It depends on the unit. If you have a unit with both RX and TX modes (for Receiving or Transmitting) then the 3.5 jack can handle both IN and OUT. You can connect Optical OUT from the TV to Optical IN on the Aluratek and then Bluetooth that audio to a BT headphone or BT speaker.
