• If I'm not mistaken, you can use Amazon Echo or Echo Dot together with Echo Connect to call others via landline.

• There really isn’t an interface to your landline. I’m pretty sure this does calling through your Internet - pretty good quality too.

• I think it has to be a smart phone access. Once linked to my android smart phone it accessed my phonebook and it can be used with Alexa even if I or my phone is not at home. Example: my husband used Alexa to call me on my cell phone when I was gone.
