• The Acoustimass 10 series 5 system is a speaker only system and will require a receiver to power the speakers.

• Yes, this is a speaker system only. You will need a receiver with 5.1 surround sound option. I use a Sony DN1080 and am quite happy with it. Any good surround sound receiver with 5.1 option should work fine. Just make sure it has all of the Output connections listed in the Bose manual.
