These sleeves offer basic protection from scratches and smudges. I use them when burning a disk to give someone some images, but not for long term storage.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The sleeves are protecting the CDs from the environment and from scratches and smudges. I used a decorative basket/ tray I purchased from The Container Store. It even had a cloth cover which made it more decorative. It was less than $5 and holds abt 35-50 cd's, depending on how you arrange them.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This product is only for prevention of scratches and smudges. If you want to protect a CD for the long term, this product can provide a piece of the solution but not the overall solution. To protect a disc you should purchase a high quality disc, most likely with a gold reflective layer, handle it with care, keep it in a dry, dark, and cool place (such as a safe), and use a slow writing speed that reduces errors and increases quality. Also, make two different copies of the data and store them in two separate locations (separate physical addresses is best if possible).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just for your info. CDs will lose data overtime so it is a good practice to copy them to fresh cds every 5 to 10 years. I have many storage solutions and don't notice that one is better than another. Keep them flat or on edge and out of sun or intense heat and you should be fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.mainly scratches and smudges
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.all cd's and dvd's deteriorate over time, in protective covering or not. If your MRI is important, make a copy so you have 2; and make another copy every 5 years or so. Manufacturers of dvd & cd's claim a 5 to 10 year shelf life before recording; no claim for after recorded. Council on Library and Information Resources says: http://www.clir.org/pubs/reports/pub121/sec4.html I would think keeping at moderate temperature, protected from sun, oxygen, sulfur dioxide (sealed plastic bags?) might help.
