I just tried to do it on my tv, once you connect the Bluetooth device. It no longer plays sound on the tv. Maybe there is another adapter you could get, does the same thing when you plug into the headphone Jack! Hope this helps!

I opened up the back of the TV, cut the 2 wires feeding a speaker and soldered wires to a 1/4" jack I mounted in the back cover. Purchased a audio mixer and connected the TV audio from the jack just installed, to the mixer input. I have external, powered speakers for my wife and others, that plugs into the mixer output. I have both a wireless headset or a wired headset that I can plug into the headphone out on the mixer. I can also plug TV output into whole house stereo system. All work great. With wireless I can walk all over a very large house with no problem with audio or I have background music via the stereo system.
