“Can you actually download applications to the desktop for this computer? Like can I just click an icon for a specific app or do I have to use the specific websites only? I’m hoping it’s not like chromebook. You can’t download applications with chromebook”

This is a Windows laptop so you don't have to have apps; you can install software directly onto the laptop.
