Great movie, excellent in 3D
Great movie, excellent in 3D
Posted .Just stopped by Best Buy last night and picked up this movie. Wow, I was surprised at how good the story was - I was not expecting it to be that good after MIB II was kind of a let down for me. Much more adult-like, with time travel thrown in and an excellent representation of 1969. The young Tommy Lee Jones was spot on with his voice and facial mannerisms, which I was blown away by. But the 3D really made this movie! It felt like you were right there with the MIB, and the big fish mustard scene was awesome in 3D. Better yet was falling from the Chrysler building in 3D - similar to a base jump in 3D - very freaky! I also liked the ending that explained a lot of the history between the two of them - very well done, even if a little sad. Also, there's lots of hidden jokes (watched it twice, caught most of them in the 2nd viewing with Close Captioning on) - i.e., Lady Gaga shown on the "alien screen" at MIB headquarters, and an important meeting with Agent X and the Viagaranians about a new medical breakthrough drug (I would guess Viagara - hahaha.) I bet there's more that I missed - so I'm gonna have to watch it again! Overall, I highly recommend this - it is definitely one of the best 3D movies in my collection.

|Posted .I'd owned the 2d version before and the 3d version was also fun to watch. Nothing truly earth shattering in 3d (by comparison, avatar is the most amazin 3d movie ever, dr strange is a mind bender, this one is good). story wise, this one is great. i'm not sure if its better than 1 or not, but its certainly around that.

|Posted .The third installment in the Men In Black franchise is right up there with the quality of the first film. In fact, the second movie should be ignored entirely... yes, it's that bad. The film is funny with many memorable scenes and characters. Josh Brolin is also hilariously convincing as a younger Tommy Lee Jones, and the relationship between his and Will Smith character is what truly makes this movie stand out. In addition to the great story, the audio and video quality is fantastic. That said, the 3D presentation is unfortunately not the best. It's not the worst either, but it pales in comparison to the 2D video presentation. There are a few well done 3D scenes here and there, but overall this movie is best viewed in it's superior 2D format. Unless you find a great deal on the 3D version of the film like I did, save your money and get the 2D version. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack is enveloping and clear regardless of the version you decide to get.

|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendGreat plot, special effects, great acting especially from Josh Brolin for a SF movie. This one is much better than the 2nd installment. It has time travel which I always like if it's done right. And this one delivers. If the price is right don't pass it.

|Posted .If you liked MIB and MIB II, MIB III will not disappoint. I think it is much better than MIB II. For the benefit of those who are unfamiliar with this series, the basic plot is a group of government agents (Men In Black), working with friendly otherworld aliens on Earth (who live among us in New York City), work to foil plots by evil otherworld aliens that will destroy the planet. So if this seems too silly for you, no point in reading on. If you can suspend belief and just go with it, the movie will not disappoint. Thinking about it, there may be some inconsistencies with the characters in I and II, but just go with it. In this particular outing, Josh Brolin plays a younger agent K and does it quite well. One small part of the movie that I found amusing and wondered how many of the audience "got it" was the meeting of agents J and K with Andy Warhol in 1969 NYC. Can they really do this stuff and put that notice at the end of the movie about how any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental? I want to go back and watch the first two MIB movies again and then watch this one again.
