• A:Answer Hi there. Thank you for your question! The Geek Squad Protection covers you more for the hardware aspect, such as drops, spills or defects. In this case, it would not cover you for viruses or thorough support. However, we'd be more than happy to take a look at the computer at our Geek Squad to get started and see what can be done. Q: QuestionI just purchased a laptop from your website. I added 1 year accident protection for $189.00. After receiving my order confirmation, I see there is a 24/7 protection plan available for $199.00. Would I have been better off getting the 24/7 protection ?

This question was asked about the related product: 1-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection

• A:Answer The Total Tech Support which I have had for over a year now is largely a sales hype. The 24/7 assistant is a chat available only person someone without ANY useful information, each & every time I have contacted them, including tonight. The chat sessions invariably want lots of info from YOU and then direct you to call the store or schedule an appointment. I tried using it again tonight. The in store tech support is occasionally helpful and often useless. Oh well. In house consultations are also just hype, but that is another topic. The Total Tech support is Supposed to be about "accessibility" does Not include repairing a defective device (it is more for dumb questions of computer illiterate people, and God Forbid you try to improve your security; you get the "most people do not have hackers or need to worry about security", wow, what amazing information that is! and what a dismissive turn off, to hear from someone who does not want to improve my security.) The protection plan for one year is a results driven functional warranty but if the device has a one year warranty then you Do Not Need it. The GS will send devices off , in my experience, so you might as well, send it off to the manufacturer , insured, and hound them.

Q: QuestionMy new laptop will not load after windows update

Asked 1 month ago by John.

This question was asked about the related product: 3-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection

• A:Answer I would bring it into the Geek Squad. Did you try re-booting your computer? Shut it down completely, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on and see what happens. It may be something very fixable, or it could be a bad motherboard. Sometimes things just go bad on brand new computers. The other possibility would be to delete windows and re-install it and see if it will load. My best advise would be to contact Geek Squad -- if its a hardware issue, the manufacturer will take care of it, if its a file issue, Geek Squad should be able to help.
