Hello John 123, thanks for your question. The Acoustimass 10 Series V is a 5.1 System. This means that your receiver will have two unused connections for rear speakers. You can use any two passive speakers to complete your 7.1 arrangement. Have a great day! Best Regards, Greg - Bose Support
