PlayStation 5 Slim Console – Ghost of Yōtei Gold Limited Edition Bundle

The system itself has a nice design on it, and the controller has a nice design, but Sony messed up bigtime when they made the system and controllers, first they put the disc drive on the lower part of the system under a lip so it is hard putting discs in the system, second they made an orange light on the controller that stays ON at all times when the microphone is OFF, third is the fact that it is supposed to be a 1 terabyte system but 20% of the data is already used when you start the system, so unfortunately you have to buy a bigger harddrive for the system because you can only install a few games, 10-15 games, as most games take up anywhere from 60-100 gigabytes of memory, the system also has too many updates when you start it and you also have to update the controller just to play games, the controller battery doesn't last very long maybe 10-12 hours so you are charging it almost every day, it only takes about 2 hours to charge the controller, I still do enjoy playing games on the system.

Ghost of Yothi on the PS5 is an incredible experience from start to finish. The visuals are breathtaking, with detailed environments and smooth gameplay that truly showcase what the PS5 can do. The storyline is immersive and emotional, keeping me hooked from the very first scene. The combat feels fluid and satisfying, and the soundtrack perfectly complements the game’s atmosphere. I also love how quickly it loads—thanks to the PS5’s SSD, there’s almost no downtime between action sequences. Overall, it’s one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had on the PS5 and a must-have for any fan of adventure and storytelling.

Sucker Punch Productions captures lightning in a bottle twice with Ghost of Yōtei, delivering a masterful follow-up that confidently carves out its own distinct identity. Moving away from the late-13th-century shores of Tsushima, the game transports players to 1603, centering its narrative on the rugged, snow-capped wilderness surrounding Mount Yōtei in Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido). This leap forward in time brings a starkly different atmosphere. The story follows Atsu, a fiery, brash protagonist who is far less concerned with rigid samurai honor than Jin Sakai was. Driven by a raw, personal desire for vengeance against a ruthless group known as the Yōtei Six, Atsu’s journey feels intimate and grounded, grounded by a stellar, nuanced performance from actor Erika Ishii. Visually, the game serves as a true showcase for the hardware, pushing environmental art to spectacular heights. The fields are densely packed with swaying wild flowers, the lighting creates breathtaking moonlit reflections over wetlands, and the dramatic contrast between the sun-drenched southern valleys and the harsh, blinding blizzards of the north is stunning. Sucker Punch retains the beloved "diegetic UI," utilizing natural cues like the guiding wind, sprinting wolves, and golden birds to lead you across the map instead of cluttering your screen with icons. Exploring the landscape feels genuinely meditative, punctuated by clever features like using the DualSense touchpad to sketch landscapes via traditional Sumi-e ink painting minigames. Combat has received a massive, satisfying overhaul by replacing the original's stance system with a dynamic five-weapon arsenal. Atsu can seamlessly swap between dual katanas, a spear, a massive ōdachi sword, and a versatile kusarigama (chain-sickle) that excels at sweeping crowd control and pulling distant targets in for flashy assassinations. Because the game takes place at the dawn of the Edo period, firearms also make an impactful debut; the slow-loading musket punches through heavy armor with satisfying force, while the flintlock pistol works wonders for point-blank staggering. Every encounter feels fluid and incredibly lethal, making you earn your victories through precise parries and tight dodge windows rather than letting you become an unstoppable, overpowered tank. If there is a minor flaw in this otherwise stellar package, it is that the open-world loop occasionally relies on familiar tropes. While the game tries to mask its checklists behind organic exploration, clearing out outposts, tracking down basic bounty targets, and engaging in simple stealth mechanics in tall grass can feel a bit predictable. The camera can also occasionally get caught in tight spaces during hectic, multi-enemy skirmishes. However, these small mechanical gripes do little to drag down the overall experience. With its rich cinematic flair inspired by classic Japanese cinema, deeply engaging gameplay variety, and a phenomenal musical score, Ghost of Yōtei stands tall as a mandatory, generational highlight for any action-adventure fan.

The Ghost of Yotei artwork looks incredible in person the details are sharp, the finish feels premium, and it stands out completely from the standard white consoles. The matching DualSense controller is stunning and feels great in the hand. Performance-wise, it’s a beast: silent operation, instant load times, and buttery smooth graphics. Playing Atsu’s journey on the hardware designed for it makes the immersion next-level. If you are on the fence, just buy it. You won't regret it.
