This biopic of Lyndon B. Johnson (Woody Harrelson) chronicles his time as the Senate majority leader, his ascension to the presidency following the assassination of JFK, and his efforts to pass the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 over the objection of Southern Democrats. The film co-stars Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lady Bird, Bill Pullman as Senator Ralph Yarborough, Richard Jenkins as Senator Richard Russell, and Michael Stahl-David as Robert F. Kennedy. Directed by Rob Reiner.~Jack Rodgers
This is a superbly done authoritative bio-pic of “LBJ.” It’s story-line covers the events immediately to and the succession of power proceeding the assassination of John F. Kennedy to LBJ’s end-of-term Presidency – it is both deliberate and tactful. The Director was on-point as was Woody Harrelson who was absolutely on top-of-his-acting-game. A highly rewarding view that will, most likely, inspire a succeeding look at this film.
