Hello OldMan, thank you for posting your question! The Acoustimass 10 system cannot be used without a home theatre receiver. Any receiver that provides 10-200 W per channel, at 4-8 ohms, should work fine. Also to note, you would want to connect the optical cable to the receiver, not the AM10 system.
