Not a great choice
This Kitchenaid dishwasher has not been the best since we purchased. The cleaning has been OK... several dishes left spiked per wash cycle. We run it on the ProWash cycle and the ProDry and still have problems with dirty dishes. We even rinse our dishes before loading. The “clean” dishes almost look like they were steamed-not washed. I have tried cleaning the dishwasher, but frankly had no luck. For such a pricey appliance, I expected better washing. Our old dishwasher (15 years old) washes better than this one. Additionally, mold grows very easily inside this dishwasher. The inside began stinking only after 2 weeks. Now, we little gag when we open the dishwasher to add dishes. As I stated before, cleaning this dishwasher doesn’t seem to help cut the smell or increase the function. Besides, who has the time to clean the dishwasher after every use? Might as well hand-wash the dishes as it’s less work than taking apart this dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.

Tried 2 and neither worked reliably.
We installed the KDTM354ESS in a new lake home last fall. We didn't get to use it much at the end of the season, but focused on it in April and proved to ourselves that it was cancelling in mid cycle and waking up all by itself when no one was anywhere near it...cancel and drain or some other cycle. We contacted KitchenAid and had 5 (so far) warranty repair calls with no luck. After the 5th visit, I just bought a brand new unit from BB thinking our first unit was a lemon and it was time to just put it on the curb, so to speak. I picked up the new dishwasher...same exact model...from Best Buy last Friday and installed it. There was some minor mechanical damage to the frame when I inspected it, but it was no visible externally and I didn't think it would affect performance so I installed it and tested it out. After 5 days of testing, this one is going back to Best Buy. It starts up by itself and cancels out by itself. Something is screwy. It passes all of the diagnostic tests, but doesn't work in real life. I don't know what's wrong with this model, but I won't buy a third one. We will move to some other brand. Too bad since we have other KitchenAid dishwashers and have had good luck with them.

Quiet, efficient, and excellent decor
This is an exceptional dishwasher. The unit is so quiet that you often wonder if it is running, however there is a nice LED on the front that lets you know what is going on (blue=washing, red=drying, white=clean). Really, it is difficult to hear when you are next to the unit! I really like the top rack. I have tall 'protein mixer' cups and with the vertical adjustment capability on the top shelf, they fit with no problem. There is a great filter and grinder motor at the bottom of the unit that quickly dispatches chunks. The interior stainless steal tub is a nice touch too. Although there are no controls on the front, there is a nice timer on the top of the door, showing time remaining in the cycle. I thought this would not be be visible, but you can see it just fine at any reasonable angle. There are many cycles and drying options to choose from. I also have to tip my hat to the Best Buy installation team. They did a completely professional job and made sure that all hoses and hook-ups used new, reinforced parts.

Kitchenaid dishwasher
Recently purchased Kitchenaid dishwasher and have used it several times now. Nice looking stainless steel finish with top mounted controls. Got free install through Best Buy and crew did a nice job installing and leveling unit as well as connecting water and drain. The thing I noticed first was how quiet this unit is in operation. Way quieter than dishwasher it replaced. It does a very good job of cleaning and drying dishes also. Racks have several adjustments and roll in and out easily. Could not be happier with my purchase at this point.
