Yes they charge for the kit. There are two kits. A wire harness kit and a face kit. Different vehicles require different kits. The type of radio you purchase determines what type of face kit you will need. The additional cost is between $30-$50 dollars for both. I highly recommend buying them. Most radios have good instructions for wiring the harness. For the wires you should use tube connectors. It should take about an hour to replace a stock radio with an aftermarket radio.
