It's easy to set-up, but you will have to have WiFi. I imagine you have WiFi since you have a computer. It's super easy. You will like it, and you can run other products like smart plugs that will turn on lights and other things.

Cell phone would give you more options when out of town or away from computer. I turned on Christmas lights from app when we were dining out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No; you don't need a cell phone; but you do need a wireless network, in your home. Installation is easy; even for an old (over 65) user. You should be able to set it up in about 15 minutes; just follow the included instructions. By the way; a smart cell phone does increase their usability.
