I don't believe you can have the TV sound and also the ear buds at the same time with this device. I use a blue tooth headset with this device, so I can hear TV in my headphones only and the TV speakers are muted. It works great. This device can do '2' Bluetooth headphones though at same time and TV sound would not go through the TV speakers, but through the headphones. If your TV has 'plug-in' for cable with headphones you might be able to do that without this device, but depends on your TV and that way you may be able to listen and also have TV sound in the room.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depends on the box you plug it into. If I plug it into the Jack on my cable box, I still get audio from the speakers. If I plug it into the TV directly, the speakers cut out. Trying to figure out a solution for the same reasons as you, since there appears to be no easy answer for multiple devices, i.e., cable box, firestick, DVD, etc.
