“If I order it and it delivers on a Monday, does it need to be opened right away? Or could I receive the product and then wait to open it until Friday”

I waited about 4 days from delivery to get it set up. I think you should be fine

Also, please remember, we do have a 21-day germination guarantee where we replace any seed pods if they don't sprout.
