Look into a device called an Edid. It may solve the issue. Likely the inputs hanger different “handshakes” with the monitor and it’s getting all confused when you jump from one to the other. Edid devices help monitor and bridge handshake issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I haven't experienced that problem with my rocketfish switch, but I had a different brand hdmi switch which required frequent rebooting. Sounds like your fish may be rotten. My suggestion is to exchange it or buy a new one.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.HDMI actively seeks a 'terminated' signal at it's port. When you switch the Rocketfish away from your Dell, you remove the 'terminated' signal, so the switch basically will 'time out'.
