• At least one award-winning writer, John Scalzi, has used a Chromebook to write some of his novels. I would say that's a clear vote of confidence for a Chromebook. I use an older version of this laptop (not a 2-in-1, but this size and general layout) and have used it to write lengthy documents as well.

• This should do fine for any kind of writing or word processing. Google Docs should be included with the Chromebook, which is a good word processor app.
