• To access the internet, yes, you need wi-fi connection. You can also use the computer to use the Google Docs feature off-line.

• it will have very limited offline usage. I download videos and books to it in case I do not have a connection and it works great, but most things need a connection. It will connect with any band wifi

• You can use Google Docs. off line. But for most stuff you will want to be connected to the web.

• For most things you need to be connected when using a Chromebook. The AC wifi is downward compatable so it will work with any router on the market.
