“I bought this product along with a Vizio V-Series and Sony wireless headphone. I am usually fairly tech friendly, but I’ve been trying for ages to get the sound to come to my headphones and not the TV. There are no instructions with the product packaging.”

Are your wireless headphones Bluetooth? Plug the Bluetooth transmitter/receiver into the output of your TV. Pair the transmitter/receiver with your headphones and it should work.

With this device I believe the audio source has to be feed through a physical cable like an audio Jack or optical cable. Since most new TVs don't have audio Jack's anymore. You can use the included optical cable. And go to your TV audio settings and change from TV speakers to external output. Also make sure that transmitter is set to transmit and not receive.
