As someone who actually WORKS in the computing department at a Best Buy the previous person responding was definitely INCORRECT. Total Tech Support provides technical assistance with virtually any tech device in your home; regardless of where it was purchased. As to your computer build: tech support would cover troubleshooting the hardware, installation of software, free anti-virus for 10 devices, installation or removal of any of the hardware in your build, answering questions to assist you with matainance and upgrades, and 24/7 support for the build via phone or website chat. **Tech Support and protection plans ARE different. A geek squad protection plan covers issues with the actual hardware (such as failure, battery, dead pixels, and accidental damage protection (only certain plans cover damage). Any of the protection plans that Best Buy offers cover ONLY items purchased at Best Buy; but Total Tech Supoort covers tge support and repair of electronics (troubleshooting, setup, installation, labor charges for repair, etc) no matter where they were purchased. **If a customer has Total Tech Support and wishes an item to be repaired that wasn't purchased at Best Buy or was purchased without a Geek Squad Protection/ Accidental Damage Protection plan; the customer would be required to pay for the parts necessary to repair an item. The labor charges (which in many cases make up the bulk of the cost of repair) are COVERED by Total Tech Support.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, but things you buy from best you can get this on. I recommend against getting this plan until they update the website and make the support for this better. the protection plan used to be easy to use but some update on the website has made it impossible to file claims. Once the claim filing part of the website is fixed it is worth it. Also make sure you don't send the hard drive to the geek squad. IT isn't worth them copying your files to their own local machines to have your OS fixed or your computer rebuilt. Drop onto discord and ask fixit or many of the other tech related channels you can find on youtube for asvice.
