“I've seen reviews of this product elsewhere, saying there is a common issue with a false "door open" warning, possibly due to a bad door-position sensor. Has anyone experienced this?”

I haven't had any issues with mine. My guess is that it is in the sensor or wiring plugging into the main circuit board controller.
