Great sound and easy to install

This soundbar has lived up to the hype and even exceeded my expectations. I have a home theater system in my TV room but I wanted just a soundbar for my living room to watch movies, sports, and play video games. This is a 5 star system that sounds great and was super easy to install. Here are the pros: - Easy to install. It took me longer to get this thing out the box then it did to get it hooked up. You run one wire to the TV and then plug it in and you will immediately get sound. The rear speakers and subwoofer are wireless so you can place them where you prefer to create your sound bubble. - Great sound and loud. I bought this as an upgrade from a 300 watt soundbar and this model has double the power and gets twice as loud. You get clean and clear highs combined, good mids, and with clear vocals. The bass is room filing and good especially for movies and gaming. The bass is average for music though but I'll discuss that later. - Rear speakers shine. Usually the rear speakers on sound bars are either weak or get drowned out by the front speakers and subwoofer but not with this system. The rear speakers are loud and enhance the sound bubble and also deliver directional sound. When watching a movie or gaming it's awesome to hear and feel sounds moving behind you, over you, and next to you. - Nice style and blends in and no connection issues. The soundbar is very long but it looks nice and blends in with my TV stand. No wires running across the floor or all over my living room. I've had issues with Bluetooth wireless soundbars where either the subwoofer or rear speakers cut out or lose connection. I've had 0 connection issues so far. No technology is perfect so to be fair and balanced here are the cons: - This is not a cheap system especially during a pandemic. It's worth every penny once you get it home and use it though. - The bass for music is average. When it comes to movies and gaming the bass is good but it can't hit that low end bass with music. I've noticed that front firing or side firing subwoofers can't hit those low end sub sounds in music. Subwoofers that fire down sound much better with music but that's not an option here. It's not a deal breaker though. - Out of the box sound is just ok. You will need to adjust the settings and sound profile to make the system sound great. The out of the box settings are bad and you must turn ON surround sound, adjust the sound profile to MOVIES, and turn up the individual speaker volumes. It took about 5-10 minutes to get the sound profile just right to how I prefer it. Bottom line...this is a great system and it's got all the newest features so it won't be outdated anytime soon. Google Assistant works as advertised and adds to the user experience. Dolby Atmos and Hi Res Audio really shine and I've experienced 0 distortion even on high volumes. I'm very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend to family or friends.

After 4 soundbars...this is the one!!!!

This Dolby atmos soundbar also reads DTS. I found the sound was clearer and had better midrange than the JBL 9.1. The Netflix movie 6 Underground was the first movie I watched. Although the JBL had a larger 10" subwoofer, I felt that the LG had a much more precise lower stage which really surprised me. The Dolby Atmos aspect surrounded me with sound that was accurate and it enveloped us with an amazing sound bubble. The sound can be controlled by the app, but unfortunately, it adjusts the volume and not the tone. But maybe LG may upgrade that in the future. Music playback was great. You can choose just the soundbar, or switch to surround. Once you get use to surround sound, it will be difficult to watch anything without it. *Not all Netflix or Prime videos etc... are equal. By the way, the dimensions of my family room are 25'X17' & 9' ceilings. This is a keeper.

    Superior Sound and exception value

This is the best entertainment investment I've ever made. It far exceeds expectation even after some research, I was still absolutely blown away. It has forever changed my home experience to the point that I may not ever go back to a movie theater, and if I want night club quality sound and volume music, I've got that too with this system. It is absolutely amazing and worth every penny. I couldn't be happier.

    This is the real deal!

Wow is all I can say! You never knew how much sound was in TV shows or movies. Street scenes have me looking over my shoulder wondering who is the the room with me. It gets loud! Only about half way do far and it cranks!

    Brand New and DOESN’T WORK!!!

Got this home from the store and IT DIDN’T WORK!!! I was excited to get this home and set up as I had just purchased the 77” LG OLED C1 and thought this would work perfect together. I had researched and was going to get Sonos Arc and changed my mind because they offered $200 off the LG Soundbar when I bought my tv so I went with it. I read the reviews and thought maybe it would be ok… boy was I wrong! I should have went with the Sonos! After I took the time to set it up the rear speakers and sub were defective. The rear speakers cut out and make cracking and squelching noises which freak my dogs out. The sub will randomly make huge booming noises which sound like someone is stomping on the floor above you. I called LG support and spent an hour on the phone with them to find out that they told me I would have to take it to a repair facility or take it back to the store! Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed and now have to try to take the time to return this back to the store which is a huge pain! I have a lot of LG products and now I am concerned about the quality of those products. I would NOT RECOMMEND this Soundbar!

Questions & Answers
  • With the LG CX, does VRR and ALLM work through the HDMI inputs on the soundbar?

The LG SN11RG 7.1.4 Channel High Res Audio Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos®, Surround Speakers and Google Assistant Built-in supports 4K and Dolby Vision® video passthrough. 4K Passthrough is the Soundbar's ability or an AV receiver' ability to accept a 4K video signal from a source device and pass it through to a 4K TV unaffected. Both the TV and the HDMI ports on the Soundbar must be HDCP compliant for 4K Passthrough to work. The ports on the LG CX series OLEDS are HDMI 2.1 ports that support ALLM and VRR. You would only using the HDMI inputs on the Soundbar for audio and not video. Video devices that have VRR or ALL connect directly yo the TV and the audio Source from the TV can then be transferred to the devices via its HDMI inputs...^IFV

  • Are the rear speakers wireless to the soundbar?

The rear speakers are wireless for the sound signal. They pair and link automatically during the set up and re-link each time when the main bar is powered up. The speakers do require 120 VAC power. The system overall is pretty good. It does a good job with Dolby and movies. Base and surround sound is good. It does not make dialogue more distinct on day to day TV watching short of just plain turning up the volume. My only complaint is that to set up the system, you have to set up an account, log into Google Home, download a Google app and allow the unit to use your WiFi - ostensibly to be able to use Alexa. If however you later block the bar units' access to WiFi on your router (it identifies itself as a Chrome-cast speaker), you can block Alexa but then the blue tooth function stop working. You will then be unable to play music from your phone etc. through the speakers which is one of the features I really liked. Not clear why BT needs WiFi other than for Google's benefit. There are two manuals you can download from the LG site - a "Simple Manual", pretty useless and an "Owners Manual" that provides good detail on the setup and operation.

  • Why are the rear speakers on the lg sn 11 rg so lame. Sound output is atrocious. Need more volume. Have mine on 6 and that is as high as it will go.

Make sure you have DRC - OFF Dynamic range control is on in its default settings which limits how loud passages can be while raising the volume of softer passages. Turning it off should give your speakers a boost.

  • How compatible would this soundbar be with the older 2017 LG TV OLED65C7P? There's no eARC, no HDMI 2.1 etc. on that TV. So, what would work, what would not, what would suffer? Anyone with that setup that could share experiences?

So I have the LG CX. But it will work perfectly fine depending on what you want. First, you will have to connect the sound bar to the arc tv input. If you want to watch regular tv like directv it will work the same despite you connect the directv to the tv. But for enjoying Dolby Atmos you will have to connect the streaming device (Like an Apple TV) directly to the sound bar and you will not have to worry about the EARC.
