ~ Dianne Zoccola

    Finally

Finally! That's about all I can say in regards to the happenings at Princeton Plainsboro, with House and Cuddy finally acknowledging/verbalizing/acting on their feelings, however horribly it ended up; and the welcome reintegration of Chase and Cameron into the fold. Season 5 had its ups and downs but on the whole, as a fan of this series and as a fan of House, Cuddy and Chase I recommend this season because these actors really worked well with the sometimes meager scraps they were given. I think this is a welcome addition for anyone with seasons 1-4 and if you are a fan of House the show or House & Cuddy specifically the heartbreak at the end of the season is well worth it.

    One of the better seasons

The plot is definitely more enticing than previous seasons -- there is the same old House with some twists, same dying patient needs diagnosis parallel plot, but there are other aspects that hold you to it. After Amber died the previous season, tensions were up between Wilson and House, and that is addressed this season. Chase, Cameron, and Forman are there along with House's relatively new team - #13 and the guys. Definitely worth the sale price. Not sure I would buy it at full price though --- just doesn't seem to have the "glued to your seat" characteristic.

I love how there are so many different aspects in this show. There's House's relationship with Cuddy and his relationship with Wilson, his relationship with his team and his relationship with Cameron. Along with that, there's his witty and rational sayings which make the show humorous. Oh, and of course there's the different medical cases that need to be solved every episode.

If you like House then this is a must have, with all new diagnoses throughout the season and some little twist near the end of it. I think that out of the five seasons this is #2 as the best one. I think anyone who is a fan of House or maybe if you're not I'd say get these DVDs and enjoy Comedy-drama.

Highly intelligent series. Any predictabilty in the convoluted illnesses they all have (a seizure every week and it's NEVER Lupus) is mitigated by the excellent cast and character development. Many a dark moment. Delicious. I'm addicited.
